Hi everyone,

Been playing since start and it's been great. Haven't been this excited over an MMO since the first 4 years of WoW and I've pretty much tried most of the MMOs since. Been a guildmaster / officer in most games I've played. Usually play tank / healer. Still playing FFXIV ARR actively and I don't see myself quitting anytime soon. However, I find myself in a situation where it's difficult to get myself into raiding with my current (and currently first and only) guild.

So, I'm looking for a guild and I wonder if anyone would know one that would suit me:

- Gf
- Job
- Other hobbies
- European timezone
- English / Finnish

Regardless, I'm able to put a lot of time into the game. I'm looking for a guild that has a active community (beyond FFXIV too even) and the average age would preferrably be around 30. For raiding I expect people to focus and put 110% to the effort... you know, focus without taking things too serious. Basically, I'm looking for a group of people who are laid back and active, and who know how raids and raiding works without any of the drama - as I'm too old for that sh*t.

Thanks,
What server are you on? We have a GAF Free Company on Ultros.

Had to level up my mrd to get past the satasha part of the main questline because of the queues on my pulgist. This is the first mmo ive ever tanked and im kinda enjoying it. Think I may take warrior as my first job to 50.

Lv. 35 now. Should I do fate run or continue with questing ? (First char)

I you can do your mains story quests, do those 1st. If not, unlock the optional dungeons and do them, imo fates are a last resort for leveling during main story.

Genuine question: why?

Can assume it's because too many mechanics are reused from earlier bosses, so when you see them again you know how to handle them and it's not a surprise. It's not even that the mechanics are bad exactly, it's just that they don't change them up enough for them to be a challenge to figure out and if you've dealt with them before then it's not too hard to deal with them again.

Every fight doesn't need it's own 100% unique mechanics, just when multiple mechanics are reused then some of them need to have some different element to them that makes you have to think again rather than know exactly how to handle them when you first see it.

T10 feels fresh for my group for now, even our tanks (and especialy OT) are not bored for a change, that's something no  ?
But this is my first raid level mmo, so every mechanics is new to me x) I'm still waiting for a Simon says boss where you have to perform the correct dance to evade damage.

/mdance is always the correct dance.

So now that I made it through Qarn, any reason I should be worried about Cutter's Cry? We wiped twice on Qarn since no one knew what to do on the first boss at first, but after that it was no problem. I keep waiting for another difficulty spike after Bray, but I have yet to see one.

Cutter's is pretty easy, Qarn is probably one of the "tougher" leveling dungeons so I wouldn't worry about anything until Aurum Vale.

Oh you must be joking. -heavy sigh-

Is it too late to go Ninja?

It's never too late to go best class

So check it.
I finally started fishing. Been playing this game for ages and I never even had joined the fishing guild.

So far I finished Log Horizon Season 1.
I'm gauging my progress by how many shows I finish since apparently that's what you do while fishing from what I gather from literally everyone I'm talking to.

Stone Vigil was a minor spike for me when I got to it. Didn't see another spike until I got to Amdapor Keep. This was back in 2.0 though, may be different now.

Genuine question: why?
Given the low amount of encounters found at the endgame, it got pretty surprising by the end of final coil how many mechanics were reused. T13 mechanic spoilers:
The last turn especially is somewhat disappointing in how it feels like Ultima - here's a bunch of stuff you're already used to but in different orders and all together simultaneously, except everything does more damage!

The most fresh turn from final coil I think is t10, but for raids with only four bosses it's surprising and disappointing how much stuff is reused. Considering the mmo model they're sort of following (WoW), the end game raids have typically significantly more bosses (7-15) and a lot more variance. I like the encounters but if I'm still playing when Heavensward releases and the first raid is four bosses with mostly the same mechanics from what I'm used to, I'll probably be done with the game.

From what I hear tank Ironworks body is actually good

I like what I saw of both.
I'll probably hop in and grab the body first.
I'm torn about what job I want to take into T10. Kinda wanna gear something else that isn't BRD. Something melee maybe.

Do the Japanese not use Duty Finder often / not do much PvP? I don't think I've ever successfully managed to get into a duty during Japanese prime time. Even with the appropriate region filters set.

While this applies to Final Coil, it also applies to pretty much every boss in the game. Almost every mechanic has a "like X but" to it. Hell, Shiva has Eruption (Heavenly Strike), Landslide (Avalanche), Slipstream (Glacial Strike), and Lunar Dynamo (Whiteout).

At this point, it's basically just their way of designing encounters. Use earlier content to prepare for future content. As content become less relevant, reuse those abilities on new content so those mechanics don't disappear.

That's not exactly how it works.

There are several data clusters which contain X servers. There are clusters for Japan (the recommended servers for Japanese players) and clusters for NA and EU respectively. That means majority of each regions' players are in their own data clusters and have no interaction with other regions.

The filters aren't region filters. Those are language filters. What you are doing is restricting your duty finder search to those who have checked the Japanese language filter in your NA/EU data cluster.

So is Carbontwine only available in Turn 3? I liked that you could upgrade gear through a few different methods with sol gear. Did they finally have enough of players not playing the way they want and are now demanding players do all of coil to get their gear now?

This is the exact same way it was in 2.2. If you want your handouts then gotta wait until 2.5.

That's very useful information, thanks :)

Are 4* foods like HQ Flint Caviar any good to use during Raiding? I made an HQ this morning just to test it... Wonder how hard Emperor Fish is to catch?

Thinking there should be more than one way to get items isn't asking for a handout.

"I want the best gear by doing something that isn't the hardest content in the game. The reason I want this best gear is for reasons since I won't be doing the hardest content and thats all the gear is good for anyway."

Please tell me if my analysis is off base.

For now, the only way to get the upgrade items is to do Final Coil as they serve as an alternative to people who have poor luck with RNG in getting i130 pieces out of there. They will probably add these items to the next level of Crystal Tower come 2.5.

Yes, I want gear by doing something other than spamming dungeons. Add harder hunts, or something. Just because they think the only way to do "hard" content is with dungeons just shows their lack of imagination. Heck, FFXI even knew that it't hardest content could be done though both instanced and non-instanced events.

Had amazing rolls for sands in ST - 96 and 99 irc. Then I realized that for some weird reason (being sleepy?) I rolled greed. :|

Completing coil isn't equivalent to spamming dungeons so I don't understand your point.

Did Yoshida say anything about new paper guides? I'm in the mood of buying one or both, but the current ones are for patch 2.1.

Hmm, I could never get a Gilgamesh DF to happen on JP server so maybe lol.
