An elderly mother was arrested after she allegedly shot her adult son because he was being too loud while playing video games.

According to court documents and police records obtained by local outlet KPNX, officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence at around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday where they found a 38-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim's mother, 72-year-old Hazel Benson, reportedly told police that she shot her son and threw the handgun into a nearby canal.

Benson allegedly called 911 earlier that same night at around 7:45 p.m., at which point police arrived and learned that she was frustrated that her son, the victim, was making too much noise while playing video games. After the police arrived the victim left the house to go for a walk to "calm down," and officers told his mother that he had "legal standing" at the home, per the outlet.

By the time the victim returned back to the house, Benson was reportedly waiting for him with a firearm and blocked the door so he couldn't enter. She claimed her son jumped toward her with "his hands in fists at his waistline," prompting her to fire the gun. She reportedly said she was unsure if she hit the victim with the bullet. The victim fled but returned once again shortly after, pounding on the back door, per the report. At that point Benson called 911 to report the shooting.

Looks like she has dementia or something of the sort judging by the expression on her face. Seems like she was coherent enough to know what she was doing was wrong though... Still, it's a mental illness if you're immediately going for a gun to try and solve problems in your life. The son likely also has some mental illness too, I mean 38 and still living with his mother. Maybe yelling at some dudes on CoD or some shit.

Looks like this happened in Mesa Arizona. I don't know anything about that place but Arizona does have its fair share of tweakers (Speed addicts).
