What was all that stuff with the car?

Doubt it would be the flying car. If I had to guess
all three of them would have went to Panama to retrieve Reed rather than just Ben and a couple of goons. I would guess it was the car he was driving to get the part from the junk shop.

Edit: I actually watched the whole video and it did look like they had the car. WTF indeed. Film must have been really different initially.

The movie is crap but also is difficult to make a good movie from a weak heroes as the fantastic 4 , they not have the appeal of the Xmen or Avengers.

For me then worse of the movie is Dr. Doom, I have seen better costplays at expos than that cheap Dr Doom. The effects in general looked from a movie made 10 years ago or more.

The problem with these FF movies is that they have all ways tried to be like the Xman or avengers. They are explores and scientists not superheroes in the traditional sense anyway.

The Fantastic Four aren't like the X-Men or Avengers. They're not superheroes, they're scientists and explorers. They're not a team, they're a family.

The writers Fox is hiring for these movies can't seem to comprehend this.

Not sure I agree with this. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the characters that makes them any worse than the Avengers or x Men. If they wrote a decent script they could make a f4 film every bit as good as the other franchises.

You sure? They have made movies with this family for 20 years, and the best one wasn't even meant to be released to the public.

The entire Fantastic Four is in Ultimate Alliance and they make a pretty good team. Hell the boss of that game is Doom......urge to play through Ultimate Alliance as the Fantastic Four rising.

Just got out of this and yeah... Not good at all.

The more interesting conversation though is exactly WHY it's bad. What confuses me the most is that this film is terrible in many bizzare fundamental "Movie Making 101" kinda ways. Editing is the biggest flaw as has been discussed to death but other things like basic cinematography, lighting and production design are also weirdly poor.

I think the idea of a Cronenberg horror-superherho riff is awesome and could totally work with the right amount of direction and tone. What doesn't work however is trying to mold something as cheesy as the F4 into something like that.

It's kind of amazing that they even greenlit it at all. It also doesn't help that Trank is a crazed cokehead who probably won't be given a meaningful budget by a major studio again.

There was a lot of shitty Batman movies before Nolan took over. There was a really bad Daredevil movie before the Netflix series. What is it about the F4 characters that make it impossible to make a decent movie? The right people could absolutely make a good movie with the IP. Sadly the right people weren't involved with this film.

They had to have some kind of Fantastic Four film this year. They're obligated to have a new movie in production every 7 years or they lose the rights.

GOTG. Now if you wanted to see a comic book team-up movie that's a joy to watch, but also doesn't really earn any of its emotional beats, this is the movie to see.

Eh, it felt earned enough for me. A little cheesy sure, but I thought Star-Lord's arc was reasonably emotional, especially when it had to pay attention to four other characters.

I'd be surprised if FF, even with it's hour-long establishing of the characters made me care one iota close to what I did for the Guardians by film's end.

That sounds like a bad scenario.

What sounds like an even worse scenario is making a film to fill that gap and having it tank, bringing a great deal of cash and credibility with it.

In that sense, this is just a repeat of the Amazing Spiderman 2 debacle.

Between the duds (B&R and (imho) Returns) Batman had a lot of good ones too... And Daredevil was proven to work when netflix did it. I don't see your point. Fantastic Four has never worked on screen. If you animate it sure, then it works, but the concept of a superhero family is so.. well comicbooky that it is on the knifes edge of working as live action. I don't know how it could work.

Have no idea if the movie will be good, bad or forgettable, but this narrative that no one can do popular, successful F4 stuff is insane.

Not enough of an impact whatsoever. Not enough to ruin the movie for me or anything, I still love it, but these things including Rocket's mood whiplash just didn't work well.

Yea but you can not deny that this scene is more intense than the whole F4 movie :

Can we finally admit that no one wants to see a teenage fantastic four.

A friend at work went to see it last night and fell asleep watching it. He said it was really boring.

Here's how I would do justice to the movie and move away from the same old narrative.

Don't reveal Doom as Victor Von Doom, the hacker who goes and gets left behind. How they could've done it is you see a nice movie where the whole progress from beginning to the teleportation can stay the same except you don't need Doom to go with them. Instead, they reach the planet and find out Dr. Doom is already there and for a long time, and he looks like the Doom from the comics. You find out that Dr. Doom already has mastered teleportation quite some time ago and has been harnessing the planet for his own good and knowledge and strength. Cue the four aborting mission while Doom tries to wipe them out. One of the scientist dies there while the rest of the three escape, but not without the mutation.

Then you spend the next 40 minutes of the movie with Dr. Doom fucking shit up and military ain't able to do nothing about it, so they ask Fantastic Four to help. After almost being defeated, Doom starts the black hole and then you can continue fighting in Planet Zero.

Whatever... I still don't get why you'd introduce the main Villian of their entire saga and not make him actually create havoc in Earth. Going to a completely different planet eliminates any chance of survival and bigger action set pieces.
