Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Has anyone had luck with the mines? They seem kind of useless to me, they stay out for no time at all and it seems like they don't kill unless you're directly on top of them.

Nintendo has literally never done anything like this before haha. We haven't seen any evidence that the modes are done either. They had to get it out the door so they had a summer game.

I don't see how this game is different to Animal Crossing, where a big part of the team comes from. There are maps in the single player mode that are known to be released as MP maps, yet they aren't there on day 1.

I use them on straight pathways and corridors, place them down when u see an enemy then pretend to fall back nd they will push toward u nd step on it, I'm averaging like 3 kills a game with them now

So I just noticed this whole huge whiny article about bro who has no skills.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertc...e-unless-you-change-one-setting-at-the-start/

You can get used to this over time, if you really want to, but it really screws up the camera, and never feels as comfortable as using the two traditional joysticks does. Past this, keeping motion controls on for the high-intensity online multiplayer modes is nothing short of a death sentence because it highly restricts your ability to make quick turns, a necessity when enemy squids are blasting you with paint from all sides.

Pfftwahaha nope, I use gyroscope and it takes only 5-10 second to get used to it and I have won some on-line matches with them.

The guy sounds like he didn't even give it a chance, because he's a "hardcore" dudebro.

Can this game be played with the pro controller?

Only for 1 Vs 1 local match

I had a butter smooth experience the past two days but have had about 4 disconnects so far out of maybe 10 games. One of them was when were playing well, leading and there were only 2 seconds left. Sucks, those points don't go towards your gear either.

I wonder why I've had so many disconnects today.

I hope it'll go back to how it was the last two days and I don't get any issues.

It's also telling that I'm willing to keep playing and risk getting disconnected because this game's just that good.

It would be great if they updated to allow you to switch weapons between matches, it would allow you to tailor some classes toward certain maps.

I love it when I'm almost getting killed and someone on my team has my back and doesn't let me get killed. Thanks daydream and Sendou <3

It would be like if Animal Crossing kept everyone from doing anything except shaking trees for bells until a few weeks after release.

"Now unlocked: Fishing!"
"Next week, travel to other towns!"

Was watching this being streamed like all day yesterday.. Looks like loads of fun tbqh

Also how the hell did OT | Squids Next Door not get chosen? It was perfect

And if you are right, that's beyond stupid on their part.

It's a shame they don't work with more games. Squid MK8 helmets/free Smash DLC would be great.

I kind of have a feeling they will eventually. I would not be surprised to see Inkling as a playable SSB character, and if not that, maybe Mii Fighter gear based on them. Also MK8 outfits would totally make sense, and not require much effort.

Thanks, i wish i got in some gaf games. NId: zarigueya.
Think i may get my ass kicked like on the mario kart gaf room.

I'd like to see a poll in the OT so we can see how many people are using motion and how many people are using dual analogue, kind of curious to see which one is the most popular

Let's have a tournament where we match people who use motion to those who don't.

Is your Wii U surround vs stereo correctly set up? Sounds like your outputting surround to a stereo system or something?

Lol thanks. I moved my Wii from the living room to bedroom and didnt reset the sound options. Mario Kart didnt sound any different which is why I never changed it but that did the trick, sounds much better now.

Any chance of a Wii-U Splatoon bundle? It makes so much sense.

It's out there since day one.

Aaaand, beat the final boss.
THAT WAS AMAZING.

One of the best most frenetic bosses ive seen. Seems Nintendo has learned to create bosses
that feel like a long stage while using everything on your hande and learned in the game, they are doing similar things with the bowser fight in the mario games. But this felt even more like a real boss, because you were fighting him, and not escaping.

Also amazing ending, deepest lore
So the game happens 10000 years from now and Judd was on a cryochamber from some scientist
. Loved the credits, so much style.

Got all the secret messages, what do you get when you got everything? Dont know what I unlocked with it.

Just started playing and it feels like a beta, especially the sound. It seems like half the things you do don't have sound effects, textures look like dogshit as well. The gameplay is fun though,I just hope it gets polished as the rest of the game rolls out.
Wow how differently people can view things. I'm in love with how polished this game is. Not a framerate drop in 3 days, matchmaking is like.. instant. Almost too fast. Fantastic sound effects and music. Graphics are sick (those sponges and that ink). No load times to speak of. The flawless miiverse integration. The typically Nintendo-awesome singleplayer.

I don't know, other than the 5 mp maps I don't understand any of the "this game was rushed" complaints.

.

To you, maybe, but that's absolutely the right call. This is not a console with 414626 shooters, and the nintendo audience is not used to them from their point of view, so not releasing everything from the get go and teaching the basics is the right move.

Everyone has their chance. And everything points out that they have in mind people who are absolutely new or dislike this kind of game. The fact that there is a mandatory tutorial, that the SP is clearly designed to teach you how to play (with advanced mastery over the controls and the mechanics required at some points), that the starting weapon is one of the most effective and easy to use so newbies can fight lvl 15 and still hold their ground, waiting for enough people to reach a certain level to unlock Ranked mode, only two maps at a time, etc.
Everything is made to prepare players to play decently and teach the 101 shooters rules. Shipping what people here would call "a regular full game" is the best way to lose the audience nitnendo is going for.

You can choose to believe that they haven't manages to create more than 5 maps and two modes in over two years, but that's ridiculous, let's be honest. Maps are ready, some are even in the sp mode.
Of course some stuff is probably not finished, but the way they plan to handle update is intentional imo.
