And then she tries to murder her at the drop of a hat. We can take Su's words with a helping of salt. Probably just said that to shift the blame and to big herself up to Korra. "Oh I saved that poor little orphan girl, she was like my daughter." Yet she never introduced her to Korra or even conversed with her on screen. I can actually agree with Kinvara when she said that Su viewed Kuvira like a show dog. She raised and groomed her but never really gave her any affection.

Yep, Su was full of shit as usual, no doubt in my mind. The difference in the way she treated Kuvira and Baatar, even though she supposedly saw Kuvira as a daughter, was mind boggling.

Eh. Parents in general have very little inclination towards their children. Unalaq was going to off his kids for no reason, Ozai ozai'd zuko and spoiled Azula, etc.

But yeah, I know what you mean, we don't get a lot of characterization of their relationship. But still. Still. The relationship is set up as a maternal one, even if it's not good. Which just makes it squick.

Just thinking about Su gets me mad, that woman got away with murder time and time again, its fucking ridiculous. You know what, fuck it, I'm jumping on the Suvira train, anything that makes Su look uncomfortable is fine by me. Fuck Su.

I can see kuvira loving Su like an actual mother as a kid considering she really didn't get that much conscious time with her own mother. Probably did what Lin did with Toph and modeled parts of herself after Su. Even after that she gets shafted anyway and just winds up playing second fiddle to Su's actual kids. I mean I can't blame Su but at the same time it's a bit shit if she ignored whatever feelings Kuvira had.

Boom!

As for the anime:

I know I'm the LAST person who should be complaining about this, but was it necessary to give this woman outrageously large tits??

There is a really compelling story to be told about Kuvira's time growing up under Su. It might even be the most fertile ground fanfic writers have to expand any character without clashing in continuity with the show. It just doesn't include any sexual or romantic overtones.

Yeah that's true it's fun to play around with though. If Su is as hippy as Kya is there being sexual undertones aren't really that far fetched.

Yep.

Was a fan of the earlier Kuvira childhood pics people would draw since it added so much to the real thing (which is a fucking sad state but that's not the point of this right now) by showing a better time and also what the hell happened for such a change to occur (she fucking tries to KILL HER now, WTF).

Kagari from "Witch Craft Works"
*googles*

Lawdy lawd.

Her group is basically Team Rocket ha.

No one can be as bad as TR, the most useless group ever, especially in the games.

Idk man, Mako racked up more Ws than this group so far

This is Kagari?

Regarding Ranma 1/2 I have a thing for Ukyo, nobody on here except for maybe 360pages has probably watched it I would imagine though.

She's so my Ranma bae, fuck Akane...I like Kodachi's crazy ass too.

She's like Azula mixed with Ty Lee.

That's her, and I need to check out Ranma 1/2 sometime

Ranma has some Korra elements to it, depending on how you watch it. It's not that action packed though so if you want a break from action it's a pretty decent show. Kind of weird though. Eventually they drop the fighting for the later seasons I swear. Ukyo is best girl though.

Sounds good.

Thanks man. For those of you who like the twice a week idea: do you prefer set days of the week or a continually rotating three day cycle? Personally I lean towards starting new episodes on Wedsnedays and Saturdays for the regularity, but the rotating schedule might be good for people with different schedules? Just thought I'd ask.

I would suggest doing one episode a week. Two-parters should be done as one episode, as well as Sozin's Comet. Doing it once a week ensures that there is ample time for everyone to watch the episode and discuss it enough. Plus, if we can post it in OT, then more people would jump in, and we'd have a bigger group in on it. Hell, we may get people new to the series this way. Multiple days a week might be overwhelming.

I'd agree only if this thread stays in community. If it goes into OT, there's a chance we could treat it like any other show thread, because it might be a bigger group of people and may even garner new people.

You raise a good point about not wanting to require too much viewing time per week for people to keep up with the thread. I wouldn't be able to be part of this if it required hours upon hours of watching. On the other hand though, I've never liked watching TV shows week-to-week and always find it less satisfying than a swifter pace. I don't think I'm alone in this, since when this thread's predecessors were in the OT forum while Korra was airing, the discussion of each new episode would rarely last more than 3-4 days before everything had been hashed over and people started getting antsy while waiting for the next one.

