Al Franken is so good talking about Trump, Sessions, and the voter fraud issue (speaking now in the Senate). He seems to balance between Bernie and Hillary, at least on the surface. Is there a reason he can't run (and win) in 2020?
Not very long ago I would have said his history might be a problem (drugs, lots of "offensive" material in his books and other work) but that seems to have been thrown out the window so who the hell knows. I'm a fan.
If anyone wants a break from the horror, read Al's book "Why Not Me?" about his fictional run for president against Al Gore in the primary in 2000. It's absolutely hilarious (audiobook is probably the best way to take it in).
Al Franken has been my personal frontrunner to run in 2020, save Harris or Gillibrand for 2024. Charismatic, rational, intelligent. Sacrificial lamb at the worst, good president at the best.

A woman definitely could win in 2020. Trump will be even more unpopular and won't have the nenefit of an opponent that has so much baggage. I'm also warry of running midwestern senators whose seats aren't safe. Duckworth would be a good choice.

I think if Kirsten Gillibrand decides to run, she'll easily win the primary. Basically a younger Hillary without all the baggage. I also think this will be part of the problem of Hillary playing up the "I'm a woman, I'm with her, first female president" stuff. People are going to be more cautious about it next time because it was such a heavy part of the narrative
