Literally every Ivanka story has her "randomly walking in" on meetings or interviews. Like, does Trump like her walking in like this? Thinks it's some "pretty girl power play", or is she just nosy?
I would suggest a combination of all those options. Donald Trump encourages it, and she enjoys being part of the fray even if she wants none of the accountability that should come with it.

Related, but Deus Ex has always made me wonder if augmentation rights could one day be a big issue. Especially if we get to the point where augmentations could allow a person to do things your ordinary person couldn't, or the fear of weapon mods.

There will be a lot of ethical issues with augmentations.

It'll be a test on "it's your body, do whatever you want to it" ideals, because what if that "whatever" allows you to pick up cars or think 10x as fast as a "regular" human. It'll be a problem as well when hiring, because why hire the ordinary human who couldn't afford an exoskeleton and can only lift 100lbs with many breaks, when mr exoskeleton over here can lift 2 tons with no wear and tear on his own body.

It will be an amazing time in medicine, though, when someone can lose limbs and have them be fully replaced with a 100% functionally identical cyborg replacement.

AI rights though, is basically going to be an entirely new battle on slavery.

On debt ceiling deal I'm told GOP started by asking for 18 months, then 12, then 6. Dems said no firm 3. Trump said OK & McConnell added CR

Seeing a TYT video about the Hillary Clinton book pages titled "This is what Hillary thinks cost her the election" being shared all over my facebook feed.

Its like they think this is the entire book and thats the only reason Hillary thinks she lost the election.

TYT is fake news.

Illinois looks so lonely in that first map :(
Yeah, Democrats really let the Midwest slip away from them.

I hope we can manage to win some red state governorships too. Kansas and Georgia would probably be the most useful, Kansas for general government (we would get Medicaid expansion on day 1) and Georgia for redistricting purposes. Ohio as well - if one party wins 2 out of 3 of the Governor, Auditor and Secretary of State elections, they control the redistricting process, although there are restrictions in place to prevent rampant gerrymandering (the maps only go into effect for four years unless two members of each party agree to the new maps, in which case they'll last the full ten).

Just Facebook selling political ads to Russian trolls...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...b_story.html?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.f8c3ca0aaa44

Representatives of Facebook told congressional investigators Wednesday that it has discovered it sold ads during the U.S. presidential election to a shadowy Russian company seeking to target voters, according to several people familiar with the company’s findings.

Facebook officials reported that they traced the ad sales, totaling $100,000, to a Russian “troll farm” with a history of pushing pro-Kremlin propaganda, these people said.

A small portion of the ads, which began in the summer of 2015, directly named Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, the people said. Most of the ads focused on pumping politically divisive issues such as gun rights and immigration fears, as well as gay rights and racial discrimination.

The acknowledgment by Facebook comes as congressional investigators and special counsel Robert Mueller are probing Russian interference in the U.S. election, including allegations that the Kremlin may have coordinated with the Trump campaign.

More behind the link.

It really speaks to how incompetent the R's in charge are.
Ryan and McConnell wish they could go back in time and sabotage Trump so they could just obstruct a President Hillary for 4 years. At least that they know how to do! Was Gorsuch worth it?

Drunk Paul Ryan with a beard like Jack from Lost: "We have to go back!"

2010 really hit the Dems hard in the Midwest (elsewhere too of course).

Prior to that midterm, Dems had a trifecta in Wisconsin. It was replaced by a GOP trifecta and they gerrymandered the maps hard, as those who are following the SCOTUS case are probably aware.

Dems used to control the Indiana House more often than not, but the current maps put that essentially out of reach and even winning the governor's mansion won't help the next round of redistricting because of the simple majority veto override requirement (and winning IN-Gov in 2020 looks unlikely in any case).

I recall someone posting recent results from Michigan that starkly offered a contrast between how similar vote shares translated into seats pre- and post-2010.

Illinois is a Dem gerrymander, but also one that reflects the highly transactional nature of state politics. Creating an advantage for Democrats was a concern for sure, but so was giving reps favorable primary electorates, rewarding GOP reps who are willing to play ball with Madigan, etc.

I mean the really funny thing is working with Democrats would probably give Trump far more wins than with McConnell.

It's too bad he's a terrible immoral shitty human being to do it more often.
A Republican who just rubber stamped modest Dem proposals would probably be the most popular politician in the country. The Charlie Baker model on a national level.

Not like the base will have any of it though.

Trump will go away someday. But a conservative SCOTUS if they get 2 more justices is a generation...

The best we can hope for with some of these states is they turn out to be dummymanders, that a strong enough wave suddenly puts these heavily gerrymandered chambers in play. This happened in Michigan and Pennsylvania in 06 and 08.

Winning those chambers in my map will probably be a two-pronged process, cleaning up in 2018 and 2020. Some of the Senate chambers split their elections (i.e. half in 2018, the other half in 2020). Some run on four-year terms.

this is probably a long shot but does anyone know anything about Belgian parties and if so, is the relationship between the Socialistische Partij Anders and Parti Socialiste similar to the CDU/CSU relationship?

He probably could have gotten a huge infrastructure bill pushed through congress as democrats have wanted one for years.

Just not now with his approval rating so low or now deciding who gets citizenship based on the opinions of the Fox and Friends hosts.

It would be amazing if Democrats somehow get a proper infrastructure bill, DACA and an ACA improvement bill through. Useful idiot indeed.

Designer humans is a rather consious decision to create a class structure. The leftist response to this will likely be to try to make sure people are as equal as possible from birth.

I'm so confused right now. Maybe he was a Dem plant all this time?!

The PS is the Walloon arm of the Sp.A (and vice-versa), and I'm pretty sure they compete separately in their regions, while the CSU/CDU competes nationally. That's about all I know, I really should pay more attention lol.

Somewhere down the road we'll find out that Trump's secret plan was to attach himself to democrats to lower their popularity before the 2018 election. /s

Seriously, though, Pelosi is a rock star.

The more logical idea is that he is sick of the GOP leadership not getting anything done.

So he would look to Dems to give him some 'wins' even at the expense of Ryan or Mcconnell

Im fine rolling with 40 year old Brett Favre as long as we do what we can to get someone like a young Aaron Rodgers holding the clip board and not mess around and wind up having to field Brock Osweiller if our starter goes down

CNN and MSNBC not carrying the speech, good for them. Stuff needs to be cut down first to get rid of the campaigning and identify all the lies.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
It's not just Schumer and Pelosi playing him, it's every Democrat.

Heitkamp can roll with a quasi-endorsement and nothing of consequence happens.

If this dynamic keeps up things are about to get really interesting. And not in the "oh Jesus Christ why can't I look away" sense it's been for the last nine months.

Trump's personality is so fucked up.
Typical lines of thought do not follow normal patterns in his brain.

They're basically the same, but the former prefers pink lemonade to regular lemonade.

I'm not familiar with the subject

tbh this is probably a more important issue than most political divisions

I mean if you're the eGOP, how livid are you with Trump right now?

- He won an elections shitting all over the establishment
- He won an election off of populist rhetoric the GOP doesn't agree with
- Hes fucked up their healthcare repeal
- He put a wrench in their tax ideas because of this
- He's just fucked up their end of year 2017 plans with this debt ceiling agreement
- He won't back off unpopular things like the wall and just handed congress the DACA drama.
- He's actively campaigning against people like Flake
- He's shitting all over years of Senate rules.
- He's in a linear decline in the polls
- He's threatening trade wars