Also, it's my understanding that the mods prefer that general discussion threads for specific fandoms stay in the community forum, at least once the show/movie/whatever its based on has ended. I believe that's the reason why this thread was moved to community a couple months ago. I've been in touch with with Shouta and Gotchaye regarding whether we could make a new thread in OT, and they were not opposed to the idea. However, they did say that it should stick strictly to rewatch discussion and not become a catch-all AvatarGAF thread, and that it might be moved to community eventually.

Absolutely! The more the merrier!

I'm in total agreement. I hope that we attract people who aren't regulars in the community thread for one reason or another, and perhaps also people who haven't seen the series before. The latter is the one of the reasons I'd prefer to have a separate rewatch thread though, so that we can keep things relatively spoiler-free (or just tagged, probably) without restricting anyone's ability to discuss the entirety of ATLA and TLOK in the main community thread.

I eagerly look forward to LoK comics, just to see where they go from how the show ended.

Has it actually been confirmed that there will be TLOK comics? The last I remember hearing about was the new Gene Yang/Gurihiru one with the Gaang.

I think it's on Hulu, I'll give it a shot over the weekend

And why do these chicks have a llama?!?! And now there's a kaiju battle between a teddy bear, rabbit, and some Dino thing.
Embrace the craziness and who wouldn't want to have an llama as a pet. I know I would want one or maybe a crocodile butler heh.

Wednesday and Saturday sounds fine and are we doing a specific time for the re-watch or just watch it within that day?
Also agree about the whole twice a week idea. Should hopefully keep discussion up and stop the thread heading into more zany areas during the lull period like what happened with Korra.
As for LOK comic none have been announced so far. Just more ATLA comics.

I think it depends on the time thing. I figured someone can start off the discussion of each new set of episodes with an introductory post of sorts. I'd be happy to do this but I think it'd be fun to rotate who does it if there's interest. Exactly when said post goes up will depend on people's availability and time zones though; I wouldn't want this thread to feel like a job where you have a strict deadline. Earlier in the day would probably be better, though.

Ah, that's a shame. I have plenty of criticisms of the ATLA comics but it's nice to continue to have new material released for that world, even if it's in a different medium. I hope that Nick doesn't just bury Korra. Although if they do we'll still have fan comics. :p

It was good, a bit cheesy, but I loved it. The Mentalist provided me with some damn fine entertainment over the years, sad to see it's gone.
True 'nuff. I still need to catch up on S6 and then I'll hit up S7 when that comes out. Is it better than S5 and S3? In my opinion those two were the best seasons. S2 and S4 were also really good. The episode in S2 where
Bosco's team got murdered
was a damn fine episode of television.
I would definitely describe Berserk as "fun," yes. Technically, it's "entertainment."
I don't know if it makes me hypocritical that Parent-child incest grosses me out as much as it does when Sibling incest hardly phases me (that might have to do with me being an only child), but even when the relationship isn't blood related, it's disgusting. Suvira shipper have issues.
I don't like shipping incest period, but I'm betting it has in part to do that sibling incest is seen as more, for lack of a better term, natural. Especially if they're closer in age. Because of growing up and developing and experimenting and all that. Parent-child is seen as sort of either: An authority figure taking advantage of someone younger and impressionable, which is generally frowned upon; Or the authority figure being pressured by the younger, which makes the elder seem spineless and the younger seem like a bit, well, awful.

That being said, it's all icky. And shipping it is ickier.
Why do I feel like the only person on here that knows about older woman x younger woman lesbian porn? Shit's nectar of the gods, sweet pervy ambrosia.
Nah dude that MILF-teen combo is where it's at.
No one can be as bad as TR, the most useless group ever, especially in the games.

i'll have you know they
temporarily
kidnapped pikachu along with multiple pokemon

There we go. This is where it's at.

James is literally one of the best trainers in the series. His pokemon want to be with him.

Still waiting for the soundtrack like all of us.
Don't hold your breath. Good podcast. I should really listen to Zuckerman talk about creating the music, dude knows his shit. This and hearing their martial arts expert discuss the martial arts used by each bending element are some of my favorite commentaries for the series.
