Exactly the point I've been trying to make. But its quite obvious that some don't care regardless. If this is half as bad as this thread makes it out to be then Thor 2 should have been straight to DVD.

Well I hope people will actually make up their own minds instead of just going with the flow of whatever the popular opinion online is.

To be honest given all of the things I had heard I was expecting this film to be an absolute joke and probably would have laughed about someone going to see it. I think the want for the rights to go back to Marvel is just too strong with most people to give this a fair shot.

Not that I think it's a great film or anything, it certainly has it's flaws even the first half but I think it would have been interesting as a film in it's own right had it been allowed to breathe.

My only complaint is: Why is Reed so unbelievably dumb? Forget director sacking, script rewrites, bad CG, wigs, where Reed got his power from, inconsistent Doom, rushed third act; why does Reed keep making these awful decisions no human being with an ounce of intellect would do? He is supposed to be one of the most brilliant minds in the Marvel universe. And I'm not talking about a few bad decisions here. I'm talking about at least a dozen. Goddamn. It boggles the mind.

That's part of Reed's character trait though. He doesn't make the best decisions.

Good point, the film makes it a point to talk about his intellect but outside of building the plot device he doesn't seem to do much to show you he is one of the greatest minds on the planet, in fact as you say he seems to do almost the opposite.

I think it boils down to the fact that as I mentioned earlier it's not a good FF film at all, certainly doesn't respect the source material. I think it's a stealth sci-fi film parading in FF clothing, rather than being a superhero film/summer action movie.

For those that have seen the film and saw the last two films with Chris Evans. Can you honestly say those films are worse then this film?

Everything I'm reading is making that impossible for me to believe. Campy as those films might be those are complete films based on what I remember watching and everything I'm reading about in regard to this latest film. I've heard a few people say this latest one was still better even though it seems to be garbage. So many of the complaints toward this latest film can't be leveled at the past films I believe. However the hate those last two films get (cloud Galactus and weird Doom aside) never made sense anyway.

The 2005 film is better than the 2015 film.

Thor 2 was enjoyable. It was fun, and while not a classic, it was a good time at the theater.

It had a 66% RT score with a 78% audience score. People liked that movie.

Nobody but you likes this FF movie.

This. I'm not the biggest fan of Thor 2, & even I find it tolerable.

Thor 2 was fun, but definitely an uneven movie.

I still kind of want to see F4, but I get the feeling I won't even enjoy it on the level of something like Batman & Robin or Ghost Rider 2, which are insanely fun trash.

There is nothing fun here. You just kind of feel bad for the film, because you see what could have been a decent adaptation just lost somewhere.

I hope FOX just keeps making shitty lower budget Fantastic Four movies every two years regardless of their success/failure. Just a giant F U to Marvel.

wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel

Is this a bannable thing to say? Because it sounds like a bannable thing to say, lol!

Maybe then FOX could go completely broke that way and Marvel could get the Xmen and FF back too?

Ah, so it's a long term strategy...

They allowed their Daredevil rights to expire after that dud of a film, so don't get your hopes up.

Weren't they attempting to get a project together though? I thought the story was they just ran out of time and the rights lapsed back to Marvel, but they had every intention to relaunch Daredevil to retain. Then Marvel dropped that amazing show...

I kind of think that resolution of the F4 rights and whether a deal is possible is going to come down to how bad the blood between Marvel and Fox really is. It seems pretty bad right now, especially because Fox is now eyeing X-Men tv options, which comes across as being jealous of that Marvel Studios domination.

Yeah, Carnahan almost made it. His pitch/sizzle reel hit the internet shortly thereafter.

No kidding.

That could've been somewhat interesting, although I'm pretty mixed on him as a filmmaker.

So is it extremely likely that Fox won't try a X-men/Fantastic Four crossover now?

Marvel would have to sign off on that I believe- I doubt the original contracts would allow such a crossover without Marvel approval.

And I highly doubt they'd give it...

The Fantastic Four is such a worthless brand at this point. If and when Marvel gets the rights back I wonder if they'll just use Doom and Galactus for Phase 4 and not bother with the actual team. We may be waiting a very long time for an actual Fantastic Four movie done right.

I think Marvel would get more use out of Kang (who is tied up in the FF rights) than just about everyone else attached to the franchise for the foreseeable future.

They can use Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, and Skrull for modern movies and make a campy 60s Fantastic Four movie in Phase 5 or so.

They might do a really low budget version or TV series. Then after awhile do a big budget movie.

So much gold locked up with Fox. Doom, Galactus, surfer and other heralds, super skrulls and skrulls in general along with other alien races, annihulus..like damn, we all know Fox ain't about any of dat life. Please release them from cinematic prison, fox. You don't give a shit about any of the mentioned and won't for probably ever. What a waste.

This is one thing I'm very excited about for the DCCU. You never have to worry about whether or not a character could appear.

The big get for the F4 license isn't even the team but the villains.

Shame it's getting awful reviews. I was looking forward to it after hearing Josh Trank talk about on Kevin Smith's podcast. I really liked Chronicle too.

Guessing either
a)Marvel did what Marvel seems to do more now and intervene and try and make it more appealing
b)or Trank is a hack

Can someone explain to me why they had to do "reshoots" of scenes? Like were the fist shot scenes bad and then some time later, the director or whoever changed his mind and reshot some scenes?

And just read about Mara's blonde fake wig. Why did the reshoots have her with a wig? Was her natural hair not good enough? Why didnt someone point out it would clash with the older shot scenes?

Marvel had nothing to do with this. It's a Fox film.

Most of the time reshoots are done bc of errors or they didn't get a good enough take. For this movie reshoots were done to fix the whole thing. It's rumored to have been up to 40 pages of reshoots which is insane.

She wore a wig bc most likely her hair was different for a new film, so they slapped a wig on her and didn't bother to try to match it up with the already shot scenes.

Marvel had nothing to do with this movie. It was 100% Fox.

Kate Mara got her hair cut for another film, so she had to get a wig for the reshoots.
