I've had two Legendaries from blues since the patch. That being said, it definitely feels like they lowered the Legendary drop rate, both from kills and from the Cryptarch gifts.

Cryptarch gift nerf makes sense, though, since we can find engrams a bit easier.

Since the patch I've gotten :

-The Invincible Hand
-The Comedian
-Steel Oracle
-Super Pox VLO
-Zombie Apocalypse
-Hard Light
-Light/Beware (from a blue engram)

Of those Light/Beware is the only one I use regularly.

I've never played Hunter, how long can GG stay up? I see there's a helm that lets you use it 4 times, do the oracles spawn fast enough?

2 hunters with golden gun can help out with the adds and/or take care of the first 3-6 oracles. ideally though, a warlock would just novabomb the adds.

Lol? Three level 30s wouldn't ask that question.

...

Last segment forces 3 people into a portal with people outside keeping it open while defending it. Without any help outside, you're basically screwed.

Thanks.
This is what I need to know!
We choose not to watch any vids, because we prefer no spoilers!

4 feels like the absolute minimum and even then, we're probably not overgeared enough yet.

I see. Thanks!

Level 27 and finally hitting the ascendent shard wall. Requiring 6 shards for each armor defense upgrade really feels like too much.

Getting the required 11 light means I'll need 36 shards to reach 28. I dunno if even my addiction to this game can push me to grind that much.

I feel your pain. All of the ass turds I had saved up before the lvl 27 wall allowed me to upgrade one circle in my exotic helm (still one to go) and that spent all my ass shards, and then it allowed me to upgrade one leg weapon, that even upgraded seems like a piece of shit so it was probably a waste. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Only 2 more weeks of playing until I get to see if my next legendary I level up is worth it.

titans are def the best class for pvp and they'll likely dominate iron banner, the extra damage they can take plus one kill shoulder charge plus that bubble defensive super lol

Those abilities are from two different subclasses, for what it's worth. But yeah, Titans are pretty badass.

Should I get Bad Juju, Invective, or Thorn? I'm more of a hand cannon guy when it comes to primaries but Bad Juju sounds like a beast.

Don't go for Thorn. I finished the bounty and the return on investment for it is pretty much crap. It was really anti-climactic to get that as my first exotic.

In other words, the gun is meh and the bounty can be difficult.

What do you mean? Doesn't matter if I'm dead or alive to get the legendary armor? If that's true why did they both get it and not me? It was a listed reward in the mission details
A legendary isn't guaranteed. You got unlucky and didn't get anything while your friends both got lucky. Coincidence.

My heroic tale of getting to 29 was basically me pushing a shopping cart on the moon collecting recyclable garbage.

It's frustrating. At least I can be somewhat useful in the vault of glass now, haven't done that yet. Beyond that I dunno if I'm willing to put in the time anymore.

For sure. I think both strategies are sound. Just so long as people remember to pass through the bubble to get the buff. Not everyone does, I tend to remind people now and then. Sometimes I come off sounding like a dad reminding people to clean their rooms. lol

My biggest problem was taking down those super explodey harpies (whatever they are called, I forget) fast enough. Managed to get a Mythoclast from Atheon yesterday so should be a little better at that now.
The way my team had it set up, everyone ended up getting the Blessing of Light buff. At around the 4 second mark during the relic buff, the Titan (me since I was the lone Titan on the team) would drop their shield. And with everyone all in the middle, everyone would get the buff. Alas, the same cant be said for Weapons of Light. For the times I dropped that particular shield, only 2 or 3 tended to go through the bubble for the buff. And that's even with me telling them that I put a bubble down in the back.

Yeah, the harpies a rea pain in the ass. I tend to use the Vision of Confluence on any near me while using a near maxed out sniper for those farther away for OHKs.

Well, I got to go take a bus so no more posts from me for another 40-50 minutes.

Something that puzzled me on a few of the strikes I played over the weekend - who do some of the players get two other rewards (greyed out) at the end?

Can we get some more data on weapons and how many shots they take to drop oracles in VoG Hard mode?

