So maybe I'm wrong, but at the end of Chapter 5 when you can still walk around on the island, when you have to head over to the "ruins"/Hopes' Peak, if you open the map to jump there it has a pink X on Hajime's face just like the other dead students.

I think I took a screenshot, but I can't check now because my friend is borrowing my Vita to play it.

Was I wrong? Was I just looking at the wrong person and I thought I saw an X on Hajime when it was really on someone else?

Could this mean anything?

It's there extra content at the end? I've done the Report Cards for the characters I want and the trips seem pretty uninteresting.

Every character has a 'school trip' ending that you get by maxing out their affection with Trip Cards, but that's about it as far as extra content goes.

you can imagine that this is canon in some alternate universe ;_;

Well, time to finish Island Mode lol.

This got me thinking with all the island mode endings, maybe the way to cure the ultimate despairs is to have them fall in love with someone else like..... Hinata!

This is basically setting up for a Danganronpa Harem, lol

So, ever since I created super moves for every student in a hypothetical fighting game based on DR1, I've received multiple requests both on GAF and off to give DR2 a similar treatment. Problem was, since I hadn't played the game yet, I felt that I couldn't create moves that adequately did the cast justice.

BUT I CAN NOW!

So here you go, my list of hypothetical supers for a hypothetical Danganronpa 2 fighting game. DQCF is shorthand for "double quarter circle forward," by the way. Hope you enjoy!

Chiaki Nanami said:
DQCF+A: "No, that's wrong!...I think." (Chiaki loads a Truth Bullet into a light gun and fires it at the opponent. If it misses, it will ricochet around the battlefield for a short period of time until it hits the opponent. Can be fired in three different directions)

DQCF+B:"I'm experienced at mapping." (Chiaki concentrates, causing two "weak points" (represented by pixellated reticles) to appear on the opponent's torso and legs. As long as the reticles remain, Chiaki's attacks to the affected areas will deal more damage and have more hitstun, opening up new combo opportunities)

DQCF+C: "Video games are my hobby." (Chiaki's Galaga hairpin grows to a larger size and hovers next to her. Pressing any button will make it fire shots, similar to Strider's Ouroboros super from the MvC series. The amount of time it lasts is proportionate to how long the button is held down when the super is initiated)

Despairing Execution: "Please Insert Coin" (Chiaki dons a Power Glove and presses a button, trapping the opponent in a giant Tetris piece, which is then dropped into a row of other Tetris pieces, completing a line and causing them all to explode)

Nanami_%2814%29.png

Hello yes, can this please, please, please be a thing that exists in a game.

Anyone else think that this scene might have been a glimpse at Akane's Ultimate Despair self?
How she was saying she was going to kill Nagito was slightly uncharacteristic of her, and afterwards she said she didn't know what came over her and she wasn't even aware of what she was doing. Chiaki was all "She wouldn't have killed him even if I didn't slap her" (which I'm not too sure of). Could have simply been blind rage, though.

From the SDR2 artbook:

As expected from a protagonist, Hinata is always spending his time talking with everyone about one thing or another. He’s in popular demand with not only the girls, but the guys as well — could this be the brink of some tumultuous love affairs?!

Owari: C’mon, use my boobs for a pillow!
Nanami: … Wake me up, won’t you?
Sonia: I bequeath unto him a great admiration!
Saionji: Big bro is as plain as you can get!
Koizumi: He’s kind of a wimp.
Tsumiki: Please don’t tease meee…
Mioda: Come be the drummer in Ibuki’s band!
Pekoyama: He’s no martial arts master.
Monomi: I wuv him sooo much!!
Monokuma: He’s stubborn to a fault.
Kuzuryuu: Let’s drink to become sworn brothers.
Nidai: Self-discipline is its own reward.
Hanamura: Doesn’t he give off the feeling of boys’ love?
Souda: Soul friends!
Tanaka: He possesses his own singular points.
Togami: Come and be my worthy partner.
Komaeda: He and I are a lot alike.

His talent was actually "The Ultimate Sex Bender"

:lol Mukuro in the background of that pic.

I should really nab that artbook, though.

It contains everything you could possibly ever want to know about the DR cast, information on the universe, etc. That and it's got some righteous art.

Too bad barely any of it is translated ;_;

It'd be nice if we could get those localized.

If it got localized by a company like Udon, it would be their biggest localization by far. It's over 500 pages and art is only half of it. It's mostly interviews, descriptions of characters along with their hobbies and character relationships, the thought processes behind the executions. All and all there's way more to translate than your average artbook.

Just finished IF. (Novel spoilers.)

Man, that was an excellent story. I loved every bit of it. Mukuro and Sakura teaming up was so awesome that I was amazed the world didn't implode. Makoto/Mukuro OTP.

