Where i have to stop and really look at the opposite sex and question whether that's a women or not. If someone calls a man "she" just to avoid reality, that's not a personality quirk , that's pretending, and yes, it deserves correction

And if you think calling out wrong gender/pronouns is "obnoxious," then congratulations, you've made it clear you prefer politeness over truth

You can all him/her whatever you want in private, and the whole 'these are my pronouns' lecturers annoy the hell out of me too, but its just basic courtesy not to say it irl 'in your face' for no reason. As if you're reminding them 'oh i know what gender you are, don't pretend'. I'd rather have a non chalant response than be rude for no reason.

Being a Blair White or Hunter Schaffer, IE someone who passes as a looking female enough to "fool" people isnt this gotcha; it isn't akin to being like "you were fooled so that validated their womanhood"

The issue, in my opinion, is we are granting people who mutilate their bodies, demand others agree with their perception of "reality" as objective reality and then tell biological women, who I think would be at the top of the hierarchy on what "womanhood" is, they are the exact same as them; and if anyone disagrees and dares to take a stand, they're bigots and deserve to be punished - so when someone chooses to placate what I, and the majority of people think, is insanity - they get the type of hollow arguments you're making;

Think it would be hilarious personally. Imagine being married to a bilogical male and having kids and never knowing.

I imagine we'll be able to change our skin color as well, hopefully bringing an end to the ridiculous culture wars US spreads across the world.

first of all, won't happen, we're talking about mutilating bodies here... and despite things like AI tech having skyrocketed, plastic surgery is still brutal butchery even at its best that makes horrific attempts to mimic things, as everyone knows who watches the tragedy of women altering their faces to look young, and how quickly it devolves into a horror show

second, in some scifi scenario where men could be so physically altered so as to be indistinguishable from women... imagine a different scenario: not knowing whether a child in the playground is really a child, or actually an old man who transformed himself into a child surgically. And just as horrific as that would be as a parent, it is equally horrific to imagine that "women" around your kids in public are actually men who are getting off on the charade of pretending to pass as women. It's perverse and should of course be criminally prosecuted in public, just as any attempt to fundamentally trick others on sensitive topics (sexual, childhood, etc) should be.

Personally, I don't see the resemblance to Zelda. With any adaptation I think it's important to stay faithful to the source material. Zelda has always been portrayed as a cisgender woman, and I think the actor should reflect that, just as you'd cast someone who fits the right age or race for a character.

While I'm not against trans actors in principle and I agree that the role should ultimately go to whoever can portray it best, I don't think Hunter Schafer aligns closely enough with what most fans associate with Zelda, either in look or in identity. That's not a knock on Hunter's ability to act, but more about staying true to Zelda as character.

I know this is a sensitive topic for a lot of people, and I've been taking the piss a bit in this thread but I think it's fair to want adaptations to respect the core traits of their characters.

Well for me Zelda movie as live action is already worse thing ever, so who's playing as Zelda doesn't make much difference to me.

I'm already gonna avoid this like I did with One Piece live action.
 
considering this is a rumor, I imagine this is more the casting couch creeps of hollyweird before word gets to uncle Nintendo.

I don't see Ninty being "progressive" with a major franchise and character of theirs. The mario movie could have easily made peach a lesbo and mario a toxic male but it was the complete opposite, besides a little girl bossing but honestly it was barely a thing.

My bets would either be that this ends up actually being an offensive casting to the wokies because it's more for the Sheik character, and basically casting a dude pretending to be a woman as a character that is a woman pretending to be a dude.

Or

This casting gets to Uncle Nintendo and they laugh them out of the room, similar to how they did with ol Microsoft back in the day.

Guys, it's not actually going to happen. Nintendo is not going to risk ruining one of their biggest franchises because of political backlash. it's a children's game company, politically, the optics would be awful.

my assumption would be that prostitution in Thailand is probably one of the more viable sources of income and Thai men are maybe more effeminate and feel like they can easily pull it off 🤷‍♂️ and as GymWolf GymWolf said, with that being the case the cost of surgeries is probably cheap there and the demand is high.

this is coming from someone who finds the whole westerner going to third world thailand to get smashed on drugs and sleep with trans men fucking weird and the worst idea of a holiday. I believe in Holidays being an upgrade, not a downgrade, so I would never go there unless I really had to for work or for family.

That was a fancast on Twitter for 20 minutes before clickbaiters started pushing it as a legit rumor. Honestly fun to see how fast it developed in real time.

Doubt Nintendo would go for this shit.
 
Wouldn't be the worst casting tbh, he/she/they/them looks more like Zelda than most actors/actresses. I guess it's all some made up rumor but I think it could've worked.

You can do a lot more with animation. Not sure why Nintendo is so obsessed with live action when it comes to Zelda. I'll still watch it out of curiosity though...who knows it might actually be good (not holding my breath)
 
Actually looks like Zelda. Are they a particularly excellent actor? If so then both being a great actor and at least looking the part, even if they don't have the correct bits in their pants, that we'll never see, wouldn't be the worse casting. They could cast some pretty girl with all the acting range of a cabbage.

That said, the whole story is nonsense cooked up by their PR manager whilst their agent pitches to Nintendo for the role. This isn't coming from Nintendo.

Edit: If however they can't act then it would be bullshit woke points casting and will end up a pile of poop.

If they are going for an older Zelda I can see it. I don't know what he sounds like but in principle I have no issues with men playing women or the opposite. It has a long history in theatre and stage plays of all kinds.

Obviously if they also make Zelda the character trans for "representation" or whatever, that would be a different story.
