I honestly don't think my parents did anything wrong when they did do corporal punishment, but I will also say that my parents were "tame" compared to your example and others I usually hear. When my parents were still doing corporal punishment, they would make me and my siblings hold out our hands and would smack the palm of our hands with a belt 5 times. At the most, my hand would be red/sore for an hour. I'm sure some in the Adrian Peterson thread would find this horrific though.
But I do agree that non corporal punishment methods are better.
