All this talk of a lower budget makes me wonder how much the suit cost. Reynolds kept the Deadpool suit where as Ben decided not to keep the Batman suit because of how much it cost. Apparently he felt 100k was too much for something he would probably only wear a few times a year. I doubt the Deadpool suit cost as much, but I also believe Reynolds was much more determined to keep his superhero suit compared to Affleck.

Haven't seen it so no idea if its good or not, but it's nice to see Ryan Reynolds have a big hit

you know what? I agree.

dude has had a bad spell of superhero roles but he clearly likes them. nice to see one finally hit. it's perfect casting for him.

This is very good news and just about all the theaters in my area were sold out today so lets hope ita big numbers today. This is a great movie and I'm happy to see it doing great since I've always like Ryan Reynolds.

They need to fast-track Deadpool 2 (DP and Cable team-up flick) and X-Force (starring Deadpool). Although I'm sure they're already doing something like this after this weekends results :)

As Bobby Roberts said in the box office thread, Deadpool & Cable ---> X-Force could very well likely be what Fox does next after Apocalypse is released. Well, aside from Old Man Logan that is.

God this is depressing. The world needs more of Karl Urban Dredd.

Deadpool top selling PS4 game on Amazon atm. :p

Funny thing is, I had a friend that was crapping on ATVI for "cash grabbing" this uprez for full price. I told him, if the movie is good, it's a low risk, high yield proposition for them. Essentially, why wouldn't you do it?

He scoffed.

Time to screen grab and send a little text.

😉

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Cable is a nightmare to do on screen because explaining who he is requires a PHD in marvel literature.

The only way to do it would be with a completely different character from scratch that is cable in name only...and really, who wants that
Nah. Old buff guy. White hair. Robot parts. Time Travel. Now you know who Cable is.

That's great. I really had doubts about a Deadpool movie but I said the same about Guardians.
There is no stopping superhero movies.

Man getting a good Deadpool movie was up there with getting a GOTG movie in terms of plausibility. Sucks I gotta wait a few days to see it but so glad it's turning out well.

In my opinion, I'm not sure. Maybe, but I'll need to rewatch the film a few more times to be sure. For reference, my top 3 are...
  1. Spider-Man 2
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy
  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The only reason I had Guardians above Winter Soldier was because it held up better with repeat viewings. But yeah, I plan on seeing Deadpool again to be sure how it stacks compared to my Top 3.

1. Deadpool
2. Iron-Man
3. Guardians of the Galaxy

That's mine anyway. Deadpool is fucking spectacular. The common thread here is humour. I like my superhero movies with more of a comedic flavouring.

I like the dude, my only problem with him is that he's over 60. Not sure if he can carry for the role for maybe the next 10 years. I like the idea of Karl Urban because I think he looks close enough to the part and is both old and young enough(as strange as that may sound) to play the character for a long time if needed.

Damn. I want Stephen Lang as Cable, but FOX might not go for it, especially since Deadpool is now a big franchise for them that they're gonna want to keep a close eye on.

How about for shits n goggles we get everyone we like for Cable to be Cable

Have it as a running Gag, like why are you old, time travel, why are you young and super buff... Time travel, just mess with Deadpool and the audience until the climax then have all cables duke it out, Deadpool looks to the camera goes, now you see why time travel sucks.. Inception horn goes off and see Deadpool pick up a script how to fix this and sees all you need is love (jab @ interstellar) then get one of the Xavier's to fix it

Nobody in my party of 5 saw any penises lol guess it was hidden well
You can see it dangling for like two seconds during that one fight scene. I watched on an IMAX screen and I could barely make it out, lol. The person who wrote the article about how hot that scene was must have been thirsty as heck. The parts where you briefly see Ryan's ripped body are way more appealing.

Into this.

So Rth is putting the early Saturday at $41-43M. That would be a big increase over Friday proper (minus Thursday previews), and would probably mean that we are looking at $115M+ over the 3-Day.

EDIT: Actually, looking at the last time Valentines day was a Sunday (2010), it looks like most films will hold even or increase tomorrow. Maybe $125M+ is closer to the mark.

What a time to be alive for the Rated R action movie. John Wick, Kingsman, and now Deadpool all being successes and all having confirmed sequels.

George please surprise us with a confirm of the Fury Road sequel. :)

So could we actually see a 4 day approaching 150m?

Depends on Valentines day I guess.

If today is at the $43M end of that range, and Valentine's day is flat, the weekend will be $133M. President's day isn't as big a day at the movies as Memorial day or the Winter holidays, but I suppose that $15M would be possible on Monday.
