For those who don't know: alt-left is a moniker circulated by alt-rightists (and their fascist president) to diffuse blame and paralyze judgment against the inexcusable. Don't stooge for it.

And alt-right is a moniker circulated by neo-Nazis and white supremacists to distance themselves from the genocide that is inherent to their ideology. Don't stooge for it. Alt-right is a meaningless fucking nonsense term. They are white supremacists and neo-Nazis, and calling them alt-right just allows them the opportunity to use "alt-left" as some sort of comparison. If you (rightfully) call someone a neo-Nazi, "alt-left" isn't an opposite.

All I'm saying if there's Muslims on the left who hate jews or deny the holocaust, don't be upset when I call them out as Nazis.

National Socialism is a very specific term with historical connotations. Words mean things. You have every right to call holocaust deniers by their name or anti-semites. I also Muslims on the left is a weirdly specific grievance.

You aren't wrong, but alt-right has the important distinction of being something people actually describe themselves as. That it's cover of a different sort certainly also matters.

If they're going to try to dominate the conversation by labeling us alt-left, then fuck playing by their rules. I call a Nazi a Nazi, not the politically correct term the Nazi would prefer I use to avoid alienating anyone.

Why would I care if you called a bunch of Holocaust deniers Nazis?

This is the kind of attempted counterpoint that just reveals that you've been having a different, dumber conversation than everybody else you're talking with.

I agree with you, not sure I made that clear though. Calling nazis nazis is a-

So you're calling all holocaust deniers nazis? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be livid with you right now.

I'm not fully across what's led to this weird line of conversation but I would advise returning to regular programming if you're just going to end up flaming each other.

How about 'moron'?
That one doesn't seem to fit either, maybe when you're older you can think about it again. If anyone can Nazi my point you can read it on the last page. But generally backpatting oneself for calling people Nazis is "moronic" when the definition is so wide it's essentially meaningless and could in theory include John McCain, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and David Duke.

Edit: I'll drop it now, didn't refresh page quick enough.

That last line was in very poor taste.

Trying to make "alt-left" a substantive thing reminds me of gamergate. As supporters naturally refused to admit their own faults and needed a "both sides" participant, "anti-gamergate" was born. Of course there is no "anti" when the persons involved are misogynistic piles of rotten flesh who do indefensible things, but, hey, it made them feel better about themselves. Copy-paste to today, replace misogyny with racism, and bam! BOTH SIDES BITCHES!

Yeah the both sides narrative during that incident was so fucking forced and yet I still run into people who weren't paying close attention that claim that both sides doxxed people...

Moral superiority drawn from not picking a side seems to be an enduring flaw in people who think they're smart.

Insert that gif of Boogie lecturing us to meet in the middle, "because the middle is a great place to be" in reference to JonTron's race purity shenanigans.

Probably the most infuriating gif I've ever seen whenever it pops up, just because it really makes clear how many people out there don't know shit about shit (Boogie admitted he didn't know what Jon said when he made the video defending him) but still want to sound intelligent and informed so they play the both sides card.

To the point that they will defend Nazis.

I don't get what was in poor taste. But I haven't kept up with today's news.

I'm guessing it was about the interview a black latina journalist made with a KKK Grand Wizard where he mentioned that they were going to "Burn" minorities, especially immigrants, out of the US. He was also overtly threatening towards the journalist in question.

Hey, JonTron was just trying on a new hat of white supremacy. Why should he fault him for trying the idea? smh.

Why are Dems bringing bills to remove confederate statues from capitol right now...

Keep repeating:

There were people at the rally shouting "Jews will not replace us" and Trump called them fine people.

Yup, stop talking about the damn statues. They should be shouting from the rooftops that trumps rhetoric emboldened these people and that he refuses to call it terrorism.

Continually introducing legislation to launch committee investigations about white nationalism and forcing republicans to block them would be more productive politically and practically.

You didn't answer my question.
i dunno, demand that Trump explicitly and forcefully disavow and reject the support of white nationalists, who are singing Trump's implicit support for them from the rooftops? I know he won't genuinely mean it if it happens, but we get another hostage tape statement out of it which he blows up the next day?

There's no such thing as "introducing legislation" in the House, really.

The Dems already wrote a bunch of letters asking for committee investigations which the GOP is resisting.

If worrying about the statue is a distraction, worrying about worrying about a statue is not going to be better.

Also, I don't really understand why people are worried that people are forgetting about the Nazis. From what I'm seeing on social media and talking to less political people in person, they're not forgetting about the Nazis. From what I'm seeing from various news stories and responses people are making, they're not forgetting about the Nazis.

I feel like this is another example of the Green Lantern thing -- just fervently believing that there must be something Democrats can do that they're not doing. Literally the conversation on this board right now is about extrajudicial violence to stop white supremacist paramilitaries from taking over the country through terror. It's just possible that this is the one topic the establishment left is not best suited to respond to.

Supreme Court Justices can also be impeached for improper conduct. Haven't tried since Samuel Chase in 1805, but Congress can do it. If Trump leaves office early and Gorsuch doesn't keep his head down, I think Congress would act.
I sincerely doubt Gorsuch will get impeached. Talk about a stretch. He'd really have to fuck up. Democrats would have to be in power too and agree that this is a good idea.