  • Hawkmoon (300 dmg) - 11 shots
  • MIDA Multi Tool (300 dmg) - 23 shots
  • Vision of Confluence (300 dmg) - 13 shots
  • Atheon's Epilogue (300 dmg) - All the shots!
  • Thorn (300 dmg) - You are forever lost in the dark corners of time

Fusion Rifles seem to do pretty well on them but the problem is running out of ammo - I'm guessing Fusion Rifles kill them in like 4 shots. I was using a fully maxed Suros and it takes 25 shots. Vision of Confluence is probably the best and actually the most OP Scout Rifle in the game with full auto and anti-oracle rounds.

Thorn is so good in PvP... sooo good. But yeah definitely underwhelming in PvE. I have both the Juju and Thorn and Thorn is much better than Juju in it's current state.

Yes, I am curious how everything plays out. Unfortunately, I don't think Bungie thought everything through. It's unfortunate, they grew so big that small details and balances are being overlooked.

If you use the shards on an exotic instead, you can get to 28 with 28 shards. Fully upgrade the exotic and get 2 upgrades on one other piece.

I poked and prodded my Halo friends into getting ready for the raid finally and pretty much everyone in the clan has put the game down now that we're done with the last piece of actual unique content. Probably for the best.

I prefer the Doctor Nope in PvP, although the Thorn does work well there. The radar staying up while aiming is pretty badass.

Sometimes I love PvP and it clicks, next match I am utter rubbish and the game turns into a shotgun/fusion-rifle camp fest. So torn on the PvP side of things. More modes please Bungie!

My favourite trick to use if I have mobs close by I can't handle is to toss my bubble up and wear the helm that blinds mobs who enter the bubble. They basically get 'drunk' and confused for quite a while, taking off the pressure. It's a last resort but it works great.

It's also a great thing to use if you know you are going to have unwelcome mobs coming out of a spawn door. Pop the bubble and they must pass through it, and walk real slow, don't fight at all, and wait for you to beat them down. It's a great crowd control tactic. Makes a nice choke point.

I have a purple fusion rifle that one shots them

though my main issue with Aetheon is getting enough damage output onto him...

I see. Thanks!

Actually guys, I'm not sure if any of that will work because the enemies do not seem to lose a percentage of their total HP depending on the amount of ppl in the group (unlike a Strike). You might hit the enrage timer on either Templar or Atheon.

the problem si the supplicants is even if your team is cleaning them up perfectly they can actually still just spawn right on top of the guys coming out of portal...and they think your team isn't doing their job but thats not the case, just unlucky

This is another useful information. Thanks!

Normally that doesn't happen, but if it does I warn the portal team right away.

25? On normal or hard? What lvl are you? At lvl 28 I could finish off 2 with one mag. I was able to clear 5, almost 6 on my own, but definitely needed support fire to clear them all. I would love to get a good scout rifle though.

As I stated before the best way to get shards:
  • Daily
  • Public Event
  • DE Exotic or Leg. armor
  • Raid chests 5 in all
  • Level an alt to complete the above all over again

If you use the shards on an exotic instead, you can get to 28 with 28 shards. Fully upgrade the exotic and get 2 upgrades on one other piece.

That's true, I was thinking about that. Have to see if I can get lucky and get an exotic this week or if I'll have to wait for Xur to come back next weekend.

Do you have an exotic armor piece? It seemed like I didn't have much trouble hitting 28. I simply put all my ascendant shards into my exotic to max it out and some shards into my gauntlets to almost max it out (just one bubble away from max).

I never paid attention to ascendant shards and the like since I mainly do Crucible.

I do have a lot of play time invested since I was doing PVP pretty actively. Planning to cut back though. Don't think I'm worried bout getting to L30 though. Since it requires raid equipment apparently. Maybe one day I'll have time for a raid I dunno

Yeah, I went with the exotic route, since you are going to want to wear an exotic helm anyway.

Okay, I finally pushed my alt Titan to 28 and did some raiding/nightfall.

For the record, my first character is a 28 hunter.

