This show really is great. How many viewers do they get on this show?
It's the most popular show that FX has ever aired.

Last night was phenomenal. Poor Kenny Johnson. Kurt Sutter sure loves blowing you up. That ending scene with Opie and Unser was amazing. Talk about making you look forward to the next episode.

Season 4 has been so much fun to watch. I can't wait to see how it ends.

But part of me is a little jaded. I fear that Sutter will pull out another finale that makes little sense and with zero foreshadowing. I'm sorry, but as much as seeing Stahl get it in the end, the finale of season 3 made little sense. There was no indication the entire series that Jax was a double (or would it be technically triple) agent. I hope they don't pull that crap at the end of season 4.

I'm a little fuzzy on Season 3 in general, but Jax was only semi-working with Stahl for that season, correct, not the entire series?

And in any case, it's not like it was something completely out of character or anything. If anything, it would have been weirder if he DIDN'T end up betraying Stahl in the end. Sure, we didn't get to see the part where he sat down with everybody and said "Hey guys, Stahl is trying to blackmail me, let's plan out how we'll take her down", but it had more dramatic impact the way it was shown to us.

I feel sort of the same way. Sure it had no foreshadowing and it was out of nowhere, but it was believable for the character. I'll take an out of left field ending over the Ireland bullshit.

Last nights episode was great. I really feel bad for Opie, he is becoming the new Otto.

It's not just the lack of foreshadowing that annoyed me, but also that it was another season of Jax saying, "I need to change. I need to go clean. I need to get out. This is the way I do it." He even considered giving up his baby so that Able could have a life that wasn't effected by SOA. And then, going against everything that was presented to the viewer for an entire season he played the triple agent. I can't over look it.

Amazing episode. Poor Opie, he's been trough so much shit for the club. If there's someone that has to kill Clay, that should be Opie. Kill him with your beard, man!

Just turn your brain off when you watch this show. The less I think about it, the more I'm able to like it.

Tig too. Well basically all of the club will be against Clay now if they hear about what happened to Gemma and Piney.
Yeah, which makes you wonder why Clay still cares about trying to get rid of Tara. That woman is the least of his problems.

Awesome episode, but I felt there was no need whatsoever to add the fight over the baby side story. Not a fan of the Juice side story so adding this onto things will degrade the show a bit, hopefully it doesn't play too prominent of a role.

truth.. it's a lot more fun this way

Did anyone catch the homosexual undertone in the Otto and The Asst U.S. Attorney scene?

wasnt much of an undertone lol

speaking of which sutter does a good job in the small role he's made for himself which otherwise could have been self indulgent

While I'm not too keen on the execution, the whole point is that he can't escape. It's more than an addiction - it's his entire world. It's not like there aren't physical boundaries to keep him from leaving, but he keeps making up excuses of when he needs to go, how this is going to go down before he gets out, etc. And even then, he's still in the system and has dragged Tara to hell with him.

If you actually watch through the season again, there are subtle hints towards it.

There had to be some foreshadowing considering I predicted that was going to happen shortly after he made the deal.

I hadn't thought about it before, but with the reintroduction of Jax's ex, I'm starting to think that Tara will become an addict (prescription pain killers) at some point during the next season.

This feels like an endgame. What the hell is Sutter planning for another 3 seasons?

You know what? Whatever. Bring it on.
I posted this before the season started from on Sutter's blog:

- Sutter with a few thoughts on S4 over on his blog:
Hamlet Maybe

As I close in on writing the last three episodes of the season, I am beginning to clearly see the final act of Sons. This awareness took me back to the Hamlet archetype that inspired the show and I'm trying to envision how much of the series will eventually come back around to that homage.

Some. I think.

There are big character shifts in season four. We knock people off the fence and we make them choose. The finale for season four will feel like a series end in a lot of ways, but the truth is, it will create a new beginning. The beginning of the end. Season five and six, if I'm lucky enough to get, will explore that new dynamic. Season seven will be all about the fall of heroes and the rise of men.

