He's not wrong, NXGamer does outright say that. Basically he said the frame rate trades places and in some places SX runs better than PS5 too.

It's a big open world game, minor variances will and should be expected. Safe to say PS5 probably has a higher average frame rate but not by much, especially after how bad SX version dipped in the 1.25 patched version.

Nxgamer didn't just "outright" say what Riky claims he said. Nuance can be a tricky thing but I know English is not Riky's first language so its normal to miss things.

In any case, DF's video is pretty clear on where they stand on the issue, dedicating a good portion to it.

He never said that IIRC, all he said was that some older engines favor wide and slow and some older engines favor fast and narrow. He made no definitive statement on what future engines will rely on more heavily either.

Weve already seen big resolution differences between the two, Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus, Far Cry 6 I could go on, plus Dying Light 2 running 20-60fps faster on Series X.
Once all the RDNA2 features get used the gap will widen, bookmark that.

It's really stupid to list series x's VRR modes fps advantage when ps5 doesn't have vrr when you're talking about power differences. You're other points are all fine but that makes you sound like a fanboy and hurts your argument

the only ACTUAL source I personally trust is VGTech as they provide the exact screenshots they used for pixelcounting so you can verify their findings at least somewhat

Because there's barely any difference between the two. I remember back in the One X Vs Pro days there wasn't really any way for people to deny the superior version. It was usually a Native 1440P Vs Native 4K kind of situation. Now the difference is a lot smaller with each system having their own sets of advantages. Makes the nitpicking a lot worse IMO.

Well, let's wait till it actually is out to see "how" they implemented it. They could have a fucked up version of VRR just like they had some weird ass issues with some of the TV's trying to run 4k/120. I hope it is a good execution, but history with Sony's updates on the TV's has not been steller.

Any new TV that supports the HDMI 2.1 spec has built in VRR. So, in most cases unless you're specifically looking for a cheaper TV like the TCL. It should.

Even TCL's will start adding HDMI 2.1 from what I recall reading last year.




But both I and DF clearly state that non issue point for VRR only. The labeling couldn't be any clearer.

It *is* a non issue for Series X owners with VRR displays. Whether HDMI 2.1 or Freesync.

Having 2.1 does not automatically mean you get all the benefits of 2.1. Companies like Sony are still trying to shoehorn VRR into the existing 2.1 chipset they have.

So in short, just because a TV has HDMI 2.1 ports, DOES NOT mean they support the full suite of HDMI 2.1 features.

what mode are you playing in and what makes it that much better? The vids I don't see a massive difference but welcome upgrades to be sure.

Sorry I should have stated that I'm playing on PC. Either way both PS5 and Xbox Series X owners should be happy with the big improvements made not only the visuals and performance but also how it plays now.
It feels more alive now that NPC's react to what's happening around them. I mean its not GTAV levels good or Watch Dogs 2 but this is a start and these guys can build on this.

The Sony TV's not having VRR on hdmi 2.1 is a very specific issue to their TVs, most others do have it.

I should have said most, not all, but you know, it's a very specific issue for a very specific brand.

With the recent muddying of what encompasses HDMI 2.1, it's gonna get a bit more confusing.

On one hand this is probably the most recent insight into the tools situation for both consoles as CDPR just worked this with apis for each respective system. On the other hand after the launch they had, thier credibility in thier ability to get what they should out of a system is tarnished to say the least. I would say its a trend at this point through that the PS5 favors performance (slightly) and the XsX favors resolution (slightly).

The thing i find the most interesting here though is the PS5 outperforming XsX in RT mode while at the same resolution.

Looks like the best way to play on console is Series X with VRR easily, higher resolutions, totally smooth and faster loading.

I'll take the Dualsense controller over those any day.. Because for this game, it's a much of a muchness between both consoles. And the Series X controller compared to Dualsense is dog shit which is a huge impact to the experience. Not just talking haptic but the feel of the controller and speaker feels way more immersive.

When it comes to the loading times it depends on which comparison you're looking at. They pretty much coincide with everything else.

I feel complete opposite. I don't like the duel sense controller that much...it is usable/passable, but I don't feel anything special for it at all. It feels too wide and the features are not that impactful or rarely implemented well. The Series X controller for me is the GOAT.

If ray tracing mode is a trade-off with the resolution, there should be a mode with dynamic ray tracing and resolution where ray traced shadows are toggled off automatically in outdoor areas since it seems to only make a difference in indoor areas. Don't even know if such a thing is possible.

More like 1440P vs 1800P as a 'typical' divide, sometimes lower. There were some exeptions of course.

There were a lot of games where the divide was pretty significant. And that's based on Native resolutions btw.

Yes they are very close, but the XSX has the edge. More Compute and bandwidth on the same architecture will prove to be more useful in the long run.

PS5 has indeed the performance advantage in RT mode, XSX is pretty regularly dropping to 29 FPS in the video while PS5 remains locked.

Edit: There is one prolonged drop to 29 FPS actually not featured on PS5 part. I am having some problems with Tom's narration today apparently, he almost sounds like PS5 is more solid but i am not so sure anymore. Sorry if i mislead some posters.

Edit 2: It is more stable on PS5 according to NXgamer's analysis at least. Beginning at around 5:40 min.

I don't know how you can stand the cheap face buttons, the cheap d-pad clicky clacky sound is so horrendous. I'm not easily annoyed and this really annoys me so much, its so loud playing late at night. Can even hear it through my headphones. And the other face buttons are not much better, its so cheaply built in comparison. The Series X triggers are nice and yes, it feels comfortable in the hand but that's not enough for me to prefer it. I constantly switch between the Series X and PS5 and every time I pick up the Dualsense after the Series X controller, it reminds me how much better made the Dualsense is.

I mostly blame that on people like TimDog or Dealer Gaming. Most knew these systems would be on par with each other. The only ones freaking out over the lack f a massive difference are the really dumb fanboys. Which are a minority btw.
