Episode highlight for me:

Oh god, I just came in here looking for this. :lol

So, Kathy Bates isn't
a witch
, huh? Interesting... Lange is awesome thus far as expected. I think Asylum started a little quicker though, but I like where this season is going so far.

That's one bigass door Emma Roberts is opening..... I dunno she looks hot but that shot just somehow seems off for some reason.

edit: nvm Emma Roberts is only 5ft 2"

Alright AHS time.

So gators and rednecks, and Sister Mary Eunice. This is gonna get weird.

Well, that's pretty much the worst way to die.

Gotdamn, Emma Roberts. I'd take a beating for a crack at that.

Its like Misery but backwards! Jessica Lange plays crazy obsessed so well.

Holy shit, Precious is hardcore. "Bitch, I will eat you!"

Cops, yo. That was fast. Shiiiiiiiiet. Black Widow's fucking out in the open!

Holy shit, lol. Zoe, you suck.

Jessica Lange is scary.

Oh god, these motherfuckers. They're actually gonna make us sit through another teen romance, aren't they. Oh God.

Is this season gonna be like Django buy with magic and witches?

Shit, Angela Bassett murdered Bates' whole family. She takes her vengeance seriously. Fiona gives no fucks.

Frankenstein!

It's aliiiiiiiive! And they done fucked up, didn't they. Dude's a psycho.

Oh damn, Angela Bassett looking fine in the modern day.

Lol, Kathy Bates escaping. Thanks Nan!

Fiona is an elitist bitch, huh.

This is one of the weirder sex scenes I've come across on TV. Um. So much for no black magic, Lana banana.

Oh shit, necromancer! How'd she come back?

I have never heard of Stevie Nicks before today.

WHAT THE FUCK, ANGELA BASSETT.

Kathy's monologue is pretty chilling. Well done. Anyone else thinks this season will end with Jessica Lange in the box?

LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

So... that was an interesting episode. The older actors are definitely more interesting than Taissa. I dunno, why but I'm quite fond of Misty Day. Please don't make her turn evil, Murphy.

So, just started watching Coven recently and it seems OK so far. The pretty faces are helping (a lot). I watched the first season of AHS because it seemed like something straight up my alley. Really enjoy watching all sorts of horror stuff and from a production point of view, looked great. I ended up thinking it was just being a little bit too weird for the sake of being weird. It just felt silly.

Anyway, I still love the fact that every season is a completely different story with different characters. I was just wondering if each season is directed by a different director? Or has it all been the same guy/couple of guys.

Big fan of V/H/S so the idea of having a TV series being directed by a different person each season is pretty cool.

You know I'm really hoping they can fit the song Witchy Woman by the Eagles somehow into this season. It's an obvious choice but it would be awesome.

Maybe even have a Seinfeld reference :p

I think she did it to him to 'punish' him for having sex with the white girl.

I don't think he actually had sex with Bates' daughter. In the first episode, he says Bates' daughter came on to him, but he told her he belonged to another. Maybe the Voodoo Queen didn't believe him.

One thing I'm curious about is Queenie. She says she's an ancestor of Tibitua. Tibitua was a slave in the book/playwright/movie Crucible which was about the Salem Witch Trials and she was accused of being a witch and using Voodoo to make the girls in Salem do strange things. Then in the next episode Voodoo Lady referenced her mentioning how she was very powerful and people made her into a slave in Salem and she gave the Witches their powers. Given Queenie's power makes her into a human voodoo doll, I wonder if there is a connection. It seems to point to Tibitua being a Witch that and a Voodoo Shaman. Given the split between witches and voodoo and blacks versus whites, I wonder if there's something more to her.

I love that song, it'd fit Misty Day's persona.

Loved episode 2, love the season so far. And I love everyone at this point, even Zoe (to a much smaller extent). Of course Lange/Bassett/Bates dance circles around the others, but the episode flew by no matter who was on screen. Felt like it was only half an hour.

