Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Useful tip that you guys might not have realized: You get all your ink filled after using all(?) special moves. Great to empty your tank, use a special, then keep shootin.

A decent tip is to also save specials for the last second if you can, even if the time ends the game will wait for your special to act. So, for example, you can save that Ink Strike stuff and use it when there's like a second left.

GGs Ferrio. Nice to see you finally decide on the roller.

The magic of Splatoon is that you can be the biggest loser on your team and still be a winner (had a 1 kill to 8 death ratio once and scored the most points on my team to take home the bacon).
No that's the worst part lol. Losers should stay losers

I guess we found the real reason for no OFF-TV. Nintendo doesn't want to let anyone die from playing too much. It's midnight and I need to wake up early omorrow and the only reason I'm not playing more Splatoon is because there's no TV in my bedroom.

That would be much better strategy if you didnt lose your special once you die lol, so its a risky play

I always stay back and build up my special first so I can atleast us it once, then use it and then go forward and fight and paint

Level 11, almost 12. Know what I just realized today? You can squid jump to your teammates at any point during a match, not just during a respawn. I had no freaking idea until earlier when I accidentally pressed a teammate's icon on the game pad. This changes everything.

Also, this might be an obvious tip but...while you are performing a squid jump to a location, hold down the ZR button while in the air to let out a few shots on the way down. This is especially useful if you use the Splat Roller because you will literally hit the ground running.

Then you're not a loser. Kills are important, but they're not the goal. You did your job.

But yes, people who aren't as good at shooting can actually be vital team members.

You risk dying and having to build up the special again though. I know it's happened a lot to me lol. Plus unless you're at the very end you might be wasting the chance to get off more specials.

Just got this game now I can't even get into a match, every time it gives me the error that I "Failed to connect to partner's device."

If I'm not into competitive shooters AT ALL, but I love most things Nintendo, will I still enjoy this? Does it have enough of that Nintendo feeling to help me cross the barrier into a genre I don't usually like? For example, I don't like RTS games, but I love the weird Pikmin version of an RTS.

I find shooters boring and generally don't touch them with rare exceptions like Goldeneye, where I sucked at it - but the multiplayer was still a lark anyway.

Splatoon kind of makes things fun by giving you two objectives, take out the enemy *and* ink all the things. It also does a reasonably good job of teaching shooting mechanics from the single player mode.

There's LOTS of great Nintendo touches, the Hub is a bit basic, but feels alive because it's populated with other players characters, and Miiverse posts become graffiti on the walls and in stages. The single player campaign makes use of a ton of neat platform-esque ideas that get you thinking (and prepares you for multiplayer in an intuitive way)

Pretty sure I just got fucking tea bagged. Dude killed me then went in the ink five or six times in where I died.
Rude as hell.
That happened to me once, but I was just laughing because he didn't even take advantage of my death to push forward and I just jumped near him nd killed him in a few seconds so it was like I never died

I would like to see someone good with the blaster cause dear god does it suck. You can cover ground easier with the splatterscopes than that thing.

Almost Level 11 now. Enjoyed playing with various gaffers earlier; some good, some not so good playing by myself, Lol. Fingers crossed we get Splat Zones tomorrow :)

This can't be true. I'm in Japan with the U.S. Version and when I logged in this morning the clothes were the same as last night.

The clothes roster changed for me bang on midnight my time. (PAL UK) - I guess if it's on a US Wii U, then it's set to one of the US costal times

Checked out this guy to see about buying some of his gear and had a good laugh at his Miiverse post.

Of course, it only works if you get your special at the end. It'd be silly to save a special for 2+ minutes! But if you have 10-15 seconds left, better spend them inking and then launch the special in the last second.

My connection is preventing me from getting 20 tonight. Sucks, but I got to play a ton without any problems all weekend, so I can't be too upset. I love this game.

Theres a certain satisfaction to be had in setting off a rocket that splatters the enemy's base, right after the call to stop comes.

Level 15 and I didn't know this lmao. Changes a lot. Also makes the bubble even better, hop to a teammate and activate it. Awesome!

I blazed through to level 10 today, beat the second world in single player, and completed the first set of girl amiibo challenges. The only reason I didn't double my progress today is because my house has one HD television that has to be shared amongst six people. Off-TV play would have been a godsend for Splatoon, even if they only implemented it for single player.

Absolutely loving it, of course. I'm just sitting here counting down the hours until I can play again.

Ranked mode tomorrow, please.

I'm having a lot of fun with the Miiverse graffiti feature of the game..
This felt appropriate for Moe to say, given his attitude.

Heh found this on tumblr:

Back from my trip with game and inkling girl amiibo in hand, probably won't play much until tomorrow though. My NNID is Geggin and I'm adding myself to the thing on the first page too

I am inclined to agree with you. I have been playing around with it, it can cover some ground if you get used to it, and it is handy for enemies hiding around corners, but it feels very slow, always get very low scores when using the thing. will experiment a bit more myself but I think I may go for something more convenient (which is a shame, I kind of like shotgun style weapons like this in most games)
