I made a video about this very topic recently. I think that enhanced ports and Killzone aren't going to convince a lot of people to drop ~$500 for a new console and a game.
Pretty much, even if the only games I get at launch are cross-gen titles. I'm in on Day 01.Tired of current gen. I'm in day one.
IMO the value proposition is highest on launch day if you plan on buying a console before the first price drop (typically 2 years unless shit goes wrong).
You can spend $399 in November '13 and use it sparingly... but still use it. Or you can spend $399 in Septermber '14 and still have paid the same price but not owned it for almost a year. If you have the money I don't get the logic in waiting.
I agree that the price drop is not likely happening until 2 years down the line. Waiting a year and buying one will mean you can pick up the launch games for much cheaper, no?IMO the value proposition is highest on launch day if you plan on buying a console before the first price drop (typically 2 years unless shit goes wrong).

Given that DriveClub, Outlast, Secret Ponchos and Don't Starve are already on the roster, pretty sure you're wrong about that. That's more than the value of the subscription right there straight away, and that's just to start things off. Who knows what the other months will bring, but there are literally hundreds of indie games being made for the PS4 right now, so there'll be plenty to add to the PS+ catalogue. I'd imagine many devs will actively want to get there games on as part of the PS+ roster so they're at least guaranteed some time ofunding from the downloads instead of getting lost in the sea of releases.
I don't know why people are so quick to underestimate PS+ when all evidence points to the contrary. Sony won't want to lose the good will it's garnered with PS+ among it's consumer base. It's one of the best deals in gaming right now, and a massive draw to the Sony platform. Sony would be stupid to let all that good will and consumer value proposition incentive slip away.
In my world, a decent gaming rig with medium-high specs would be at least 1100-1500 dollars.
Correct, but no one is saying you need to buy all of the games now. Personally I'm thrilled with the PS4 launch, but if there are only a handful of titles that you really must play *now* like say Killzone and some of the indies... get it now and play those now. The next tier of games you want but not at full price... wait on. Not to mention that there will be free games with PS+.
