Seeing the way doom is treated makes me sad as he is one of marvels GOAT's.
Thinking of doom I would love if Marvel ever got the rights back give him the "Beasts of no nation" Treatment, Limited release, to not fuck with their phase 3 plans. And then release it on Netflix soon after.
-Have Doom be a ruthless dictator that cares and loves his people
-Treat it like the Nazi's back in WWII where doom goes on a land grab for latveria, and the worlds governments appease him to avoid war.
-Ultron bodies as doombots
-Very serious feel, like Schlinders list, and not jokes every 5 seconds like Age of Ultron
- Explore his relationship with his Gypsy mother and father
-I would love to see Scarlet Witch go back to Sovokia-Latveria and see how doom has changed her people for better or worse.
-How do the avengers react to dooms actions?
-How did doom become doom?
-What is his relationship with Morgan Le Fay?

I would prefer they introduce Doom in FF (and I agree 100% with your casting for him) and then do a Dr Doom origin/crossover film with Dr Strange based on Triumph and Torment. That series goes a long way of explaining why Doom is the way he is and that he isn't Evil he just doesn't care about anything as long as his goal are accomplished.
Also I just want to put out there in the ether Rami Malek for Reed Richards. Have Reed be an extremely socially awkward genius (like his Mr. Robot character) and show how his interactions with the rest of the FF helps humanize him.

I wonder how much better Tranks original vision or the stuff they cut could have made it. I mean its a bad movie no two ways about it, but a few extra bits here and there could have at least made the story more coherent.
I think over the next week we'll begin to get more BTS stories about this movie.
I'm fascinated to know who was responsible for what. I haven't listened to that Kevin Smith talk yet. Is Trank going to talk about his version at all? I think Fox are spiteful enough to consider this good enough.
Due to the fanboys going on and on about it Fox no doubt knows the value of the characters they've got. It baffles me why they don't do a Silver Surfer movie. They seem very loathe to go outside of the earth realm.

Silver surfer is kind of wack without something to ground him. That's is why the 90's cartoon failed, That's why he wasn't able to carry the FF silver surfer movie, hell that's why they had to give him a human girlfriend in the modern comics for it to last for once. Anyhow fans have been talking for years about how great Doom is and we've see what Fox did with that knowledge 3 times.
FF have all the great ancillary characters and villains that could flesh out the MCU, but they aren't an easy sell like the X-Men where its basically a story about discrimination against people because they are different. You got to understand why Doom works, or Kang, or how Galactus and the Silver Surfer tie together to get anything out of them.

The third act is a turd, that's the issue. Oh and personally I didn't like the first one either, but apparently some gaffers thought it was amazing. To each their own I guess.

Why is ben so absent from the movie? Theres a pretty wide gap between him dropping reed off at university, then him coming back.
And what the hell kind of writing is it, where the only reason ben is there and gets powers at all is cos Reed calls him when they get wasted? Sure we're supposed to know theyre best mates, but they've had barely any screen time together.

I've never seen this type of thing before. This movie is going down in flames. All the reviews seem to be stuck in the negative zone. Maybe Fox just stretched the property too far. The chances of any sequels are vanishing by the minute. But let's be honest, it was doomed from the start.

That depends. Catwoman is SO bad, it's GLORIOUS. It's a fascinating failure of a movie that does literally everything wrong and entertains me from start to finish in the same way that "The Room" does.
Fant4stic, however, is not so much bad as it is DULL. It's not even "so bad it's good". It does some things well, even, but it's so much less memorable that, ultimately, it's worse than being "bad"; it's utterly boring and forgettable.
Saw this yesterday. Inclined to believe the rumors and Trank's Twitter rant.
First half of the movie was actually.... Really good. Like as in I really have nothing negative to say and it actually went in a cool direction with the origin. I found myself thinking "wtf is wrong with people? This is great!!"
Then after Reed escaped it turned into a wholy different, very boring, very generic super hero movie with a stupid looking Doom. It's been a while since I've watched a movie this schizophrenic. Would be amazing if there was an original cut somewhere of the second half before Fox fucked it up.
Not worth going to the theater for, but seriously... When this hits Netflix do yourself a favor and watch the first 45 mins or so. Marvel could even take notes from it on a possible reboot of the comic.
Teenage daughter summed it up best (without knowing any of the gossip) "I just never cared about any of them, which is weird.. It seems way more plausible to me that instead of it simply being "TRANK FUCKED THE DOG" or "THE STUDIO FUCKED TRANK" (because it's usually never that easy) - looking at the rumors (reddit/collider), the reports (Hollywood Reporter/EW), the tweets (Trank/Landis/Slater), that we have a situation where:
Trank got a lot of faith placed in him and a lot of pressure placed on him.
He was told that setpieces needed to come out because they were too expensive
The resultant scramble to replace content stressed him the fuck out
The resultant stress caused him to act out
The acting out caused a lack of faith in him
The lack of faith and bad behavior meant he essentially had to be replaced
The people who had to replace him before the clock ran out couldn't come up with any ideas that were worth a shit
Those ideas weren't executed well because nobody still there had any faith left in the project
Those bad ideas, poorly executed, dragged down what good ideas were still there.
