It's to complicated for him…Do you have a Steam Deck?
I'm pretty sure he plays on PC thoughIt's to complicated for him…
Temper your expectations, Windows is still under the hood. BSoD comes for all.Yes, but without having to deal with the PC-ness of it.
I'm pretty sure he plays on PC though
So the triggers are hall-effect but the analog sticks aren't?
Absolutely agree.black, simple small SFF/MiniITX boxes are the only way I know a PC builder has taste. anything else looks fucked up.
Used to love these types of flashy RGB computers when I was 10, but nowadays.... gimme this instead

And here is the reason why Microsoft won't port anything to Switch 2. They are launching a competitor to Switch 2
Trying to find a good video about the operating system. LTT is the only one I've seen so far that even mentions it. This is the most compelling part for me. If what he described is true, which is most assuredly isn't because we live in hell world, it's the version of Windows I've always wanted. Gaming focused with the ability to run desktop processes as needed on demand. I want to run this on my desktop.
Some places are saying the chip could be a rebranded Steam Deck APU with some AI cores that AMD hasn't even committed to using. I'd have to learn more about it, but if this OS is close to a best-case-scenario to what Linus hinted at, it would be my PC gaming handheld of choice. Not sure Microsoft has the ability to not fuck this up though.
Microsoft sharing branding on a big product with ASUS ROG trips me out. Sign of the times man. In the Xbox 360 heyday, Xbox division would have filed for a restraining order if ASUS ROG tried to talk to them at a trade show.

Meet the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Coming this holiday 2025.
Introducing the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X – two new premium handhelds that combine the power of Xbox with the freedom of Windows 11. This holiday, players can discover another way to play as we combine the power of Xbox with the freedom you expect from Windows 11, created together with ASUS. And this is only the beginning.
•ROG Xbox Ally: powered by the AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A Processor - balancing performance and power consumption to maximize battery life without sacrificing gameplay quality - 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
•ROG Xbox Ally X: features the AMD Ryzen™ AI Z2 Extreme processor - allowing us to bring new experiences to life including greater frames-per-second, sharp visuals and increased intelligence - double the storage to have more native games at your fingertips, and 24GB of high-speed RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.
Hands-on impressions:
It's a short video and he spends most of it talking about the OS. Basically MS is building an Xbox Mode that is more SteamOS like. How functional and useful it will be, who knows - he said he explicitly asked MS about wake/resume which is still dodgy in modern Windows and they said they are working on it, so it will probably still be shit.
Anyway that high end one is going to be super expensive, probably $1200-$1500.

Looks good. I hope it's around 350-400 euro.
ahahaha steemdeck get the janitor version of cyberpunk aaa and glitch emulate nintendo game will never get switch 2 game overAt least on steam deck you have 3rd party supportplus Nintendo games

Yeah very expensive
ASUS is exclusive "Xbox Windows" I think, but Lenovo Legion and MSI Claw should get both versions.I would love it if they sold a Steam OS version minus the Xbox button and impulse triggers. Probably shave a hundred bucks off the price.
I think you think you know what you're saying and I'm not the Xbox defense force.......but from the previews, this sounds like steps taken in the right direction to debloat windows and make it more efficient. Especially for these PC handhelds. So in fact, it does seem to be more optimized and will still mop the floor with the Switch 2.This thing will be literally twice as expensive as Switch 2 yet less optimized.
By normal console standards it's dead on arrival. Let's be realistic.
Why would they be trying to replace their console base? This is an attempt to shore up the PC gaming market and add to their user base. They are going to replace 30 million Xbox Series users with 2 million Xbox Ally users (at best)!

Can't argue there.I think it will be expensive for a mass market regardless of good or bad optimization![]()
ok steemdeck can harv the unplaysable broken toilets version of totk ahahaYou said "no Nintendo games" I said that you was wrong, i was right, thanks for helping me prove that has Nintendo games on steamdeck and you was talking shit.
I'm ok with the screen, but why in the world would any handheld maker not use hall sticks?I don't understand big corpos at all. Unless I'm mistaken they didn't use hall sensor analogues, AGAIN. Even much cheaper products are using it, come on.
And IPS screen. At least put OLED screen on Ally X one. This one is maybe not feasable but nonetheless, it would bring lots of people to this product.
I'm hoping there's some kind of deal to make it cheaper than anticipated due to Microsofts ties with AMD and their mass market HW deals for their consoles. Given what I've paid for the OLED SD and Ally ZIE, I'm fully prepped for at least the same price but want to be pleasantly surprised.Yeah, seems that way. The pricing between Steam and Xbox PC handhelds will be interesting
You certainly are not familiar with console gamers! Why would they be trying to replace their console base? This is an attempt to shore up the PC gaming market and add to their user base.

How soon on the PS handheld? Im surprised it's taking that long since Steam Deck. Would imagine 2026. 2027 seems like a long ways off. There is no planned Z3 lineup for AMD's next-gen APUs. The next OEM handheld APU lineup (if it happens at all, as AMD seems to be losing interest in this market) will be with their next-next-gen lineup in 2029. The only AMD handheld with AI upscaling anytime soon will be the Playstation handheld.
Im going to play the real version of cyberpunk....on my pc with my 5090.ahahaha steemdeck get the janitor version of cyberpunk aaa and glitch emulate nintendo game will never get switch 2 game over
What is with the ad hominem attack? I'm trying to make sense of what you are saying and again you are acting like this is to replace their console users. This is not the successor to their consoles, it's an additive product, not a substitute. You certainly are not familiar with console gamers!
Otherwise, you would have known that they never go for personal calculators after an elite console experience!
i harv pc but play 95% portimble now steamdeck is crud and nort spending 1000$ for unoptermized games let me be fatIm going to play the real version of cyberpunk....on my pc with my 5090.
ahahaha steemdeck get the janitor version of cyberpunk aaa and glitch emulate nintendo game will never get switch 2 game over
I wonder if they'll make it available for desktopthe hands on previews that went online had more info. it runs a special windows version that boots directly into a console like menu and doesn't run any of the desktop environment processes in the background, freeing up 2GB of memory compared to normal Windows, and apparently they are working to improve on that even further.
it also is less power hungry and has an improved sleep mode.
Modders are already working on It, give them time.
Microsoft: fans are angry about Xbox prices hikes.Microsoft: We're getting steam rolled by the console competition
Also Microsoft: Lets go compete against Steam lol
