From another review:

Ben Grimm's abusive brother used to say "It's clobbering time." before hitting Ben.

Also,

Victor (Before his transformation): I think the whole world should come to an end.
Susan (sarcastically says): Listen to Dr. Doom here.

I can see that first one working in some degree. That can be done right.

No no NO. Especially the top one. What the actual fuck. You turn the popular catchphrase of a character into an abusive taunt. The. Actual. Fuck.

I can see that first one working in some degree. That can be done right.

I mean you'd have to be a pretty damn good writer man!

I remember when people were saying audiences wouldn't react well to the Thing not having shorts. But this sounds way more fucked up than that.

I kinda like it, though, funny enough. It seems like something Trank would do considering DeHaan's character's dad in Chronicle.

Fantastic |OT| 4% on Rotten Tomatoes

Winner.

They can, of course. I was more thinking about people who are joking about this all looks bad at this point, I feel like a lot lf them still will go to the cinema.

I gotcha. Curiosity and all that.

I was planning on going on Saturday. I think I'll still go, but some of these reviews. The "it ends right as it gets good/all setup" is my biggest pet peeve.

I straight up refuse to believe any of this post

Not one bit of it

Oh, okay if some reviews are trickling out, I'll just be a tad less vague and say the cut action scene is The Thing paradropping.

I think I'm heading out of the thread now, the movie honestly left such a sour taste in my mouth and I've sort of made peace with it, I don't feel the need to slam it any harder than I already have.

The only thing I could say is please, please, pleaaassee do not go and support this with your money. This is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 all over again, a shitty, hacked up teaser for a film that will never come with horrific dialogue and one of the worst butcherings of a villain seen since the time Galactus was a cloud.

They want your money and they want the rights in their court, if you see the film at full price in a theater, you're greenlighting a sequel for them. If your curiosity/excitement is truly that massive, please wait to rent it for a few dollars but please, don't tell the studio heads that we want more of this.
We deserve a better Fantastic Four.

Had a feeling it was that scene in particular heh, and that was like probably the best thing from the trailers really.

So whats the source to the its clobbering time thing.

No way in fucking hell this can be real. My god, they deserve to fail with this movie alone because of this.

lol at clobberin' time's gritty origin

Sue's Dr.Doom line is ASM and Daredevil movie level
I'm dying of laughter from this post. I don't know why.
Slight Doom spoilers from http://www.screendaily.com/reviews/...e?blocktitle=LATEST-FILM-NEWS&contentID=40562
"the fearsome, iconic Fantastic Four nemesis Dr. Doom, the character goes from being a mild misanthrope to becoming a moralistic avenging angel who believes that humans should be exterminated for how they’ve treated the planet."

God help us all.

Oh God yes! I'm so pumped to see how this movie is gonna turn up now.

Where's the link to that review with the Clobberin Time origin and Doom's naming? This is the first I've heard of this and it's almost too good to be true from a "let's get the fans frothed the fuck up" front.

I remember that exaggerated shit in the other threads along the lines of 'Well if they had Captain America rights they'd have him with a leather jacket with a Star on the back and Hydra would be a pharmaceutical company'

I'm starting to think that really isn't a exaggeration anymore.

There's one thing I never got from the trailers and maybe, now that reviews and stuff are coming out, someone can explain. What exactly is the plot of the movie? Like, I know the general Fantastic 4 story. 4 people get super powers, Doom is the bad guy generally. But what is the danger in this particular movie. The trailers talk about "He's better than us" or whatever, like they're losing to the bad guy, but I didn't think Doom really had powers. So what is the bad guy? How is Doom any danger to them? I get that the story will basically come down to "Doom wants to kill everyone and the F4 stop him" but I'm just wondering how that conflict plays out because I don't see how Doom could possible stand up to them.

It doesn't seem like it goes much beyond what you've already gotten from the trailers if the reviews are any indication. I believe one of the reviews, maybe the first one by the Hollywood Reporter even said that Doom's powers are vaguely defined or something?

.. I can't stay away from this thread, I'm staying lol.

The plot is really a case of "We fucked up and got powers! I wanna cure it!" and then it jumps to "Wow, that Doom guy with the vaguely defined powers sure is evil! He wants to kill everyone for... some reason... we gotta stop him! We're family!"

And yes, Doom has powers but like I said, the movie does such an awful job of telling you exactly how much power he has, you never really get the sense that's he's as big of a threat as he should be. It begs the question why The Thing never ripped the fucking dude down the middle, it'd have been too easy.

All I truly recall from his power list was a glorified "force push", I don't remember much else from him simply because of how fucking awful and forgettable he is.

All I need now are PTSD-esque flashes for Ben Grimm and his brother as he beats on people saying "It's clobberin' time!" as the flashes zoom closer and closer to his face with each pounding.

I see. Thanks for saving me the money on this one.
