E3 2015 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3

They gotta dub it :P

We don't really know how far along the dubbing is. We

It's not like dubs are neccessarily done in consecutive order.
You likely have to get the person in the studio, record all the lines, and keep doing that.

So if they had their latest build (or whatever), it might be a mixture of english and japanese speaking because certain Voice Actors haven't recorded yet.

Keeping it all Japanese would sound better for now.

Gotta pop into this thread tomorrow. A lot of other places round these parts are kinda insufferable right now and killed my E3 enthusiasm.

Definitely catching the treehouse tomorrow.

Interesting that Day One has nearly 1 million views on YouTube by now, after the 20k or so views live. Hopefully the other days will continue doing similar numbers.

Yesterday's Chibi Robo showing with the developers made me far more interested in the title. The game wasn't even on my radar before. Just goes to show how good these sessions are.

Starts with Bravely Second and has Zelda and Federation Force later
Sounds good to me

As much as watching the Nintendo Direct felt like a giant cyclops repeatedly taking a monkey wrench to my groin, Treehouse Live has kept me glued for about 14 of the 16 hours they've run it so far over the past couple of days. Even when it's a game I don't care about, I love the in-depth looks and the developer insights. It's just fantastically entertaining stuff.

treehouse is good but the people animating it feel genuine and passionate, I can't say that for most game journalists, unfortunately.

When does it start?
There's a countdown in the OP at the top.

Hopefully this has been beaten to death... But.... Guys, the Gamespot thing is nothing. Look at the list, other companies have unannounced things. Just means list hasn't been updated since E3 started. Just means they are unsure what game Nintendo is showing off. It's very likely going to be a game we've seen. Like Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Mario Maker, etc.

Hey guys, did I hear correctly that Mario Tennis is going to have an RPG mode? Is that right? if so, are there details or footage somewhere?
Where did you hear this? They didn't mention it in the direct or on the treehouse stream yesterday.

So far the only "special features" being touted are jump shots and mega mushrooms >_>

Based on Treehouse footage I have pieced together answers to our burning Super Mario Maker questions:

SMB

SMW

NSMBU

This is the full toolset from the game across the 3 styles they've edited on Treehouse (no SMB3 love?)

Yoshi egg is an option in SMW and NSMBU. Yoshi is replaced by kuribo's shoe in SMB style and based on the NWC footage SMB3 as well.

SMB has the mystery mushroom and that's the only style that you can use those in because it becomes replaced by the feather in SMW and the propeller mushroom in NSMBU (and the leaf in SMB3).

So no 8-bit Yoshi and no 16-bit or 3D kuribo's shoe. Each style has a unique powerup.

Hmm, I guess I heard wrong then. i thought I saw it on here, but it must have just been someone wishing for it.

Dang.

RPG mode in the new Mario Tennis is a pipedream

if it had it, it'd have been the first thing to come out of their mouths
You would think - but both Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival have elements that weren't immediately touted.

HHD was originally presented as JUST a decorating sim for the specific houses of the villagers whose amiibo cards you scan in (thus the sarcastic "Animal Crossing: House Arrest" moniker from some in the AC community). Turns out though that there's a seemingly robust town building aspect as well, including the ability to open new shops, decorate the outdoors with items that were typically relegated to being indoors, and perhaps even new types of landscapes in the town (a screenshot with the town map on it seemed to indicate hills or deserts)

Amiibo Festival was confirmed to have modes OTHER than just the lame board game they've been showing off, but they haven't said what those modes are yet.

So maybe Mario Tennis will have a few surprises too? Everything about it so far does seem like an incredibly lazy cash grab though. Mega mushrooms, jump shots, and an HD sheen is not nearly enough to justify interest in the game for me. The camera looks completely unstable and jumpy during matches, too.

Unless I'm missing it bowser jr doesn't seem to be included in those screens. I wonder if you have to manipulate the bowser sprite to turn him to bowser jr or maybe there's still more options they weren't showing.

You are an awesome member for figuring that out, but damn if I wasn't looking forward to NES-style Yoshi. Oh well, gotta save something for SMM2

Perhaps shaking Bowser gives you Bowser Jr.?
I mean that is how you get Lakitu's cloud.

nice points with those AC games. well, I hope so because I see no reason I should hype myself for potential surprises. always keep expectations low! if I didn't hear anything about an RPG mode from the start, I'll assume it doesn't exist

That would be my guess. You access things that are not in that set by shaking things that are. Shaking kuribo's shoe turns it into kuribo's stiletto, shaking green koopa troopa turns it into red koopa troopa. The most varied thing they showed off was the kind of platform that has background underneath it:

These 3 objects are the same object. There are probably a lot more tiles you can change them to.

That's certainly the safe bet. This one will definitely just be a rental for me, if no substantial modes (like an RPG mode) are revealed. It's a shame too, because the GBC Mario Tennis game is one of the best titles on that system - there's a bunch of potential with Mario Tennis, but Nintendo rarely fleshes it out enough to make an "ultimate" Mario Tennis game for the modern generation.

The thing about the Kuribo's Shoe and Yoshi being equivalent across the styles makes me wonder if enemies can be made to ride Yoshis

It does seem like it. A strange decision.

What game would they have it for? :p

I made myself sad.
