The Division PC performance thread

I think I'm getting around the same fps as in the beta at 3440x1440. Haven't installed the new nvidia driver yet due to all the issues I'm hearing but definitely not having any problems when the game goes from 30-60 fps.

For people having issues with uplay, Nvidia cards and Windows10, try uninstalling GeForce experience. After I uninstalled it, all my uplay games launched with no issue and didn't notice any crashes.

Here's a crazy issue I'm having with this UPlay client:

If I have my Elite controller connected wirelessly, and I launch the UPlay app, if at any point I turn off the Elite controller, my mouse input gets broken. Any kind of mouse input just results in beeps from the speakers. Even unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in does nothing, I've only been able to resolve that state by rebooting.

What in hell. I've never really seen anything like that before.

I have exactly the same issue...

One issue I've now just started to notice are shadows that seemingly disappear right in front of me if I just turn the camera ever so slightly to the left or right. It's very jarring. Hopefully it's fixes with a patch.

Ditto.
Elite Wireless Controller, connected with the Wireless Dongle for Windows 10... Uplay opened up...

When it disconnects, my mouse input actually "beeps" and becomes unresponsive all together. Very strange.

If you could, take a few minutes and send in a support ticket about it as well, if only to increase odds that it gets escalated.

I also have a post about it on the Division forums in their tech support if you want to post there, I imagine they have more support folks eyeing that forum and may escalate it from there if they see multiple people reporting it:

Are you guys on Windows 10? I have the same problem with both Elite and regular Xbox One controllers. Yeah, a hard reboot is the only thing that will fix it for me.

Exact same for me.

Something I noticed,

I have a Logitech g710 mechanical keyboard and every time I boot up the game, the back lights on my keyboard turn off and only turn back on when in game. When there is a cutscene the lights turn back off. When I am in a firefight with enemies the lights are flashing on my keyboard. It's kind of cool but weird at the same time.

Anyway to turn off?

Yes. It also occurs if you are using a wired connection. It's not the Xbox Accessories app, either, as I ran a repro test with it uninstalled (and rebooted). I bet it would occur with any XInput based device.

Yeah, it's under 3rd Party Settings in the options. LED keyboard support, I think.

Damn.

Having the same issue with the mouse making noises since the latest driver update, uplay was not open.

Well that's bloody annoying.

wonder why GameGPU gets different results than Guru3d or PCGameshardware or Computerbase

AMD perf scales super high in indoor areas, nvidias only goes up a little. gamegpu bench is indoors, pcgh bench outdoors. pcgh also uses some of the fastest factory OC nvidia cards(this adds 20%~ to the 970/980/980ti), gamegpu uses stock.

btw, do you know if maxwells dx12/11.3 features can be accessed through nvapi without dx12/11.3?

DF did a video showing how performance profiles change between the 970 and 390. in the most demanding outdoor areas a 970 gets very close, but as framerates go up the 390 pulls ahead. PCGH scene was the worst case scenario in the beta content.

The Computerbase benchmarks seem the best as they test multiple factory overclocked and referenced cards as well: from both NV and AMD.

Most of the gameplay I experienced in the beta was outdoors. Does the built in bechmark do an indoor area or outdoor one?

I believe so!

Direct3D11

Use the NVIDIA NvAPI to create an ID3D11RasterizerState, the interface for this is shown below:

NvAPI_D3D11_RASTERIZER_DESC_EX NVAPI_RS_DESC;
NVAPI_RS_DESC.ConservativeRasterEnable = TRUE; // Enable conservative raster
NvAPI_D3D11_CreateRasterizerState(pD3D11Device,(const NvAPI_D3D11_RASTERIZER_DESC_EX*)&NVAPI_RS_DESC,&m_pConservativeRaster);

Direct3D11.3 & Direct3D12

These future Direct3D API’s will include full support for this feature, as detailed on slide 24 and 25 of this presentation:
OpenGL

Use the GL_NV_conservative_raster extension.
NVIDIA also has an OpenGL GameWorks SDK sample demonstrating how to set up Conservative Rasterization.

cool, thx. seems like their new shadow tech is close to what they showed in that mecha demo which used CR for it

i think the pcgh mentioned the built in benchmark does a flyby over some city streets.

yeah even outdoor theres some variance, i edited my previous post but heres the DF video from the beta showing how performance profiles change between amd and nvidia depending on scene and load

I wonder what the technical reasons are behind that... especially since it is so darn consistent between different scenes. Maybe the AMD driver is culling out stuff differently? I have no idea.

Yeah. It seems like it. Pretty darn high quality for those tiny details. I think they also added those contact shadows between the beta and now... I definitely do not remember the option at least from the beta... let alone the visual effect.

i remember the option being there for sure in the beta. would need comparisons to see if it was enabled tho.

Anyone getting single digit frames when turning on HFTS?

Im on a 3K surround 980ti settup and otherwise get 60, right up until i turn on hfts, at which point im lucky if i get 6fps.

Any chance I could reach 60 frames with a 780 at 1440p? I'm skeptical.

Maybe on low or medium. My sli 970's get 60 with a bunch of more performance intense settings turned down. it gets around 40 with only one card working with those same settings.
I'd suggest using nvidia's performance guide to get your settings right

40-50 fps with everything maxed on SLI GTX 980ti's.

Am I supposed to be using those beta drivers?

They might have pulled them, but I could be mistaken. I'm currently using the initially released "broken" drivers from yesterday, and have just avoided turning on my other displays.

As for your performance, surely when the drivers are re-released things will improve for you.
I have a Titan X SLI + 5960X setup, and I'm getting a consistent 85+ FPS (75+ during heavy firefights) at 1440p.

Well I see new drivers on there listed as beta (364.51) so I'll download them and try them out.

Driver from yesterday was 364.47. I'm seeing new drivers now, 364.51

Outdoor scenes are more CPU bound in general, indoor scenes are more GPU bound in general. What you're seeing in this video is a) a bad AMD's DX11 driver at play in outdoor and/or b) the lack of engine's optimization for NV's GPUs indoor.

It's a problem with the X1 dongle, I had the same issue with Far Cry Primal:

its not cpu limitatiom, perf scales upwards just fine on faster gpus from both camps

Booted up first time, black screen, can hear the audio but no picture? Anyone else have this issue?
Edit: rebooted through geoforce experience and seemed to be working fine now.
I thought nvidia pulled the last driver update 362.47 at the end. It just asked me to update to that driver. I didn't but thought that update was already pulled by nvidia.

i was having this exact problem. Are you using the wireless dongle? some forums paint that as the culprit.

check these forums

Tried what was recommended here and it seems to have worked so far.

nvidias new shadow tech. hybrid frustum traced shadows

Thanks for that. Didn't even notice it was there! I'm on a 980ti sli rig @ 1440p and not had it drop below 60 for more than a few seconds. Everything is maxed except for post aa and reflections.

Edit: I keep getting totally random crashes to desktop. Sometimes a few minutes in, others an hour or more later. Getting very frustrating. No temperature issues, utilization is good, no other junk running in the background, Win 10, ssd, and on latest beta drivers.

I'm on high preset and getting 45 fps average. Sometimes it dips below 40, and sometimes above 50.
On the lowest settings, my PC can't keep 60fps all the time so I'm settling with high.
