but ever so delicious
You can't judge the quality from a Youtube video.

Of course not. But there's seriously little change regardless. I would have expected textures and so on to at least look better. You get some extra shadows from an ultra setting.

Hopefully someone in here can do a gamersyde clip or shadowplay and upload it to mega.

i5 3570k ,sorry

I'd overclock it if you haven't already and... do nothing else.

It's a bit early yet to be jumping for upgrades going by just Watch Dogs. It seems a badly made game on PC from what I've seen so far, just like AC3 and AC4. I'd wait to see some proper testing done by the like of The Tech Report et al. if they do any to see what they find about the game, and to see if Ubi bring out a patch sharpish too.

Don't upgrade just for one game, and especially not an Ubisoft PC effort. Your system is still great, I'd give it a few more titles yet to see where PC gaming is trending towards.

I feel the same, as that I want to see benchmarks first before making a judgment, but frametimes may show a difference where framerate might not. Also the question is more of how long will 2GB still be enough instead of whether it runs the games that are out now well.

you can find the XO vs PC ultra too in the video description, while the difference in the IQ is significant the difference is not big at all, in fact you will have to see them side by side to see the difference(mainly the shadow quality).

ok thanks for the advice. I guess I should wait and see how this shakes out.

Really looking forward to the game BTW, even with all the downgrade controversy.

Here we go.
I'm running the game between 30 - 50fps on a Core i7-3820 @ 4.2Ghz, 32GB DDR3-1866Mhz RAM & GTX680 4GB GDDR5. OS: Windows 7 64-bit. All settings maxed out, 1920x1080. However, I'm only using "temporal-SMAA". My computer can't handle proper Anti-Aliasing.

The image shows the not-so-good daylighting of the game. But it's the worst case scenario. It looks pretty damn good at night. There are a few ugly textures (grass texture) but overall, it looks decent and plays decent.

yikes that doesn't make me very hopefull for my computer. The lack of good AA kills it for me

Whats the parameter to limit frame rate to 30?

Use RTSS (included with MSI Afterburner).

The most recent version introduced support for 64-bit executables.

The stutter is really bad, I'm not sure I can play with it.. it's all I notice. Running Ultra everything 1440p.. 50+ fps everywhere but that damn stutter.....

What is it with just about every new game I see these days having AA issues? Tropico 5 and Wolfenstein won't work for me. I can't afford Watch Dogs yet, but if I could, I'd hate to spend $80 (dat special edition) on a game that doesn't do aa right.

Wolfenstein is another game that fucking baffles me. I leave vsync off i get like 100fps and shit screen tears so i put vsync on and it wont go past 30. Put on triple buffering and it does nothing. Watch_Dogs is sort of the same way. It caps at 30 with vsyn on but off it will fluctuate between 30-80 on low.

can anyone tell me where the save file is located for this game ?

Look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[account string]. I pre-ordered the game on Steam so I don't know what the game's Uplay app id is just yet, but the saves will be tucked away in there somewhere.

I keep seeing people say 2gb of VRAM isn't enough and that's what I have on my 770.

So does that mean console would be the way to go? If so that's kinda shitty, I just bought the damn card

Repost from the OT, thought it might be more appropriate here.

You'll still be running the game at higher-than-console settings and a higher-than-console resolution. You decide.

Should I even buy this game with a Phenom II X4 955 and a 7870? Is there a possibility for me to play it Medium-High? Is there a demo?

i5-3570 @ 4,0GHz
GTX 770 4GB
8GB DDR3

Variable 30-60 fps at 1080p, so I locked this shit to 30. Everything on Ultra, except for textures which are on high. Very happy with the performance.

Btw. which HBAO is the best one?

Why have you only got textures on High when you have a 4GB card? You should be able to use Ultra no problem. HBAO+ on High is the best setting but most demanding.

Unfortunately, when I set ultra textures, I have a micro stuttering once in like 10 seconds when driving at high speed :( (fps drop from 30 to 28).

I'm donwloading the beta drivers now to see, if that fixes anything.

Cool. I'll put everything else on Ultra and then lock it at 30 with Riva Tuner when I get the game on Tuesday.

I'm curious how this will run on my Titan, from someone who can actually give more info than "I have a titan and it runs bad".

What drivers?

I'm using beta driver 337.50, I've not tested with other drivers, too lazy.

My rig with titan and i7 4770k 4.2ghz can achieve 60fs on ultra settings without AA or ao with v sync on 1920 x 1080p but it's not constant, the, on foot the frame rate dips to low 50s, there is an area early in the game where there is a crowd an the frame rate dipped to the 40s ad driving it can go as lw as 30 in some areas.

Textures on high and everything else on ultra improves frame rate, still get dips from 60 but it isn't as bad.

Best results for me so far is setting textures to high, level f detail to high and everything else on medium with AA and AO off.

It's not constant 69fps throughout but it's the closest I think I can get without sacrificing too much visual quality.

Why is it 30fps on pc even on ultra looks so bad but looks ok on consoles?

Getting a steady-ish 30FPS with the following:

Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM 2.40 GHz
8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 RAM at 1333MHz
NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 680M 2GB

Mostly set to Ultra and using FXAA. Shimmering is annoying but can't deal with the performance hit of anything else.

Game is boring me to hell though. And people thought AC3's opening was boring... (even though I liked it myself).

Also, the game can look great at night and the character models can be fantastic but, driving around during the day, it looks like a high-res GTA5. Super underwhelming.

Try this if you haven't already.

If I'm on an i5 2500k, 770 2gb, and 8gb ddr3 1600 @ 1080p will this run better on my PC vs. going the PS4 version? It seems like this game is even crippling beefier hardware due to bad optimization.

You'll have better visuals on PC. PS4 version is 30fps at 1600x900 iirc, your hardware will easily be able to exceed that still.

Out of curiosity, are you monitoring CPU usage as well?

Using 2500k @ 4.5
Gtx 780ti slightly Oc'd

at 1440p using full 3gb vram and about 98-99% of cpu usage. 30-40 fps whilst driving
at 1080p using 2600mb vram and 95% of cpu usage. 40-50 fps whilst driving.

im able to basically trade my gpu in for a new one when i want, but theres really nothing i could upgrade too for around the same price that would be an upgrade would there? wish those 6gb 780tis would come out.

Running ultra with everything maxed out, totally playable @1080p ~30fps

But will tune down things just a little bit for ultimate 60fps experience without screen tearings.

I'd be interested to hear more comments on the "i5 2500k is dead" issue. As a owner of a 2500k this is kind of upsetting. So, more opinions please?

Who is saying that? I'm having no problems at all on my non-overclocked, non "K" edition of my i5 2500 - in fact with vsync off, I'm getting about 45-60fps with most settings set to ultra, at 1080P.

I wouldn't overclock my chip even if it were the K variant - I'm perfectly happy with it's performance just two months shy of it running in my pc for three years now.

I have a 965BE at stock (too high ambient temperature right now to OC) and 560Ti and it's playable (~40fps) on medium. No demo, but I've heard there's a not-so-legal version available, if you catch my drift.

Posting from the OT as I figured its more likely someone in this thready would know:

Does anyone know of a key seller who is already sending out uplay PC codes? PM me if you need to.

I'd like to start playing this today if possible.

Have a quick question about limiting the frame rate in watch dogs, or any game for that matter... I noticed people usually post about how they limit frame rate with 3rd party apps (I read riva tuner mentioned for example), just wondering how come people don't just use the Nvidia control panel. I usually use that for adaptive Vsync and it works great. Im assuming there is a setting for 30 fps as well no?