As far as potential shit I may actually steal from the Bard, it comes down to themes. I will definitely continue to play out the ghost of Hamlet's father theme, the conflicted son theme and the plotting mother theme. As well as some others. And there may even be a few narrative lifts from the Shakespearean playbook as well. I won't spoil those. I can tell you this, the show doesn't end in a pool of blood with all players dead.

That will happen in season six... just kidding. I think.

And in light of my recent social media extraction, I thought I'd leave you with this from Act 1, scene 3:

"Give thy thoughts no tongue."

Pretty much. Its great entertainment. No show is without its plot-holes anyways.

This is definitely my favorite season so far. Whoever plays Opie did a really fantastic acting job at the end of that last episode. Really felt for him.

he cares because the cartel wants her gone as well.

Clay is going to steal Abel and run off to Mexico.

We've done Mexico. Let's go to Canada, that's where the real fun is at.

He could also see her as the root of his problems with Jax and Gemma. That's more what I'm going with - it's much more personal.

Good to see Opie coming back into the story. You just know its going to be him running the club after all this shit goes down.

I agree, it's going to be interesting to see where this arc is going...

If we hadn’t already done the whole kidnapping thing in previous seasons of SoA, I’d be inclined to think that Clay will do a runner and take Tara with him as leverage and hide within the Cartel, but surely they wouldn’t go down that road again? I will be utterly shocked if they kill Clay off, but I’m not sure what else can happen with him.

I'm not liking that they made Clay into this archvillan personality so suddenly.

I would love to see Opie running the club, Jax is easily my least favorite character.

None of this Clay shit has been sudden... It's been brewin' since he put the hit out on Ope and killed Donna instead. The dude is a two face and he'll get what's comin'.

He's never been a good guy, but this season with the Cartel they made the character suddenly go off the deep end

good episode, I was getting worried after the Piney crap:

"You have until tonight to get us out of this or I will expose you, also I will be all alone in my very isolated cabin tonight"..it was almost insulting

I said it at the beginning of the season, but I can very much see this Cartel deal being the Sons' "Money Train", haunting them for the rest of their days. Either that or it will literally all be wrapped up in the season finale and barely referenced again. No middle ground.

I can also see Clay dying a JT death in the season finale (i.e. escaping all the Sons who want him dead, riding away to exile and his arthritis getting the better of him, causing him to crash and die)

I was thinking about this earlier, and there have been a lot of people kidnapped or held hostage on this show over the years.

Heh, that'd be very unsatisfying if Clay's death was him losing control and crashing into a telephone pole or something.

Did you catch how quickly the Lobos were wiped out in the last episode? They killed like 8 guys and it was "that's it, they're finished". Kind of a half-assed cartel.

gotta quote this again. the shit with clay has not been a sudden transition. they've made it clear since season one he is a ruthless mother fucker. he just is getting worse and worse but in no way was this sudden.

but holy shit at the episode. i was fucking excited to see Unser give Opie the truth and not feed him some lies. I am interested in Gemma's play here with the Clay situation, she is keeping both Jax and Unser at bay, I was hoping she'd be ruthless in her wanting him dead. Fuck, I can't wait to see how the remaining episodes play out.

I think this is the only show that I've come across where I haven't hated any of the characters, well I dislike the Mayans/Mexicans but they just seem to just try to damn hard to be Mexican? Is that racist?

The Lobos in California, yes, but it's a fucking cartel, they'll have plenty of ridiculously tough soldiers over the border. Additionally, much like in the case of the Money Train, eliminating the current threat led to many others.

Undeclared is hilarious. It's amusing to see Charlie Hunnam in a much different role, as well. Undeclared was a good incubator for comedy talent and there are a lot of people that cameo on it that went on to decent careers in TV and film.

Last episode was NUTS. Opie looked like he was Hulking out at the end.

We need an Opie Hulking out Gif!! lol

I agree , she is not gonna take all this BS well. She is very emotional and seems like an addictive personality.

Wasn't he on the British version of Queer as Folk, too?

EDIT: Yes sir, he was.
