What is the point of buying and selling profile backgrounds when you can just select one from the list?

If it was done while you were idling you'd be complaining that steam is eating up your system resources with processes you have no interest in or didn't request. Suffer the one time update with some dignity, come on now.

Do you have to be a certain level for custom backgrounds? I can't find the option.

Profile backgrounds are not restricted by level, you'll find the option for them in the edit profile page just under the summary text box.

Really, huh? I was using one at level 6 so I incorrectly assumed that if you were in the beta you could use one, sorry. After all you receive them from crafting and trades, do you have one in your inventory, maybe the option is disabled unless there is one to select? I'll hunt around and see if I can find the answer.

Do you have to have a background already to have the option available? I'm not seeing it with Enhanced Steam in Firefox. Nevermind, I can't read.
Also that A:CM deal is $20 before rebate unfortunately. Jesus, I really can't read today.

Thanks, yeah you need to have a background in your inventory in order for the option to show. I put mine up for sale which removes them from your inventory and the background option is no longer there. Can understand why it would be confusing.
This reminds me, I need to finish off the Community Ambassador badge. Steam tells me I unlocked the badge some time ago, but I'm fairly sure I didn't get the XP bonus, presumably due to the fact that I haven't actually completed all the tasks.

I wish there was a place that listed the games you owned that had cards. The 'Badge' section only seems to show recently (like, 1 week) played games.
I don't think you need to do all of them. I got the badge and think I didn't do like 2 or 3 of the items.

I saw Towelliee play for a bit on Twitch a while ago. Looked just OK to me. Didn't seem very populated for an MMO. No idea though really. I only saw about an hour of game play.

yeah no kidding. They're better off with a page. One thing I did noticed is that they added the steam trading cards as a 'feature' of the games now. Hadn't seen that before.
