Frankly, I'm surprised Bernie wants to take it to California.

Hillary's going to win the state, and likely by a healthy margin.

With so much of his hopes and dreams placed into that state, you'd think he'd want to spare himself the embarrassment.

Yeah, but if Sanders loses its just because of super delegates or something.

He wants to claim fraud when all of the people who registered for the Independent American Party can't vote for Sanders.

Isn't it hard to find things in common?

I'm only 27 and I could not date a 19 year old girl. Would feel like dating a child

It's even worse because those are gay years. Like, in gay years, 35 is like 90 in straight years.

Having said that, when I was like 19 I was FWB with a guy who was in his 40s. Was great. I don't think I could date someone who was younger than me, to be honest, though. I think a lot of it depends on the dynamics of the relationship....

I'm not really saying there should or shouldn't be choice. Ideally the US Congressional process would be more conducive to other parties. I have no idea how that would work at a Presidential level.

A minor coalition party will get a few policy concessions, maybe a cabinet post in exchange for confidence and supply. They'll need to be placated for key votes. The PM of Australia will not be the Green leader whoever that is.

This process occurs intraparty with wings/factions instead in the US. The practical outcome is relatively similar. The Tea Party needs to be placated or the government shuts down.

I've never understood the fascination with parlimentary systems being superior. Since they can have the unfunctioning if a majority or collation can't be reached.

Look at spain, they've got not government right now. Belgium has had tons of periods like this. Its not about the structure but respecting norms and relative ideological agreements. Germany has a ton of parties but they tend to respect each other to form governments. Spain right now doesn't. The US worked fine with divided government until one side said the other was ilegitiment.

And when people dispute the idea of presidency they always look to latin america which wasn't a failure of the system but of the respect of norms (aka coups and fascism )

I can date younger but they have to be out of college. There's a huge majority growth when you have to pay your own bills.

no. we both liked bernie sanders and smoking cigarettes so I think we had a lot in common

Cigarettes? Bruh

At least vape if you gotta smoke

OK I'll stop lecturing (◡‿◡✿)

Yeah I guess it depends what you are looking for. I have heard gay dating can be hard because fewer guys are looking for long term commitment. Idk though

I mean, without getting into too much detail, because of my..uh...preferences, I wouldn't be comfortable really dating a younger guy? Not sure if that makes sense. (It's my own personal issue, though, not a rant against young gays.) Like, I've always been the kind of person who has older friends. I rarely have friends my own age, although as I've gotten older it's gotten easier since people my age are starting to git guud at life.

Man, I didn't think of this and it would be awful and become a meme so fast.

Castro better get his ass on Duolingo if he wants a federal office.

Even Ted Cruz speaks Spanish. Sure, he sounds like your Spanish teacher, but he knew enough to throw down with Mario Rubio.

I don't blame Hillary for skipping the last debate, although I'm sure the Sanders people are going to be pretty upset about it.

Then again they're upset when she eats crackers so who gives a fuck.

There's only one more meaningful day of primaries left, I'm pretty sure everyone is fairly well-exposed to both candidates by now. The "People would vote for Bernie if they just knew who he was!" argument doesn't hold nearly as much water as it did like three months ago.

We're gonna be standing here for about an hour. I've done general admission at concerts so I'm somewhat equipped but my feet are about to start killing me soon.

Indeed.

A debate would do nothing for her and the only thing it could dois give Trump so talking point if Sanders or her say something dumb.

All Things Considered playing interview snippets right now where most of the Bernie supporters they talked to grudgingly admit they will vote for Hillary.

And most of them they talked to won't mention Hillary by name. Acknowledge they'll support "the Democratic candidate".

And now talking about how polls of the general election not meaning much right now.

Btw apparently just observing that Sanders only named one woman out of a group of 5 while Clintion managed to find 4 out of 6 and DWS 2 out of 3 is a mortal sin.

DWS appointed 4 people, as far as I'm aware? Have you missed someone?

Let alone Cornell West of all people dropping in, some wacky stuff tbh.
Is McKibben even a democrat for that matter?

Again French perspective on the matter.
We had a full on parliamentary system after the 2nd Empire circa 1870 till WWII.
If you look at it closely it's probably a regime borne out of corruption and all the kind of shitty thing people decry about democracies.
Still it worked for a time.
IVth Republic, full on parliamentary after WWII in 1945.
full on mess, ungovernable with basically what we called a valse of Prime Minister where a guy couldn't hold an office more than a month.
De Gaulle came (again) and basically we have the Vth Republic which is the current system.
It's kinda weird because the parliament has a great deal of power but the president cannot be removed for some reason.
Still if you look at all the different regimes we had, it's the closest to an ideal government and certainly the most stable while also making sure the people are heard....
That's what I would like to say till some shitty thing happened in 2002 because the 2 ruling parties are shite.

Still proportional and parliamentary government are shite. USA you're better than that.

Yeah I did. The post with the names dropped one of DWS' choices from the list. So hers is 50% women to 50% men

So interesting that of a group of 15.

8 are men and 7 are women and the only reason is that Clinton and DWS jointly named 6 of them or 86% of them.

And they jointly named 4 men or 50%

In comparison Sanders by himself also named 4 men or 50% but only 1 woman or 14%

So men have a majority on the committee because Sanders named so few women. Even 2 out 5 would have made the committee for once a women majority.

Not accusing him of sexism but it is nonetheless interesting at how few women he named.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Bernie Sanders says the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia could be "messy" but that "democracy is not always nice and quiet and gentle."

Sanders said in an interview with The Associated Press Monday that his supporters hope to see a platform at the July convention that reflects the needs of working families, the poor and young people.

He said he will "condemn any and all forms of violence" but his presidential campaign is bringing new people into the process who have never gone to a political convention before. He said he hopes "their voices will be heard."

Asked if the convention could be messy, Sanders said, "So what. Democracy is messy."

He also named more ethnic minorities than Clinton, more people born to low-income families, and more religious minorities, including the first ever Muslim to be a drafting committee member. Like, these are tiny sample sizes here: we're talking 6, 5, and 4 people respectively. They're not going to be easily representative.
