i know it's fantastic, i bought it the day it came out.
i just think it's really funny when game-crazed internet kids lose their minds over GOTY awards. can't miss an opportunity to mock rabid fanboyism!

I don't see that many reactions. I think along with Bloodborne, TW3 is basically the least controversial title from all the nominees to take it. Picture how this thread would be if any of the other had taken it. I bet you would get much more negative reactions even with MGSV or Undertale, let alone Fallout 4 or Tomb Raider.

Wrong...Bloodborne is the real GOTY.
People are so ignorant in gaming, most people still haven't discovered Demons Souls yet.
Even MGSV is better than W3 by a country mile.

Witcher 3, it's a real fancy dinner that you only have maybe on your anniversary, so maybe once or twice a year. Fallout 4, it's a kind of a nice dinner, but you can have it maybe once or twice a week.

Lost in the whole "art direction" category debate is the overall set of nominees. From that list, it was easily between Ori and the Blind Forest and Bloodborne. Ori absolutely deserved it considering what it was up against, but I would have been fine with Bloodborne winning.
Maybe it was a down year for the category, but MGSV and Batman were very weak nominees for best art direction. But still...Grow Home? Yoshi? Everyone's Gone to the Rapture? Those are just off the top of my head. There has to be games out there that were a better fit for this category.

Lol @ the salt. Bloodborne was fantastic, but W3 is still the better game, well deserved!
Downwell is awesome. More people should try it. Easily the best game I've played on a phone that wasn't a port.

Great game for sure and personally Life Is Strange is my GOTY but I'm sort of surprised and a little disappointed that MGS V didn't win this award. MGS V has quite a few issues for sure such as the story and awful second act but overall taking into account how good the gameplay is I think it deserved it.
Please tell me this is another one of those Kojima-isms.
I discovered and played a pretty good amount of Demons Souls. It's an alright game. I'd take Witcher 3 over that any day of the week. Couldn't get into Bloodborne either, at least not as of yet, so, again, Witcher 3 any day of the week.
If only the sheeple would wake up and discover these little niche games, like the Souls and Metal Gear.

I really thought the major backlash would come form fallout 4 fans and MGSV fans.
It really surprises me there so many people crying Bloodborne was robbed on categroies that were really hard to win. I even think that if the Witcher 3 wouldnt have won, Bloodborne would have been the best option, but when you lose to a great rival you dont use the word robbed, you use the phrase "Im sad my favourite game lost, but the competiton was fierce".
Same with Ori wining best arts category.
Also the indie goty, that category was something super fierce, probably the hardest one to win just becuase of the sheer quality of all games. Every game there had a great opportunity winning, they were all loved by public and critics alike. And people still used there the word robbed. SMH.
I am very, very happy about CD PR winning this and developer of the year. Aside from the optimiza-- ehem, downgrades, they have been incredibly modest and classy about their ways. They even made a guide on how to torrent their game, for fucks sake.
I am very, very glad that going to consoles helped them so well financially, and I hope they will not lose sight of where they started from, and that they won't sell out to EA/Ubisoft. If they need a publisher they should look towards Valve.

This is well deserved, if only because I see the amount of love and passion put into every aspect of this game. Good for CDPR, I knew they were something special when I opened the case and found that thank you note.

It's about the 1.01 patch that enabled the game. They had a little guide up on how to get the patch: GOG client, GOG.com, or alternatively play.thewitcher.com or some website like that, which had a torrented version of the patch and was not an official website.A diplomatic and thoughtful response to torrenting more like.Unless I missed an actual guide
