Hopefully HDR will be included or correctly supported with future patches, because a cyberpunk game without HDR is just egregious!

In the other thread, comparing performance to RT mode, there was models - in door scenes - of objects that are supposed to curved that had clearly faceted edges - from using LoDs at too low a level - you'd never see in the last-gen console games, so are you saying the top PC settings has all those models without faceted edges? Genuine question as I haven't tried the game on anything, and still wondering if it is worth my time, when I suspect it'll be in much better shape in 12month's time.

Is the framerate dependant on whether you use a 4k TV or not? Do you need a 4k TV to experience the better framerate on the PS5?

Didn't think so. In fact, provided you have a PS5 you don't require a 4k TV at all in order to experience what is shown and talked about in the DF video, no crutches or conditionals required.

Why do people keep saying this. VRR as a technology was to give developers more locked choice between 30 and 60 for artistic reasons, and more options above 60, it was not meant to be a frame-rate catcher for poorly performing games that can drop 10 or 20fps from normal, but sadly that's the way nvidia/amd and DF are projecting its use.

That's always been the case since Xbox One X hasn't it?
Higher Res but at a cost, and we sit here wondering why they didn't just keep it the same across platforms.
I'm sure the little extra power would benefit the Xbox system in other departments.

But Xbox One X was truly/without a doubt more powerful than PS4 PRO, this is far from being the case now. I don't think the analogy quite works.

No elsewhere one of DF assumes based on PC game that the drops are caused by CPU, not GPU.

I hope they do continue updating it.
It's acceptable now but there is a lot of stuff which still feels bandaided to get it out the door.

Yeah, there was never legitimate debate. The PS4 clearly outperformed the Xbox One. The Xbox One X clearly outperformed PS4 Pro.

But, PS5 and Series X trade blows pretty equally. And by "blows", I mean, no one can even tell the difference until DF tells us the winner and Riky Riky brags about the Series's X victory or Riky Riky ingores DF and claims Series X won anyway in hopes that no one notices.

It loads in teraflops more than twice as quickly as the Xbox's. It was in Cerny's presentation.

'All told then, placing PS5 and Series X in RT mode alongside Series S's standard non-RT presentation, all are offering a 1440p30 outlook and all look very similar, with RT only manifesting in an impactful way in select indoor areas"

Maybe if they would have used all the RDNA2 features like my quote, you rather sadly are clinging on to, says then it would have a 60fps mode to.
 
They recommand Performance mode, i like that.

Also, the way they litteraly just quickly talked and summed it for Xbox Series S once again said it all about that console

Having never played cyberpunk due to waiting for the next gen patch i tried it on both series x and ps5. I thought they both ran very similar but decided to buy it on ps5. My two reasons were its more likely to be on game pass free at some point and the haptic feedback on dual sense is great once u turn it down a bit. The df video says what is true the versions are almost the same and anyone claiming different is looking through console war glasses.
 
I am glad I waited to play this, I bought the game like a year ago, and promptly uninstalled it because of dem buggies. I do wish they'd of upped some of the scene clutter geometry, but whatevs.

There are cases, and not a few, where XSX has the advantage of resolution and also the same or better framerate...

I don't think it has anything to do with the developers' choice and simply It is a product of circunstances in the development and optimization of the different versions that cannot be exactly identical either.
It is simply that, no matter how similar they are in hardware, they have some difference and also use different APIs. The DRS margins may not work the same, that in specific situations the game code is simply more friendly with the tools of one or the other...

In general, at least as seen in this year and a half, they are possibly the most even consoles in history. Having the exact same architecture and technology it is not surprising what you are seeing.
But no matter how similar they are, there are always aspects that make it very difficult or impossible to make 100% identical versions.
 
So the question is…. Is the slightly higher resolution better than the slightly higher fps?
Would the SX run the same or better if the resolution wasn't as aggressive ?

I don't think devs put VRR in consideration when making the game. It seems more like Series X performs relatively better with higher resolution output (maybe due to more CUs and more bandwidth) while PS5 performs relatively better at framerate stability (maybe I/O related).
 
Is not that VRR is an "advantage" on the SeX, what it actually is is an "necessity".
In these topics we masturbate to the strongest console and more often the not it's the PS5 with the bigger stick.
VRR is something that needs to become a universal standard already, that's why it's coming too for the PS5. But until it arrives it's omission is less felt on the PS5 than it would on the SeX.

Seems like devs are really relying on VRR on SeX to deliver "a bit more", but this more is simple too little. 120p extra lines of resolution and not all the time? Not that this is the reason for such massive drops anyway, but devs should lower quality a bit more to ensure 60fps because after all, not all gamers still have a TV that supports VRR. Many people still owns older TV that don't support the spec.

Good improvements overall, and also on laoding times, but still can do better on PS5, those 13 seconds need to go down to 4-6 seconds on PS5.
 
I was slightly surprised to see him arrive at the conclusion that PS5 was the better performing out of the two, the way he talked about them led me to believe Series X was performing slightly better on average.

Well, FPS>Resolution in my book. Too bad I don't wanna give CDPR my money. Might check out the demo, though.

According to NXgamer's analysis PS5 loads slightly faster than XSX.

These small RT features like shadows and reflections are the least efficient use of GPU power I think I've ever seen. Who in their right mind would choose such a tiny improvement to fidelity over something as pervasive as 60fps?

Literally the only case where RT on consoles has been remotely worth the cost has been the GI in Metro Exodus. Complete waste of time otherwise.
 
I was kinda interested in the DF video but I really was interested in seeing how Lil' VRR would react and if there would be any fallout.

The PS5 enjoys better framerate while running at a lower native resolution, but only at the most stressful snippets of the game, overall in performance mode they both run closer to 60fps, anyone with a half brain knows it's a clear win for both, but those with a VRR display, the better choice is the Series X version with its higher pixel count.

You are not going to look at those small differences in resolution side by side and be able to say which is better. The whole comparison is a wash.
