after being away for about four months and coming back, healing a ST with three ninja's and a dragoon who loved standing in every AOE pool was great fun |:

I did get the onion knight minion at the end so at least the RNG gods felt sorry for me

Warrior is a lovely class, i still enjoy it the most and specially in final coil where i am the OT. War is very versatile and more joy then paladin's 1,2,3. Also takes a bit more skill / fast reaction time, we do not have passive reduction and need to time a CD + Innerbeast for every big hit incoming. Also new coil proves that Parry is not a wasted stat anymore (T11 hurts like a truck).

As for your weapon, the soldiery weapon is a fine weapon. I used it untill i got my high allagan axe. Relic is great, specially when you got the time and you can choose the stats that you want later on.

Have fun! :D

Thanks :) guessing the CD is Infuriate (or if that's on CD, try to keep wrath up at 5 for an Inner beast). Especially on fights like T5 I'd imagine (Death Sentence)

With CD's i mean Vengeance, Foresight or Thrill of Battle. I mostly use infuriate as a oh shit button when i don't have enough stacks to do IB. And yeah Death Sentence is a great example also.. might not be needed as much altho in T9 it still has its purposes but Storms Path is a great skill when reduction is a bigger need then DPS.

You're welcome.

But is it the attitude of the raiders toward non -raiders or actually the other way around?

By my accounts, I'm fairly certain it's the other way around at least 99% of the time that sparks this conversation/topic.

On this site, I certainly agree. Other sites are more of a toss-up between sides. I personally have no problem with waiting for the next CT to get the upgrade materials. I may not even be at that point by then anyways, as I am only at lvl 37 right now. I do feel that everyone should have access to the best gear eventually, but I have no problem with letting the raiders have it first. Personally, I just want the gear because I think it is the best looking in the game right now. I was just kind of taken aback by that whole discussion as it seemed out of character for this group.

Yes. And the materia you get is random. Hence why DET IV's still cost a small fortune.

So it doesn't matter what you spiritbond technically?
Or do certain things get you different stuff?

Side note, if I wanted to get the "affix 100 materia" trophy would there be a relatively easy way to do that or is it as horrifying an undertaking as it sounds?

You're welcome.

I got really familiar with this last night, and watching her for the full animation really does make it obvious; first time doing shiva EX without voice comms/somebody dictating everything.

Also no A marker so I was so busy tracking Shiva I kept getting turned around and murdering the healers. So I was really proud of my situational awareness for about five seconds before people started dying.

Battle gear turns into battle materia/primary stat materia/elemental resist materia. DoM and DoW have slightly different pools with overlap (tank gear won't get you piety, for example). Crafter gear turns into crafter materia, gathered into gatherer. Big bucks is generally in the Det IV battle stuff, but crafting/gathering has less junk materia.

The affix trophy I just got over time, I think, volunteering free melds when people ask. I guess you could buy a ton of junk materia and go to town.

I also got the pentameld achievment by sticking junk materia on a cowl; cowls have 4 slots so it cuts down on over melding.

Crafting gear gives crafting materias only, gathering gear gathering materias only, combat gear is a bit of every combat stats, though caster gear gives spellspeed and melee gear skillspeed and tank gear is weighted a bit heavier on the parry stuff(but you can get those on normal gear too, or at least str jewelry, not sure for the rest).

As for affixing 100materias, buy a bunch of crappy materias like resist ones, they're like 500-1000each, or just bind a bunch of lowbie gear you buy from a vendor and get materias like that(need to fight mobs within 10levels of the gear ilvl, so if you buy lvl 5gear, farm in a lowbie zone). Then go to Mutamix in Central Than, affix 5materias with whatever crafting you have that can do it on a low lvl piece of gear(you'd need like lvl 5 leatherworker to affix on a piece of leather), then talk to him to get them removed. Use a 2slots piece like chest or whatever, and rinse repeat. Or a 4slot cowl as iammeiam said.

well obviously the main thing is to keep aggro on the mobs. With pld, early on, flash is your friend. Spam it on every pull so you can keep hate. Overpower with mrd. These help when you pull more than one mob b/c dps may not always attack the same mob you attack. A good thing to do as well is put up the icons(1,2,3) so everybody knows what to focus. Try and lead off with a tomahawk or shield lob. Do you know about the aggro bars in the party list?

