Maybe they should add more abortion subplots?

There is definitely something wrong right now, as I have given up on RAW totally. I have been with WWE/F forever with small gaps every now and then, so they have to be doing something horrible to push me away. I still watch NXT, and sometimes check up on YouTube clips of RAW (New Day), but that is a big downgrade for me. I remember in the past that if I used to not watch RAW I always felt like I was missing something, now it just feels like there is nothing to miss.

To be honest, if it was not for NXT weekly reminding me that WWE exists, I might have given up completely by now.

Why are they so afraid of pulling the Heel trigger on Cena again? I keep hearing its the merchandising, but I dont remember any other mega face in the WWE's history that they didnt turn heel at least once.

Wasnt Austin a big merch sale? He went heel (with hilarious results). Rocky went heel. Angle went heel. TripleH, Undertaker, etc. Why is CEna different?

Im not saying it would save anything, but it sure would at least be different

because cena's fanbase (basically children and their parents) would go apeshit.
they went as far as saying they would have unsubscribed from the network when lesnar dominated cena..going as far as saying that they will not give money to a program that glorifies a bully

that's why they immediately put cena on the show and made him destroy people ASAP

You forgot Cena's merch sales dropped consistently when they dared let a way better wrestler go over just because he looks like a truck driver, so they smashed him as far away as they could from Cena.

EDIT: Yesterday I was ended up rewatching this by accident. Pure truth venom starts around the 03:00 mark

On the bright side, they've been doing some good stuff with the WWE Network lately in terms of live event specials. Tonight for instance, they're doing a live event at Madison Square Garden and airing it exclusively on the Network:

Who wouldn't buy the network to watch this?

I think what we're seeing here is the progressing stages of long-term ramifications from Vince running all those southern wrestling companies down years ago. He took all the top talent from all those various companies and built a business empire at the expense of future talent having different places to grow into something special. They also spend far too much TV time on really bad Soap Opera drama stories. I wonder what would happen if they went back to a early 90s model of wrestling with interviews sprinkled between each match. Let the drama unfold in the ring.

Return to more interesting characters and gimmicks like the old days. Everyone now is boring - couldn't name off many current wrestlers.

Oh the card itself is pretty mediocre, I won't argue that. But I like the trend of putting more exclusive live events on the Network, to boost the value of the subscription and make it worthwhile in the long-run. Things like the Japan special recently or all of the NXT specials. Things that are just.......a little different from the usual shit that we're getting on their cable TV shows.

Could this just be the result of kids watching less live TV? Could be one of the big reasons why the Network was created.

WWE ended just after the WCW and ECW invasion. All the good and entertaining wrestlers retired and the attitude era was long finished.

The storylines these days are fucking boring recycled garbage. Most feuds don't even have a story, just one guy randomly jumping another guy with no context. There's pretty much no mid-card, they repeat the same fucking matches every show (how many times has Neville and Stardust had a match now?) and 3 hours is far too long for the talent they have. If people like Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Rollins weren't so fun to watch I'd have ditched it a long time ago.

Meanwhile, Rollins cuts the greatest promo of all time. "Ask the Pope!".

I don't know, I've been digging Raw lately. My opinion may be "wrong" because I haven't had cable in a few years. I watch the 90 minute version on Hulu. I enjoy it almost every week. New Day is becoming one of my favorites. Kevin Owens is great. I'm nervous how the Boss Sasha Banks is going to be handled but I'm glad she's on the main roster.

Then there's Rollins. He's had an awesome run since breaking from the shield. (I miss the shield) Back then he couldn't win a match by himself but the Authority has been been pushing him to be the Man. Now he barely needs them. I believe he's the best on the show.

A lot of people are upset about Kane being in a storyline but this has been a long brewing rivalry and I'm psyched to see it pay off. Plus I love his character switching between Corporate and Demon.

I'm a happy wrestling fan.

So much this, along with the fact that by the time all the stars/legends retired MMA was really getting mainstream exposure. Not only that but the business is so exposed it's beyond repair. There is no mystique to it anymore and the wrestlers are all generic and don't really look like tough guys. If I saw the LOD in a bar I wouldn't fuck with them at all, but if I saw the Miz or Zack Ryder at a bar I wouldn't fear a scuffle.

Hell, Jeff Jarrett in the 90's looks more intimidating than everyone on the current roster.

As a life long wrestling fan I can say that wrestling in its current state just doesn't go well with the times. Just feel like an outdated form of entertainment.

I'll tune in as soon as HHH takes over.

That won't change anything. The main product has to always cater to the lowest common denominator nowadays. It has to try and please reality show fans, men, women, and children all in one go. As a result it will always please no one.

NXT will be the only place for WWE fans to get decent quality nowadays. They are still small enough to do cool things, and not have to please a wide range of people and dilute what they do best.

That style will never translate companywide, so unless they try something brand new or try to target a different audience, RAW/SD it will also be stuck in the rut it is now. PG does not matter either. NXT works with PG. PG is actually helpful as it cuts down on a bunch of horrible gimmicky crap they used to pull.

Sounds like we need a Divas revolution. Also, I can't believe ratings were that low, I meaI, they gave us the showdown we've been waiting for...Big Show vs Mark Henry! How did the ratings not skyrocket?!?

The only way to solve this is a reboot. A hard reset. I've said it in the wrassle thread, but it's easily done: Vince takes one to the head on accident, wakes up and thinks it's 1985. Resets the show format and they lean heavy on the camp. A lot of these current dudes show they have personality better than the character they've given, whenever they appear elsewhere. So play that into stuff like Fuji Vice for the new era, have jobber matches to make each dude look strong for their PPV opponent and don't let them touch each other until then, and put Vince back on commentary for awhile for kicks.

Simple. You're talking 30 shares globally, trust me.

There's no face to ascend into the #1 spot right now.

I'd tune in again if they'd finally pull the trigger on the Al Snow/Steve Blackman Mystery Time Travel Adventure Hour.

I haven't watched a second of WWE since WWE Battleground, and it has been wonderful not having to deal with the constant disappointment the WWE puts its fans through.

Turned out what it took for me to leave wasn't for some final straw of a bad decision, but instead the complete and utter lack of anything good.

That's about when I stopped watching regularly after coming back for two or three years. I saw Summerslam and the last PPV and half-pay attention but I'be barely seen Raw in six months.

Wait there was a really good Raw or I heard about a really good Raw a month or so ago and I think I watched some of it on repeat. Then I watched some of the next one and it sucked again.

I've started watching WWE for the first time in a decade because of the New Day. I won't speak for the rest of the product, but New Day is entertaining as all get out.

There's no face to replace Cena as top face. And Cena already is a heel with how his character wins matches, so Cena would have to be comically evil to even get close to being acknowledged as one.

I remember watching Monday Night Raw weekly like 4-5 years ago. Suddenly I just got over it and haven't gotten back into it.

This is exactly why their ratings are in the shitter.

I had free tickets to this and turned it down. Surprised Kane isn't in a triple threat main event.

If Cena is away for longer than one or two months you can bet a young man from Greenwich, Connecticut, is gonna start his feud with Rollins to "save" the main event.

Could have been Kevin Owens time, but as with anyone that isn't Cena or Brock they dropped the ball/storyline way to early. I still don't understand how, after all these years, they don't have long term plans for anyone BUT Cena.
The minute by minute in-ring-product is the best ever in WWEs history, but give the guys something to feud over and work with in the long run.

I think the in ring product is actually at an all time low. The WWE style has become too choreographed me predictable. You know everyone will hit their big moves for the win and you can see the set ups from a mile away. It looks like they're not even trying.
