1. Just published a piece about a new strategy to hold Trump accountable. Critically, it doesn't involve Republicans
How Trump can be held accountable for violating the Constitution, even if Congress doesn't care

4. Quo Warranto allows a state attorney general to sue the Trump Organization for facilitating legal activity

Edit: Unrelated

Oh God, I'm expecting him to fuck this up just because it's California.

Yup. I'm not seeing how this comes out good for the people of California. Even if Trump isn't a child, it'd take a better man than he's ever been to do good here.

CNN has the Kansas secretary of state trying to argue that if Kannada has 9 cases of voter fraud then can you imagine how many new York and California have? This is so stupid.

Especially when the recent case of a woman jailed for 8 fucking years for voter fraud was a registered Republican.

no sympathy for these jackasses. Hope they enjoy their new at-will employment like the rest of us non-union suckers outside of Montana. You get what you vote for

(but in reality the Republicans will just fix the bill to properly carve out the unions that support them and remove that just cause clause)

Someone posted that FP article about what the Kremlin thinks of Trump and it had some interesting tidbits in it.
Trump’s presidency has also complicated Moscow’s relations with China and Iran. Moscow is interested in normalization with the West but not at the cost of joining a Washington-led anti-China coalition, which Trump seems insistent on creating. Moreover, Putin’s Russia hosts up to 20 million Muslims and therefore cannot indulge in the radical anti-Islam rhetoric adopted by Trump.
I was unaware that there were so many Muslims in Russia.
What is especially dangerous from the Kremlin’s perspective is that certain nationalistic circles in Russia are falling in love with Trump’s insurrectionary approach. In January, for the first time since Putin returned to the Kremlin in 2012, Putin was not the most frequently cited name in the Russian media; Trump was. And although most of Trump’s Russian admirers, such as Alexander Dugin, are loyal to Putin personally, they also dream of purging the globalist elites who occupy the rooms adjoining their president’s.

Anyone who spends any time in Moscow will quickly discover that ordinary Russians, in contrast with a majority of Europeans, feel surprisingly positive about Trump. One reason is that they are exhausted at Russia’s confrontation with the West. Another is that they share Trump’s cynical, borderline apocalyptic view of international politics. Like Trump, they never believed in win-win politics in the first place.
This is getting a bit bizarre

There was already a thread on the Bernice King recommendations.

It's a nice thought, I guess, but I find them to be infantalizing and pretty useless.

Though there have been plenty of calls to attempt to retire butheremails.jpg, I refuse to give it up until people who unironically said it during the campaign apologize. Not bullshit half-assed apologies, either. Actual admission of fault, and an explanation of why they were wrong. File this international crisis meeting in the middle of a dinner in full view and earshot of the public as just today's example of absurdity.

Abe's facial expression is priceless. Shame there's no higher resolution of it.

Although that's a firmly RED part of California that voted for Trump, so if he fucks them over, he will have fucked over his base.
You expect him to care? Even from a pure self-interest point of view it doesn't matter because they live in California and their support doesn't matter at all to his success in 2020.

Like 65% of voters thought that Trump was intelligent.

How.

Well, for two reasons:

1) People assume money and power implies intelligence. This is incorrect, but also counter-intuitive. Stupid people get rich and are in positions of power allllll the time, but people don't realise or stop and think about it to understand how or why.

2) Without wishing to sound mean-spirited or condescending, it's entirely possible for Trump to be more intelligent than those respondents. That doesn't make him intelligent, sadly, only more intelligent than the people responding. IQ averages and education, and all that.

Retiring it is an admission that we're too sensitive to admit how true it is. We as a nation showed some of the most hilariously skewed priorities during 2016, and now we're paying the price for those skewed priorities.