- Surely one of them had to have seen a Frankenstein movie at least. How do you not expect something like that happening, girls?!

- I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a Gabourey-centric episode after it teased us with that flashback. Still, A+ Queenie scenes.

I agree that it feels much tamer so far than previous AHS seasons, but the raw entertainment value is as high as ever.

Yeh Misty is probably the character I'm most interested in. She's got that hint of psycho about her which makes her unpredictable

Nah he did. He didn't want to but given his position he couldn't say no.
We know because Kathy Bates slapped her daughter for it and said they'd play it off as rape and mentioned the fact they'd have black bastard children

After last week’s record-setting premiere, you might expect FX’s American Horror Story: Coven ratings to slip for the second episode. And you’d be right: Coven delivered 4.5 million viewers and a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49 Wednesday evening, down 17 percent from the premiere.

Still good ratings and up 1.5m from the second episode of Asylum

Okay, this should be the format for reviews/impressions going forward.

Liked this episode much more than the first, glad they toned down the direction. Jessica Lange as usual was pretty fucking fantastic.

TV shows are generally always "anthologies" in that way. I don't know of any shows that has one director per season.

But I'm guessing that your question is really "does AHS stay silly and over the top?" and the answer to that is a big fat yes. It's why I love it.

Even after two episodes, this is my favourite season yet - probably down the focus on the INCREDIBLE female cast. My homosexual-fangirl sense are tingling throughout.

Plus Lily Rabe styled EXACTLY like Stevie Nicks.

Lily Rabe looks real weird.

But there is just something about her.

Weird.

Every episode of Wilfred has been directed by the same guy, except for 3 episodes. And all 10 episodes of the new Cinemax series "The Knick" are going to be directed by Steven Soderbergh.

I... don't... know. It's something. Something. Don't get me wrong, she's pretty. Something quietly enticing about her. But something is off about her.

Can't... put my finger on it.

I don't think it's her looks you've found weird - she's played... interesting.. characters in her time on the show.

The smoky eyed hippy look really does do it for me

Lily Rabe wasn't really something for me because my first experience with her was in Nip Tuck when she ate some of her boyfriends flesh to stay alive while stranded in a mountain. I couldn't really find that attractive.

Nora wasn't really that sexualised either so I never really saw much in her.

But Mary Eunice......oh lord.....Sister Mary Eunice

Taissa Farmiga's character is already the worst character on the show. What a fucking moron.

This Bates/Lange stuff is going to be fantastic. (I'm still so freaking psyched that they got Kathy Bates to be on this glorious trainwreck of a show.)

More Queenie and Nan, please.

I'm assuming this Cordelia pregnancy stuff is going to get super fucked-up. Murphy seems to have a disturbing obsession with pregnancy.

Agreed. I just tune out when she shows up.

And the pregnancy will almost certainly end in tears.

Her husband will carry the baby to term in a stunning display of lamp shading.
It will be a perfectly normal baby boy.

Yeah, I think you're right. I missed Kathy Bates' line the first time. At the time I thought: "how tragic, he's going to be tortured for something he didn't even do." But it's much more horrible and gruesome to think he was tortured for something he had to do, but didn't want to. The more horrible thought is obviously the right one, when it comes to this show!

Murphy seems to have a disturbing obsession with pregnancy.

I think he recently had his first child, so pregnancy related fears (like a devil baby) are probably fresh in his mind.

Jessican Lange shits on everyone else's acting from a great height.

I typically love Kathy but I'm not feeling it from her after episode two.

I bet they're playing the whole demon baby shtick again

Also, I really want to find out who the other supreme witches are already

They won't.

Yeah, I really like Kathy Bate's role but I think she's been criminally under-utilised thus far in Coven. I've been reading some interviews from both Kathy and Ryan about Lalaurie's character, and both insist her character is ten times worse than her Misery character and that things will get worse for her (in terms of her carrying out horrible things on others).
