I tried to watch since I'm big One Piece fan but it just felt wrong.

One Piece is very cartoony almost loony toon.


Live action just doesn't fit it….at least for me.

Well they might struggle when they get to that point in the show if they ever do but there is way way more to one piece than crazy powers

Where they are at the moment is still kinda grounded. Honestly it will probably be too expensive to make by Skypeia

I enjoyed the live action as somebody who was ready to hate. It retains the spirit of One Piece while having fun with it and not making it too grounded. Miraculously found a sweet spot, not that it was flawless by any means

Was also a massive success commercially

Regardless of how you feel about trans people, I can't possibly imagine a traditional Japanese company like Nintendo going along with a trans person playing one of their main characters. Nintendo is not in the business of sex-related controversy, given how they've always positioned themselves as family and kid friendly.
