I still don't understand why they're doing a live-action movie. Why not ask Studio Ponoc or another good Anime studio to make the movie (I would've suggested Studio Ghibli, but Miyazaki would probably tell Nintendo to fuck off).

That would be a good pick actually. Everyone hating on her for being trans like wtf? You'd never know unless you looked it up. They look like Zelda so it'd work if their acting is up to par.

Sadly I think it's just about the money.
Animated movies don't tend to do that well at the box office unless they are targeted at kids, even less so if it's 2D animation and not CGI.
I imagine with Zelda they'll try to make something targeting a slightly older demographic than Mario, and live action will probably be more appealing to casual audiences, specially if they throw in a few well known actors

(to be clear, it would still make a lot of money being animated...just not as much as live action).

I still think whoever made the Oregon tourism ads would be a good fit

My take is this

You can always count on Hollywood to ruin your beloved franchise, guaranteed. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Castlevania, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and so on

So you just have to able to mentally separate the games vs the movie. Just ignore the movies and keep enjoying the games

holy shit, man. That looks really cool.

Remember guys, you can now buy Sydney Sweeney's used bathwater-soap. That will probably make this (potential) casting easier to swallow for some of you:)

Let's be real, this isn't going to happen. This is CBR making shit up because they knew it would be effective clickbait.

Just because an actor/actress resembles the character doesn't make them the best fit for the role.

Came for the magic elf casting news, stayed for the philosophical musings about human sexuality.

But look, if there's anything that Hollywood has proven over the past few years, it's that Anya Taylor-Joy is contractually obligated to be in every movie, so it's gonna be her.

Global appeal, traditional 2D animation will not make you >$1B in box office. Now, CGI animation is definitely able to, but Nintendo thinks that Zelda is above that.

You can count on Hollywood on destroying your beloved franchise, 1000%

Zelda is one of my favourite game franchise. I absolutely have no hope for this movie
I am totally on board for this, as a diehard Zelda fan I want this movie to tank to oblivion. hire a black guy for link and make ganon a sentient computer! Go for it Sony make ART!
Good reminder:
The film will be produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc., and directed by Wes Ball. The film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., with more than 50% financed by Nintendo.
This essentially means that *every* single decision taken in the film's production and development is ultimately up to Nintendo.

Ngl, that makes me want to go to Oregon.
The video should have been slightly less exaggerated. They should have included the homeless camps, the people on meth who are constantly trying to jump out in front of traffic to scam people's insurance, and the general sense of apathy everyone here has towards work so that nothing ever gets done.

I haven't even watched the Simpsons in years. I know they do that.
Ok, but this doesn't look like an out of pocket pick, just to put a trans person in the role. They legitimately have the looks that fit the role and are talented at acting.
