They never let you forget it in episodes that she appears in, even during serious moments like regeneration scenes.

Vastra, Strax, and Jenny are great and I doubt we've seen the last of them. I couldn't picture them tagging along for successive adventures though, which to my mind is kind of necessary for the title of Companion, but I get your meaning entirely.

They fall into the Brig role. Which doesn't really have a formal title, and perhaps it should.

What do guys think are the chance of the BBC releasing some kind of complete Matt Smith thing. I already have seasons 1-4 (+ the last DT specials) and would like to get all of Matt Smith to watch during the gap. Getting all of Matt Smith would be easier than getting all the series plus the specials they haven't included with them separately. Think this is possible? Or was the complete 1-7 enough milking?

Okay GAF, I need some serious help understanding River Song. Specifically series 6 finale and series 7 part 1. I've tried to read the Doctor Who Wiki entry about it and I still can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be a godsend.

In the series 6 finale with
the Doctor marrying River Song
, they both make mention of it in the Angels take Manhatten. However if River Song's past is the Doctor's future, wouldn't River not know about the
wedding
at that point?

I've only just started Series 7 part 2, so if this is answered later on just let me know and I'll wait patiently.

It's not a hard and fast rule, they're just meeting out of order. At the end of Series 7,
River makes her first post-Library appearance
.

They're not necessarily moving in opposite directions, that's just how it's played out in most of her appearances.

She knows all of the Doctor's faces, so she's presumably met all of his other incarnations, so their histories are definitely overlapping out of order.

From what I understand, that wedding is somewhere in the middle, Let's kill Hitler is the first time RiverSong meets the doctor, and (Spoilers for David Tennant's run if you haven't seen it)
Silence in the Library is the last time they see each other
. So the timelines are not going directly opposite, they are kind of intertwined.

Ah, that's right! Thank you. She's just time traveling as well. Can't believe I couldn't figure that out...well actually I can because half the time I have to read GAF to understand any big time travel episode.

Love the show but wow sometimes I can't follow it at all.

Has anyone else heard a rumor that we will be getting Peter Capaldi's first episode at Easter and it will be at least 60 minutes long?

That'd be really cool. A way to fill the big gap to Series 8 and getting in some big audiences. Actually, as a general rule, if the series is permanently moving to autumn having an Easter special would be pretty awesome.

And if it's true, it makes sense they'd need to film it early, and so get the costume reveal out in Jan as Quick Mustard says.

Hmmm i figured there was more to this rumor then just this tweet, but couldn't find anything. oh well :\

EDIT: Photos incoming in about 20 minutes.

I think Eddie @ Skaro is a nutter. Personally I've heard nothing about it. Jan 1st for the costume seems about right however.

I remember Outpost Skaro or w.e the site was called posting that Nathan Fillion would be in Torchwood as a Time Agent. Pretty sure it's just fandon and lies being posted as truth.

"The ‘Other Doctor’ is the Doctor’s dark chapter, a hitherto unknown incarnation whose existence he has spent centuries repressing, a secret he wants no one to know of."

hurt-mcgann-action-figure-2013.jpg

The super big news about this is that it's in the 5inch scale. Which is perfect and could mean that more "new" figures are getting the 5 inch treatment. Since the move to 3.75 inch the quality has went down the pan and it's a big blow to collectors like me because I either have to start fresh with 3.75 inch have a set of figures that look like midgets or stop collecting.

I have all the Doctors and his companions and a good selection of iconic monsters and baddies in the 5inch scale and refuse to add 3.75 to that collection. War Doctor 5 inch makes me very happy.

People on GB seem to think we'll be seeing Capaldi's costume on the 1st January.

That makes sense, I've heard they are going to start filming season 8 in early 2014 and they will probably reveal the costume before filming starts since it would get leaked if they didn't.

Alright, I've got to say I think this is pretty awesome. My 10 year old sister drew this for me today:

Yep, that's Strax on top of the Tardis.