The guys sound more interested in him than the girls. :p

Who's the old man? The Izuru that was on the portrait?

Ah, that kind of explains why it hasn't happened. That's a shame, since it sounds like it'd contain a ton of interesting information.

Dammit. Artbook sounds amazing. I'll be sad if we never see it overseas.

That'd be the headmaster, yeah.

hmm.. a lot of it is text isn't it?

I would say 2/3'rds are art and pictures accompanied by descriptive text, but 1/3rd is just text. The best part of artbooks are the descriptions that go with the art since you get to know more about the art, but none of it is translated so it loses some of the impact.

I have seen the light.

Also, at the very beginning, I thought Mahiru was Mukuro in disguise again due to her freckles and I was so happy. ;_;

Mahiru would have been a lot more interesting if she was actually Mukuro trying to pretend to be the Ultimate Photographer.

She really would have.

See, I didn't feel the same camaraderie and friendship between the members of the DR2 cast as I did the DR1 cast. I felt it between two or three people (Mahiru and Hiyoko, Nekomaru and Akane, Gundham and Sonia), but not the group as a whole, if that makes any sense.

Aaaand another for the ever-growing fanart folder.

So what's the general consensus as to what the best execution is? I really like Deep Fried Teruteru, if only because of its amazing music (seriously, that radio chatter is like ear porn) and the fact that it's evocative of The 1000 Blows, which is my personal favourite execution.

Gundam Falls to the Earth was also really awesome too , even if it made me cry.

I actually think the opposite. Especially comparing the survivors, I felt that the DR2 cast had a stronger bond, while there was something off—like a constant underlying suspicion—between members of the DR1 cast, which changes when most of the cast is already dead and Byakuya states his resolve to no longer participate.

Oh, speaking of executions, I think I preferred DR1's sprite treatment for Monokuma's Punishment Time compared to the kind of Virtual Boy looking thing of DR2's.

DR2 cast certainly did a lot more mourning. Looking back at DR1, everyone seemed to get over their dead classmates real quickly, with maybe the exception of Sakura. But in DR2, there's pretty much always a sizable portion of the following chapter that involves remembrance of the recently departed.

Deep Fried Teruteru definitely had amazing music. I wish there was a full version of 'Reach For The Stars' out there somewhere. :(

Best execution handily goes to Chiaki and Usami's, though. Really inspired usage of music, with rhythm evocative of the cripplingly anxiety inducing[/i ] execution of Kyoko and Makoto - that despair-inducing sense of ever-marching inevitability and terror, augh.

Gundham's execution was truly inspiring, though. When that picture of him fades in over the horizon. ;_;7

Steel

After Steel said that, that's pretty much what came to mind as a possible DR3 mastermind. Shit.

Thinking about his suicide, though, I wonder if he really gained the will to kill himself after learning he was an Ultimate Despair. It sounded like he didn't want to die for nothing after discovering who they all really were, so I guess that's when he started to develop his plan.

Actually, considering how much it was trumped up how unlikely it'd be for the ones that died to come back, I can see Nagito's Ultimate luck coming up. Would not want him to become Junko though. Shit but I definitely can see it happening... Damn it.

Well, if Another Episode has nothing to do with Junko, at least that'd set a precedent, right?

It was kinda with both games that it took until probably half the cast getting killed before people started becoming friends or stuff.

Pretty much, unless they were pretty close to the dead person, Sayaka, Mondo, Sakura, everyone in DR1 pretty much got over it. And even then, it was only a few or a single person who mourn.

God, they are all such heartless people.

Hm, I see your point... It's kind of funny. DR1 cast were friends before being wiped, but took little time to mourn when the killing started.

DR2 cast were all Despairs before being wiped, and really had to struggle to keep going once the killings began.

Very interesting.

My favorites were TeruTeru's and Gundhams as well.

However, I think we can all agree that Mikan's execution can fuck off into space. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I think with the DR2 cast, some of them could have very possibly been friends before becoming Despairs. It's just that it is probably buried even deeper than their Despair memories.

It just that it would have been less of the whole the entire class got along with DR1.

Oh la la la doh la la la. I love that track.

Teruteru's and Gundham's were both great, but I'd have to go with Chiaki and Usami. That was the most emotional execution for me, as I'd grown to really like Chiaki, and they did a great job of keeping up tension in the sequence by drawing it out painfully.

My reactions to each execution, summed up:

Ch. 1: Holy shit. Amazing.

Ch. 2: Peko nooooo whyyyyy ;A;

Ch. 3: ... What the hell was that even?

Ch. 4: Shine on Gundham, you beautiful bastard. ;_;7

Ch. 5: NO! No no no no! I'm never playing Tetris again! Dammit!

Ch. 6: That's right. GET FUCKING WRECKED, JUNKO. ... Did her breasts jiggle during that? What the fuck?
