It works, but can't be the only thing you are doing.
Yeah, that's my understanding. That the studies that have been done on the subject indicate that it can work in moderation, but when it becomes your dominant message negative advertising can backfire. Which is exactly what happened with Clinton--her ads ended up going predominantly negative, and that backfired against her despite them being a damning indictment of Trump in many cases. Granted, in her case, that was just one mistake/hurdle out of many, but it certainly didn't help.

In any case, if Ossoff has gone mostly negative in advertising, that doesn't give me good feelings for similar reasons. Candidate who's at the disadvantage + focus on negative advertising = bad times ahead. Hope I'm just reading too much into nothing, but that type of thing doesn't give me a good feeling.

Yeah, I think that's something we can all agree on. xD

So Northam is likely to win the Governors Mansion correct? Democrats got way more votes than Republicans, and the statewide elections tend to trend Blue.

Just stepped out of a room where Fox News was playing and I swear I got the bends

Hannity tonight:
- Sessions EVISCERATED Senate Democrats
-- He was strong, came with FACTS, and didn't back down!
- Repeatedly saying "It has been shown that there has been NO collusion" (said every other paragraph)
- But there has been possible collusion with Loretta Lynch! Clinton Foundation! Tarmac!
- There should be a special prosecutor for the Clinton case
- YOUR TAXES are going to fund plays about killing Trump, foundation for the arts is a scam, let's bring on Geraldo:
-- "I like the Obama test... if there was a play just like this about killing Obama, would people be okay with it?"
- Here's video of a tower on fire, speaking of which Mueller should close the case and Republicans should prosecute Hillary Clinton

Seems like it's Northam's to lose at this rate.

Virginia also has a decades old tradition of electing a governor from the opposite party of the president, broken only recently by McAuliffe winning a year after Obama was reelected. Trump backlash will likely play a huge role here.

My only hope is that Northam runs a strong enough campaign to flip some House of Delegates seats, which has been pretty static for the past few years with the GOP holding near 2/3rds of the chamber. Clinton actually won 51 out of 100 House districts last year, so it's possible (Dems have candidates in 88 seats including all 17 GOP-held Clinton districts) although unlikely they'll pull a clean sweep. Last I heard the most the state party is expecting to gain is like 10 seats, but if anti-GOP/Trump sentiment is so high we might have a chance.

Turnout was ridiculous and greatly encouraging. Sabato said 500k was unlikely and Democrats blew past that easily.

I know Hannity's been on the Clinton stuff for a few weeks now so I just want to ask him

if what she did is obviously illegal

why don't Donald Trump, Jeff Sessions, and the FBI pursue this case

The Trump administration can use their not-pursuing the case to further their narrative with both "moderate Republicans" and their own base. That is, they can turn around and say "We all know Hillary did something illegal, but we don't want to be vicious to the loser of the election, and we're nice guys, so we're going to let it go," to the moderates who read papers/watch TV that isn't Fox. And at rallies and for Fox viewers they can push the "Hillary did so much wrong" narrative with the base, without ever having to worry about the high burden of proof for pursuing criminal cases. The base mostly just want to to be told by someone in charge she did Bad Things - thus confirming their own thinking, and their own sexism - whilst the "moderates" hope that Trump has changed, and his continued not pursuing/locking-up of Hillary proves he's "Presidential".

So, to answer your question, Hannity would probably say that just because they aren't pursuing the case, doesn't mean she didn't do anything illegal. If Trump and the DOJ don't press charges, it's down to Fox news to make sure Hillary doesn't get away without any consequences, and we're just telling the truth. It pushes both narratives of the administration simultaneously, and anyone who contradicts him is just a liberal anyway, so what does it matter.

^He's apparently in stable condition according to Morning Joe, which is good (he was hit in the hip and the wound wasn't life threatening fortunately). Still, what in the world...

Rand Paul gave a pretty terrifying account of the incident on Morning Joe. Taking cover behind a tree while bullets hit the field all around. Said there was nowhere for anyone on the field to go.

Is it safe to assume Northam would be a pretty conservative Dem Governor?

My only hope is that Northam runs a strong enough campaign to flip some House of Delegates seats, which has been pretty static for the past few years with the GOP holding near 2/3rds of the chamber.

Unless the Dems can make big gains in the lower house it doesn't really matter how conservative or liberal the governor is.

According to Fox, the shooter may have asked if Democrats or Republicans were playing on the field.

If the right start with some sort of Democrat Derangment Syndrome nonsense, they all deserve to sit in a room across from Gabby Gifford and have her bitch slap them. Repeatidly.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

Come on. You know this is going to happen.

It's extremely tragic, but not entirely unexpected. You can only push people so far before they snap. Take away everything they have (or threaten to) and they have nothing to lose.

Very curious to see the motive here. Jared Loughner (who shot Giffords) was off the spectrum as far as politics was concerned, deep into tinfoil hat territory. I feel like this shooter was the same given the clues we have, but we'll know more as the day unfolds.

Definitely a bad thing to happen to anyone, political violence never solves problems and only makes things worse.

As @AlanMCole notes, Jeff Duncan says the man who asked him about party affiliation was in running clothes, Flake says shooter wore jeans.

Well, good luck getting this part of the story out.
