THR reports that Thomas Kretschmann has been cast as Wolfgang von Strucker in the movie. Wait, Thomas who? He's the guy playing Abraham Van Helsing right now on NBC's "Dracula," and he's mostly known stateside for his genre movie work in stuff like "Blade II," "Wanted" and "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," while also showing his dramatic chops in stuff like "The Pianist" and "U-571." So yeah, the German actor should do just fine playing the ageless former Nazi at the head of HYDRA.

Rumor is that
he only appears in the movie's opening sequence, which introduces Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

It's kinda weird how ageless Nazis don't change their political affiliations in the decades they've been alive. He must have really believed in the Nazi party to stick that one out past the end of WW2.

Supposedly, the Avengers will fight Strucker in the beginning of the film and Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch will be working for him.

Most of the villains have only been in one movie though.
If they didn't always kill them off,
they might be able to become popular like Loki has.

Abomination and The Red Skull aren't dead, Abomination is more than likely in the vault and Red Skull got sucked through a portal, he is coming back.

Not sure he will. Could have sworn I heard he wasn't exactly thrilled about the role

Weaving won't be back. But Red Skull will be.

Weaving shouldn't come back anyways, it wouldn't make sense for Red Skull to return and infiltrate the modern era using his original identity
.

Cap 2 speculation:
Robert Redford on the other hand...

You guys are breaking my heart with this no weaving skull talk. He has been my favorite bad guy so far. Screw Loki and his fangirls.

I think your second spoiler is on point. So much so that I'd actually be more surprised if he wasn't.

so...

How will Thanos fit in this Movie?

or is Thanos set only for Guardians....

According to Marvel, Thanos continues to work in the background in Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronan The Accuser is the main villain of that film and we don't yet know when it takes place in the timeline as yet.

It's unknown if he will have any role to play in Avengers 2. He is most likely being set up as the big bad for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and/or Avengers 3.

I just meant the rumor about Mandarin and time travel. http://theculturednerd.com/2013/12/...-time-travel-an-ultron-army-and-the-mandarin/

I cant read the site at work but I thought that BVS was involved some how.

Debunked.

That's true, it's just a little odd cause I thought they were Jewish like Magneto

Nope. They weren't actually raised by Magneto. Their mother, Magda, gave birth to them after leaving Magneto on Mount Wundagore in Transia. They didn't know Magneto was their father until well into adulthood.

Wolfgang von Strucker?

He's pretty badass as far as low powered supervillains go.

I hope they keep the bald head + monocle look. The spandex unitard they can keep.

His full Hydra-Nazi regalia is also a good look

Oh yeah. But wasn't she a gypsy? You'd think they'd have issue with workinh for Strucker
They didn't know their heritage for a long time. Hell they confirmed they have a sister 2 years ago.
A sister aside from Polaris?

The whole origin has to be changed for them anyway since they're not allowed to mention mutants in the Avengers movie. Maybe all of the Magneto/Gypsy mother stuff is getting thrown out altogether.

I think Loki was fun in Avengers, but he never felt like a real threat. More like a joke character to laugh at.

Eh. His threat was that he was manipulative and was able to get underneath peoples skin. He did a pretty good job. It's also a good setup for more powerful villains since they've now come together and will have to once again for an even greater foe.

Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch? Does Fox not own the rights to all X-men characters?

Yeah but they are avengers as well as far back as vol 1 issue like..16 or so. Its complicated but i think basically Fox has everything Xmen so mutants and those that were created for or in those books. Likely they just threw wolverine in at the time since he's not an xmen creation or property but became the most popular char in the book.
