Where is everyone's DETERMINATION? Who cares if a bunch of douchebros talk it down. If you love the game don't be afraid what some trolls have to say. Lets make this game unavoidable, so its remembered in the generations to come as a truly innovative and important game of its time.

Eh, from what I've seen ain't any different from the persona fanbase. >_> <_<
It's okay, dude. Persona can get amazingly crazy with the Waifu Wars. But I think Undertale got so insane because it's that perfect indie aesthetic mixed JRPG that isn't overly "Japanese". So you know people can play it in public and like it without all the other stuff, lol.

Then it blew up with all the other stuff Toby put in other paths. Fanart community. The furry community. More progressive crowd. Comedy that actually makes you laugh unlike Sunset Overdrive which brings in some. Interesting game mechanic. It's a pretty wide net IMO.

Besides Persona isn't even my tpp 2 of all time, it's number 3.
Number 2 is Nier.
And like I said Deus Ex is my one true vidya game of all time.
Not like this.

So... Is he talking about the furry stuff or the rabid obsessive fanbase.

You should see the posts calling it a skeleton game and that Toby Fox is in cahoots with Anita Sarkeesian or something. Like, it's almost impossible to tell if people are joking. It's wild.

Oh, man. This Chrome extension is the gift that keeps on giving!

S.J.W to skeleton

"SJW" is going to be screamed at anything with LGBT characters. Yes, people can and do hate games for that. It's "progressive", therefore "gay agenda", therefore "SJWs".

Honestly, these days anything that's not a white male power fantasy is labelled SJW by some idiot or other. There was a surprising amount of that shown towards Indivisible for the heinous crime of having a female, southeast asian protagonist

Haha yeah, trust me, I'm in the persona fanbase too, so I know exactly how dumb it gets, but I do think both fanbases put out great stuff too. At this point I'm in both for the fanart
not that kind of fanart if you have to ask.

FWIW I actually think both games got deep entrenched fanbases for somewhat similar reasons. Except for the furry part in persona's case. Mostly.

People still care about gamefaqs polls? It's just about what community can drive more people to vote, or more crazy people to empty the browser cache and re-vote. Remember DRAVEN?

would someone spoil the game for me because i will never play it... whats soo great about it???
the writing is absolutely better than every AAA game this year. It also does new and interesting things with your traditional turn based jrpg mechanics and can be replayed multiple times enjoyable as its under 10 hours long. If you like earthbound, get this game right now.

Well one of the themes of the game sorta talks about the rabid obsession fans can have and Toby knew some of his fans would go overboard, don't think he know exactly how big Undertale would explode and seems he's alittle dissapointed by the whole thing.

I doubt Toby is disappointed that his game is getting exposure and that more and more people play it and appreciate it. He might be disappointed that the Internet is still the Internet, but there's no way he's disappointed by Undertale's overall reception.

OOT already won this popularity contest before, so fuck it. Give it to the Rising Superstar.

Undertale is great, the more exposure the better.

This. Good or bad reactions to it's victory, at least it will get more exposure.

So maybe the people complaining about the game can actually play it and form an educated opinion.

They won't. They'll just hate it more. Or they'll play it with a super dismissive attitude.

But hey, people who aren't dumb will play it too so that's cool

Just wait till next year. *Looks at avatar* Yup.
I kid, I kid.
I guess it would be the latter, but I don't think he's necessarily just talking about those who are for Undertale. He's probably also addressing those who shit on it obsessively, too.

He made a tweet about the furry porn: https://twitter.com/fwugradiation/status/646771457717108742
Glad he doesn't take it too seriously. Porn will always happen. Although I was a little creeped out cause the game featured a kid as the MC so that's always awkward.

This seems about the best way to get people to never play the game you love so dearly.

Unless it's sarcasm? Internet, no /s, hype/GotY thread, can't always tell.

I havn't played Undertale yet. Is it really considered better than Ocarina of Time? It looks an awful lot like Earthbound which is one of my favourite games, is it just an Earthbound clone?

I'll let EatChildren explain:

It was built in Game Maker and thus styled as a simple retro role playing game with pixel art graphics, Pokemon-like menus, levelling, and item management, and random encounters. It is elevated by its inventive use of the genre by subverting preconceived notions of the genre's tropes through emphasis on how you interact and deal with the wonderfully written cast of characters and 'enemies'. It is, as advertised, an RPG where you don't have to hurt anybody. The humour is cheeky and fun, the cast memorable, the means in which you can 'beat' enemies an often clever spin (both in game concept and presentation) on traditional ideas, and the soundtrack is incredible.

I have a handful of faults with it and I haven't finished it yet, but it's got a lot of personality and the ever so undefined "soul" in its vision. That is to say while it's obviously inspired by the likes of the Mother series, it's very distinct and memorable by its own merits, rather than acting as a homage to or tired retreading of an old genre.

There were probably funnier candidates, I don't know, but at least now a good, recent, smaller game gets some exposure. This otherwise pointless list now might have something of a point to it. People getting genuinely upset about this is somewhat amusing. That crowd finding ways to whine about SJW's and the usual stupid garbage is entirely unsurprising.

I've only played Undertale for about an hour or so. Seems like it possesses some charm, but so far I'm yet to see why it's been getting such praise. Sounds like you need to have been there for SNES era RPG's to fully appreciate it.
Haven't played Ocarina of Time at all. Tried Windwaker, Okami and Darksiders 2 once and thought they seemed like fine games but didn't particularly care for them.
Ended up voting for Undertale because it's the funnier option and I've at least played it.

I don't understand how people can get worked up so much about a best game ever poll that didn't even include M.U.S.H.A. It was wrong from the start.

I hear it's a lot like Earthbound in its quirkiness and having actual humor. It's not a clone, though.

As for if it's considered better, this is the Internet. Take all hype over the greatest game ever with a few grains of salt. Just go into the game with normal expectations and you'll likely be fine.

As someone who doesn't care about the polls this has been fascinating. I go to gamefaqs for one dying social board and even people over there were mad or ecstatic about Undertale rising in the ranks.

This was my favorite post a few days back

are they not allowed to say shit on gamefaqs?

A few months ago they finally gifted gamefaqs users the ability to display full curses in posts, but you actually have to go into your account and turn on an option or it automatically puts asterisks in there. Yeah.

I feel like its similarities to Earthbound end at its art style and brand of humour and weirdness.

Best game ever is definitely a stretch, but it's a game that will easily grow on you after a while

People already said stuff but I also have to mention the OST is phenomenal. If there is one thing I think everyone who plays this game agrees on it is that.

Gamers are so stupid sometimes they take trivial stuff, like polls and others opinion,s way too seriously. Undertale is in no way the best game ever to me, never played it, hopefully in the future and I expect good things. That's it. Anyone making a big fuzz about this is just stupid

What does your hear tell you? And why does what anyone else thinks affect what you enjoy and think as the best?

Eh, this is kind of funny. In no way shape or form can Undertale be Best Game of All Times, but man, some of these reactions are awesome. Game itself I found good but somewhat overrated.

I love undertale, but not certain I'd consider it the best game of all time. That said, Gamefaqs polls are really dumb: you can only really vote for the same japanese adventure/rpg game from 1996-98 until you realize how stupid an annual "game of all time" poll is. I think the reaction from hardcore gamefaqs poll fans is proof of this.

Draven and Legion Commander are the only ones in the poll i've even heard of and I'm definitely not voting for Legion Commander
