He can do what he wants but the election will be over on June 7th after he gets crushed in Cali and NJ. He'll have no argument, then.

He'll concede before the convention. And if he doesn't, it won't matter. No one will cover him except CNN occasionally cuz why not.

He doesn't have an argument -right now-. None. But he's still going and he's doing his best to keep finding ways to raise more money from his followers. He's already convinced lots of folks that the process is rigged... even though he's going to be trailing by around 4 million votes pretty shortly. He doesn't have the votes, he doesn't have the delegates but none of that matters.

The media will cover him because they'll need something to talk about in between now and the convention.

Wow. No way. The main progressive goal should be to create a society that provides decent opportunities and guarantees the best, minimum standard of living, for all people within the society. Reduction of systematic racism is an important but ultimately small part of that. If you really think racism, the abstract kind that most of us live with, is even close to the significance of increased educational attainment, higher wages, health care, infrastructure spending, or labor laws, then you must really be privileged to be able to say that the worst thing you encounter on a day to day is racism.

Suggesting that racism is mostly abstract in America is simply false, and all of the things you've suggested are perfect examples of why, because people of color simply don't get the same benefit from welfare programs, wage increases, educational programs, or even infrastructure spending. All of the government programs are designed and run in ways that prevent them from getting access to the benefits. Look at the GI bill or the interstate highway program for quick, obvious examples of how even massive government initiatives can be used to impoverish rather than uplift people of color if the will is there to do so.

His argument is that all states should be able to vote for him. It's not a bad argument. Frustrating, but valid honestly.

If he doesn't drop out after he's really lost, then we have a problem.

Don't diablos. It's fine. I think at the end of the day, Bernie will let it go. He'll get in line or lose any chance to have any relevancy in the Senate going forward

I know Bernie has appeared to be a shitstain this last month or two, but I'm confident things will smooth over soon.

That is kinda my worry, but like I said earlier there's a 50% chance he falls in line in the end and supports Hilary.

I kinda want to, but I don't want the entire forum hating me for being a Sanders/Trump voter. I don't wanna be judged.
People don't hate you because you're a sanders/trump voter. People just are generally confused by you since most of your posts are incoherent.

Do we really need a thread about every poll? Seems like this will be a long season!
i've wanted a general thread for polls but they always get posted anyways. although this thread will be kinda fun because many will diablos over it.

No Poli-Gaffer should be allowed to post a single election poll in OT.

None. If some other goober wants to do it, fine. But it's not worth our time.

Post it here, discuss, move on.

If Hillary is truly up about 4-6 right now (with the bump figured in), you'd expect a polling outlier like the Fox News poll to pop up sometime.

Good news apparently if you claim Lange got death threats you're a liar now!

Ralston was also the source of the claim that Roberta Lange received death threats, again plural. Ralston first reported that he had received audio and text of messages received by Lange after her phone number was posted online in the aftermath of Saturday’s mess. Ralston misreported the single instance that could be interpreted as a threat, however. The lede for his post on the matter simply stated: “One caller suggested she would be hung or burned.” The problem? When Ralston got around to posting the actual message later in the day, the caller turned out not to have said she would be hung, but rather that she should be.

Impolite. Wrong. Harassment, even if not criminal. And part of a 250 year tradition of overblown political rhetoric in the United States. Not a threat. No words at all implying that she will or “would be” killed as Ralston falsely reported.

I think the Nevada incident and Sanders' inability to respond to ir properly really is going to be one of the defining moment of the Sanders campaign

It's amazing. Nevada is such a meaningless outcome in the delegate count but people are literally dying on their swords over it.

Counter Punch isn't just some random blog either, I mean Jesse Jackson is a frequent contributor.

I love the half assed lawyer speak that these people try to pull off when they get confronted about their angry calls/threats by reporters.

Like, from a legal perspective… I didn't make it a direct threat. There's an implication, and I'm implying, right? I'm inferring that I could do something, but I was doing that to show — it was kind of just a, Hey, let's set the mood here and see if anything will happen.
What about the fact that you included her home address in your texts? Some would perceive that as a threat.
That's — I didn't text that right [in the text message screengrabbed above]. I should have ended that with: She has millions of people that she has to answer for, and everybody knows her number, where she lives. Like I said, that was not texted correctly, and I didn't mean that to be a threat.

Call me if Trump is up three nationally in multiple polls. The race has tightened (thanks, Bernie!), but yeah.

I probably should be more worried, but I think Trump is fucked on demographics when looking at the electoral map. That, and state polls have Hillary up in those key blue states and competing in AZ and GA right now, pre-winning the nomination officially, during Bernie's decision to stoke as much discord as possible, etc.

But if those polls head toward Trump en masse, then I'll start to re-assess.

I think the answer is yes, Clinton does get a similar bump when she wins.
wouldn't it depend on how her nomination goes at the convention? if some bernie people end up severely disrupting the event then that might be all the networks talk about after it.

Which state had both a primary and caucus?

You know racism is implicit in all those programs and their inability to help some groups as much as others right?

Why do I keep coming in here and seeing posts akin to "racism isn't that bad" or "I know racism is bad but XYZ is worse!". Stop trying to get on my shit list people. This is legit not the way American politics/society works!

Yeah but how do we know Correct the Record didn't buy Rolling Stone.

Sarcasm aside, the mental hoops people go to justify harassing someone is pathetic, and also there's a clean line from Sanders' increasing paranoid conspiracy rhetoric to these people feeling empowered to do what they did.

All I did was a social hack, a little tiny thing, but it caused a stir and sucks that you even think it was a negative thing. People actually came together. They did something — and it might have come across as negative. But they did something.... Something's changing. It's a revolution. There's going to outliers. I hate to be an outlier.

...

I regret and I apologize that [my text] was taken the wrong way, but I really just did it to see if I could get the group to back it. And it obviously did. I wanted to show people that are scared, dude, that they can have that dialogue, that they don't need to be scared. That if they see something, they should say something. I saw something....

Yeah, real gross delusions of benevolence he's got there. Even if the people that were targeted were somehow completely reprehensible individuals, if you cross that line and use methods as vile as these, you're no better.

nebraska had a primary that doesn't mean much.

Ah thanks, that was it.

I'm having an argument with my brother over closed and open primaries.
I'm trying to get him to tell me why we should still have party registrations if every primary/caucus was open.

And I wanted to use that Nebraska situation in my argument about caucuses.
Which he does not like thankfully.

It is straight up GamerGate. Those specific people that is. Same tactics.

I really can't believe that a guy who is supposed to truly care like Sanders couldn't be arsed to have made a strong statement and come to her defense. Actually I can.

Instead he claimed victimhood and proceeded to further attack Roberta Lange directly,. Most of his response was to accuse her directly of being the reason they lost Nevada.

It is beyond disgusting.

But I would say the true thing that really hooked me was when the bird landed on his podium. It was the first time that something political actually moved me, and it moved me to the point where I cried….
