I used to love you Ratsky...now, I don't know.

EDIT: Really? That last GAF thread seemed like everyone hated s2.

Everyone hated season 1 and everyone liked season 2.

Everyone hated season two for whatever reason (it's batshit crazy instead of slowly creeping up to the crazy/horror) but I loved both. If I absolutely had to pick one though, s1 might edge it out a bit.

Knowing Crumpet, I think he might appreciate Asylum more.

Read the synopses in the OP and see which one appeals to you better. Asylum is absolutely ridiculous and over the top - Murder House is more of a typical ghost story with some romance and family drama thrown in for good measure. Asylum has nazis, demons, failed war experiments, psychotic Santa Claus, aliens and the like.

I guess I have been pushing people to watch it because I really, really love it as you can probably tell by both my Coven and Asylum OT.

So, it was you!

It seems like it's a nature of the show. It's a celebration of the Diva, especially this season. I mean, jesus christ, the head witch is called a Supreme.

True, but is PopGAF just automatically aware of everything Diva? Like, do they have radar that tells them to watch everything that's campy and female oriented? Or is there something larger at play? Is this all the work of Nemesis?

Is PopGAF aware of the Divas of Drop Dead Diva?!

Seems as though the viral marketing effort for Coven was a concerted effort by Straight-PopGAF, funny enough.

From the lighting, to the goblin-esque soundtrack, to the witch subject matter. This is gonna be a suspiria homage fest.

and I'm fine with that.

You need to get your ass in the PopGAF thread STAT! Start spamming New York gifs and tell people to watch your show!

I knew it had to be you! :O

What's the agenda tho?

I just realized how rape-y this episode was. Jessica Lange using magic to force that guy into kissing her and then draining him of his life force, the frat gang rape of Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga riding that guy then killing him. I guess that was the theme of the night or something.

...I think I have to watch this episode like 2 more times.
And not just because the opening titles are incredible this year.

jesus christ, that isn't a proper answer.

A campy legal show about a skinny model who died, went to heaven, pressed the return button on the angel's computer, and came back as a fat lawyer. Now she solves crimes. It stars almost all Broadway actors and Margaret Cho. Riveting shit. And suuuuuuuper gay.

I loved the first season and the second although the constant squalor of the second season did get a bit much at times.

Does this season bring back some of the glamour and sexiness?

Oh yeah, definitely. That remake never got off the ground but this will be a fine substitute.
I should gif ha

Some of this exposition is a bit rough, but I get it, it's almost like its own pilot. Still, I can fill in some of this on my own.

Also, the four girls rule. Really strong cast.

Dunno, just trying to get more people in on one of his favorite shows, I guess. If Six Feet Under was still airing you bet I'd be campaigning like hell to get everyone I know to watch it :'(

I'll try watching a few episodes of Asylum this weekend. This episode of Coven was one of the more entertaining "first experience" episodes of TV I've had in a while.

If SFU was still airing I'd have to take Mondays off of work each week because I'd be such a mess afterward.

Six Feet Under was so amazing. I wish Lauren Ambrose would join the cast of Coven, to go along with Frances Conroy and Kathy Bates.

I would die, I love her. She was on that last season of Torchwood which felt like Murphy's take on a sci-fi show but was ultimately frustrating as hell. Her career has been kind of sad since SFU ended.

I'm actually shocked he hasn't done that yet.

Also, no, Emma Roberts, no one would tweet about a frat party. Just say you got the text.

Well Jessica Lange insisted Frances Conroy return after their scenes together in Asylum. The same for Kathy - they're good friends and Jessica insisted on it too. Kathy has even been written into Season 4 already, if she wishes to stay on.

So never say never - perhaps Frances will put in some requests when the time is right.

I really enjoyed this episode, but something that sort of bothers me from personal experience:

I get that being in a fraternity comes with a baggage of stereotypes, true for some, untrue for others. But how come whenever we need a rapist on television, some frat kid is our best option? It feels lazy. And yes, I realize that Evan Peters's character is supposed to be a good guy, but still. It really rubbed me the wrong way.