One thing that I love about Doctor Who is that it's actually something that my entire family enjoys. Our age ranges and interests vary a lot, and I feel like my youngest sister feels a bit left out sometimes (since she's so young compared to the rest of us). The fact that she likes Doctor Who as much as the rest of us makes me happy.

Althought at first glance I thought Strax had jeans on lol Seems to be on top of the Tardis.

This is really cool!

There's some supposed leaked dialog floating around which seems to confirm that the prophecy refers to
the fall of the Silence and their empire on Trenzalore
.

Abramal: If I may, why are you here, Doctor?

The Doctor notices a tall figure standing behind Abramal, in shadow.

The Doctor: Who's that?

Abramal turns. He's shocked.

Abramal: I don't... I don't know.

He turns back to the Doctor.

Abramal: What was I blathering about? Oh, yes! Why are you here, Doctor?

Clara: But what about that person?

The Doctor knows what's going on. He strides towards the figure. Clara, Abramal and Marta cautiously follow.

The Doctor: Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no, no. Why here?

They reach the tall figure. It is a SILENT.

Clara: Doctor, what the hell is that?

The Doctor (to Silent): If you're smart then you'll get off this planet right now.

Silent: Who are you to demand such a thing?

The Doctor: I'm the Doctor, and that means it's not a demand, it's a requirement.

Silent: A doctor?

The Doctor: You don't know me? You tried to kill me.

Silent: You are not an enemy of ours. Yet.

The Doctor: Then let me ask, if I'm a doctor, who are you?

Silent: We are the Silence.

The Doctor: The Silence, eh? Well, how can you be called that and not know me? Your silence is my silence. My death.

Silent: No.

The Doctor: Then what is it?

Silent: We are the Silent Rulers. We have had dominion over this world for a millennia, and yet no one knows we are here.

The Doctor: Well, not for much longer.

Silent: The Empire of the Silence will never fall.

The Doctor: That's what the Romans said.

He turns to his three companions.

The Doctor: Abramal, Marta, Christmas Town is being invaded.

Suddenly, there is a massive explosion to the right of them, in the distance. DALEKS.

Dalek: Exterminate!

Marta: Well, I can see that!

Wait, where does the
Trenzalore stuff come in?
Because honestly at this point
they should just stop mentioning Trenzalore. Its where he dies finally. Fine, whatever. Don't turn it into a major plot point that is going to make things screwy in the near term

Trenzalore is where the Silence come from, it's either their home planet or the center of their empire. The reason they were trying to kill the Doctor is because they wanted to prevent the war on Trenzalore from ever happening.
The prophecy about the Fall of the Eleventh, the Fields of Trenzalore, Silence will Fall when the Question is Asked? That's not a prophecy at all.
That was the Silence's account of what already happened to them, and they were trying to change it by killing the Doctor before he could get to Trenzalore.

It's pretty clear to me that
everything we've seen to do with The Silence occurs while Eleven is stuck battling on Trenzalore. The "endless, bitter war" etc. There have been some screens released with a woman surrounded by clerics who could easily be a young Kovarian. "Time of the Doctor" will see the beginning and "Fall" of the Silence, I feel.

Steven Moffat absolutely categorically stated at the BFI that the 2014 series will NOT be split at all, but is one continuous run next year.

Awesome. The split series thing led to a lot of weird tonal shifts.

Holy shit, that actually redeems a lot of Series 6. Really excited for this episode.

Good to hear that we're getting a proper full season of Capaldi now that Sherlock has been wrapped up for another two years or so.

Yeah, now we actually know what the Silence's motivation was. It was pretty bold of Moffat to tell the story out of order like that.

Can't wait to see the Silence doing battle against the Daleks and Cybermen and Weeping Angels.

He's going to be crushed when he finds out the Doctor isn't real...

Then again, I hate the whole Santa thing too. So that's just my own jaded opinion I suppose.