After my extensive analysis, I can safely say that Titans are the better class in PvE. The WOD is just more useful to me and the team, and I find my titan living longer in general. Still, I don't think any content requires a particular class, and in nightfalls my hunter's stealth rez is still MVP.

In PvP, nothing probably beats the bladedancer's super but I admit to not having a lot of titan PvP experience yet. I don't pvp much in general, at least not until Iron Banner.

*fist bump*

29 bros.

any luck with the raid gear?

I want to be a 29/30 bro, but not doing it until I get two more pieces of raid gear. I have all of the materials, but just waiting for the remaining pieces from the raid.

On another note, anyone else worried about the population hit this will have once COD and Halo launches? That's the one thing I hate about console games is that all players are coming from a confined pie.

I dismantled the raid Warlock boots by accident last week, not knowing you HAVE to have raid gear to hit 30 :/

Vault of Glass is easy as hell for me at this point. I have a dedicated crew I roll with. Templar and Atheon ain't shit to us

Oh shit, why did I think it ended on the 8th lol.

Also found out that 10 Queen tokens is the maximum you can hold, lol.

There's also a bounty today where you need to complete heroic of nightfall weekly, so it looks like I'll be offering my services later.

Yeah, and as you hand in the bounty you'll likely get a ship engram . I did it earlier to help someone on my friends list and his mate (both 27s, reckless and spectators for much of the game, lol). Dunno why it never occurred to me to play it through on my alt character, coul dhave gotten something nice at the end of the strike.

I just got a ship blueprint after handing in a bounty. Has that always been a thing?

If they are for hard story missions (have only tried 28s personally) or strikes, yes.

Since it requires raid equipment apparently. Maybe one day I'll have time for a raid I dunno

A raid is about 60 to 90 minutes with most pick up groups. I don't understand why people say they don't have time to raid - it is really pretty short. If you go with a first time group, it will take hours for sure, but many folks are experienced and know what to do.

Yeah there might be a tiny hit. I know I will be playing Drive Club a bit when it releases. Since I love racing games. Still will drop in for some Crucible, Nightfall, Weekly, and maybe a raid at least once. Probably won't see any noticeable difference until late November once all the games are out. Like you're eluding too

I have had HORRIBLE luck getting raid gear. I have nearly completed the raid on both alts, completed the main raid completely 2 times on my main. All I have gotten were exotic weapons ;_;

I said the the game 'Fuck you I'll do it myself' and leveled myself to 29 with my abundance of shards...I am back up to 23 shards and I have yet to do the dailies today.

I'm recruiting people for the flawless raider trophy. Who's in?

I will go but we need to do a practice run before we do this.

"All I have gotten were exotic weapons". Come on bro. 4 raid clears, 0 armor items, 0 exotics, multiple chatterwhites and legendary ships though. UGH. Shards, energy, shards, energy.

I agree, Interceptors are a POS. Weak and slow. My guns did more damage than them. They're useless.

Your guns do over 200 dmg / hit in PvP?

Something that puzzled me on a few of the strikes I played over the weekend - who do some of the players get two other rewards (greyed out) at the end?

Because they get 4 reward items, but UI supports properly only showing 2 of them. I have few times got 4 items from PvP match with 2 showing and 2 as grey boxes.

I don't think my friends are ever going to make it to 28 before they burn out from the grind. They don't have that JRPG lineage like I do. I think I will have to jump in on some GAF Raid team ups. It would be nice if a compromise for Raid match making that they would only match two complete fire teams together. So like my group of three allows us to go in a Raid queue to be paired with another group of three. That seems like it would accomplish Bungies desire to have competent teams together.

Edit: Is the raid even worth trying on lvl 27?

I'm recruiting people for the flawless raider trophy. Who's in?

Bro, sunsinger has other functions too than just self resurrection. Denying whole sub-class because one of its talents is just silly.

Also what is up with all this Gjallahorn hype? It never seemed to do any mind blowing damage to any of the bosses and was easily outclassed by sniper rifle alone.

Edit: Is the raid even worth trying on lvl 27?

If they are good players with some good weapons it's doable, that way they can compensate somewhat for "low level". 28 is sweetspot for normal VoG tho.
