Wasn't terribly impressed with the writing in Marvel movies as it was. Maybe this will make it better.

Don't know if the reports are true (Latino Review you know), but much of Marvel Studios success had to do with Disney allowing Kevin Feige to do his own thing without interference. If it's true that Disney is meddling with Marvel's affairs, that's bad news.

Yeah but not by the one who posted the Ant Man news. The one who posted the GoTG trailer info has been right, this one has not.

Look at the contributors.

Why I am saying BS... on top of Deknight directing and Goddard advising DD.

You act like advisor is a real thing. Advisor is a bullshit title in hollywood, it always has been.

As much as the Wright/Goddard news worries me, Badassdigest is about the lowest shit on the internet and them saying something this hyperbolic makes me think the opposite will actually play out.

It's unfortunate that suits think they know what sell movies and make great movies instead of the people who actually are passionate about them. It sucks to see these two leave Marvel projects and hope it's a wake up call. I know a lot of money is on the table, but they made a ton of money by not meddling too much before, so why start now.

So the sky is falling and all that.

BTW. Disney would not mess with Mahvel business if it wasn't a serious issues with a production, which apparently ant-man is. I don't fear for future installements of their movies since it's been proved that they know how to run their stuff, against all odds.

If any director wanna be a director and don't want to worry about the executive producer being all in the script...all in the editing room...writin' notes...come to Warner Bros!

It's DC's time to shine!

Just to play devil's advocate, let's assume this is true. Do you think GotG had anything to do with it? An off-kilter director with a very specific voice and sensibility making one of Marvel's riskiest movies yet... Think that has made Disney nervous about going the same route with Ant-Man?

That would make sense if it weren't for Disney being a large part of why John Carter failed.
didn't they axe the 'of mars' part of the titled because they thought a science fiction title would put off audiences?

maybe they didn't notice the film being a total stinker as the reason behind audiences not going to see it...

On a world post X Men days of future past, the question must be asked. De we need Marvel Studios?

Clearly not.

DoFP is not at all on the level of Marvel Studios' best films. On top of that, let's see if Fox can manage two in a row before we throw the MCU out the door, hm?

I'm gonna go ahead and say that wasn't the worst movie. Leaving the Mars part in the title would have at least communicated part of what the movie was about rather than just saying Some Dude.

They axed "of mars" because another movie that Disney released "Mars needs moms" bombed spectacularly and was a laughing stock.

However, Stanton claims he is the one who dropped "of Mars" because John Carter didn't earn it yet. Which I guess could make sense since at the end of the movie the title changes to "John Carter of Mars".

Ideally they should have just called it Princess of Mars but apparently society just can't handle that.

I'm not surprised this joke was no sold.

But I appreciate it, Ninja Scooter. *shakes hand*

Shit... hope test audiences aren't hating GotG or something.

I'm amazed at how they can have such little faith in Wright and Cornish, given their past works.

I mean it makes sense. The movies that Wright makes are not ANYWHERE near in line with the type of structure Marvel has been making.

That was an exciting prospect for me, but it's not a safe one for Disney/Marvel.

I don't know how reputable The Playlist is with these kinds of things, but they're also saying that the script rewrite came from the higher-ups and that Feige went to bat for Wright but lost.

If true, this seems like a really weird movie to flex that kind of muscle on. This isn't Iron Man or Avengers, where not falling in line with a certain criteria could cost billions. Why expend this much effort on Ant-Man?

Whedon, by the way, has said that The Avengers: Age of Ultron is the finale of his time with Marvel.

When did he say this? I couldn't find a source for it anywhere. If Whedon really is leaving then I am worried.

After seeing how good Days of Future Past was and how good Dawn of Justice is looking I was hoping this would light a fire under Marvel's ass to stay on top with even more quality. :(

This seems like a Witch Hunt :/

I mean, it's all very silly when you think about it ...

Ant-Man's been in the "pipe line" for like a decade ... but back then Marvel movies weren't as big as they are now. Back then we didn't have IM3, Avengers and Cap 2 busting down the walls. And on top of that ... Ant-Man's a lame ass "hero" to base a movie on.

Seems like who ever is in charge at Marvel was finding it hard to deal with this cluster-fuck (A story about a hero with "get small ..!" powers headed by the guy who does low-brow British comedies and Scott. P and has never handled something of this size or magnitude ... and has had like 10 years to get it done. Yeah, I could see why they would want to take the project away from him if he's fucking around and it's crunch time for their big "AoU follow up".)

In October of last year he revealed his contract with marvel was only through 2015. So this isn't new news.