Defensive rotations kind of change per boss fight you do, but just as a basic rule never pop them all at once. Kind of want to rotate between all your cooldowns if you get what I mean.

In my mind, the most important thing in the beginning is to make sure you are able to keep hate on pulls, bosses don't usually hit that hard until brayflox/qarn.

Also, more than any other classes you'll want to keep yourself in up to date gear. Especially your weapon. Also tip if you're a controller player R2/RT + R1/RB or L1/LB scrolls through your enmity list only. Very useful for tanks.

Huh, don't think I've tried that, may do so later on. I usually just turn the filter (above your HP) to enemy only and scroll through it like that.

There isn't a way to carry two FC's in the game?

Couple college friends have got back into it and just found out I started last month, wasn't sure if I could join their FC as well, but everything I have found so far says I can't.

You can't join 2 FCs no, unless you make an alt I guess. Best off starting a linkshell.

Managed to take down Turns 10, 11, and 12 before the reset. The fights are all pretty awesome. You guys are in for a MAJOR treat post turn 12 :D

Also anyone know if NQ forager's gear desynths into worthwhile stuff a la NQ artisan tools? I doubt anyone will actually pay for my NQ slops.

NQ slops can reach the same stat caps as HQ slops. You just need higher tier materia.

In other news, I deleted about 6 names from my hunt invite macro. I have space for some new names if you ask.

Wait, what? I thought you could meld the same bonus stats on to HQ/NQ, but were limited by the base stats and I didn't want to eat a 4 gathering loss.

What do I meld in what order so you won't yell.

Going all in on that crafted body piece today since mine doesn't drop until Turn 13... thanks Yoshi-P.

I laughed at it and yet now I see why it has value to it. No way is the 120 poetic chest better than the crafted one(with melded acc) considering you lose all that crit and det in place of worthless SS.

Pretty much how I saw it. Not to mention it'd be a waste of 825 tomes better spent on the mask, gloves and boots for now.

I'm hoping we'll get 13 down this week so I'm holding off for the Dreadwyrm chest :<

Already bought & upgraded the ring

Since the only difference between HQ and NQ is the 4 gathering, you just add 4 gathering to your melds.

Gathering+5
Gathering+5
GP+3 (Use a GP+4 if you don't mind spending the gil and forget the +1 at the end)
Perception+1
GP+1

Well, I should be able to grab the Ironworks Fending bodypiece before the day is through. Not exactly the sexiest of armor pieces, but a solid upgrade over my Noct Lorica.

....plus, it's not as if I'll be getting the Dreadwyrm bodypiece anytime soon. :p

PS: Yes I know, I could go crafted. However, even if I was able to farm up all the components necessary to make an HQ Crafted bodypiece, and even if I was able to find somebody to make it for me, I don't think I'd be able to afford the Materia needed to make it a worthwhile endeavor.

And don't even think of asking me to spirit-bind it all. Spirit Binding for the occasional Det4 is one thing, spirit binding for six or so very specific pieces however would take far more time. :p

Thanks. I haven't checked the market lately but I don't remember Guerdon IIIs being too bad. Provided the pants are still there I'll just do that. I probably need to do the math to figure out if HQ mats for the shoes/gloves even makes sense, or if it's be better to just expect NQ.

To clarify an earlier statement. I'm one of those gil-strapped types, that can only afford to spiritbind 45-50 pieces. So in addition to needing RNG to get the right type, I also need to lean on RNG a lot to get the right tier. That is entirely too much RNG.

I'm considering leveling goldsmith next, so I can craft up my own SB jewelry, but I fear by the time I did that, it'd be so late in the game that there'd be little benefit to it. Well, might be a benefit to it in the expansion.

Something close to that, I'd have to buy a lot of materials though. :p

Depending on the material, if you can HQ things then you can break even make a minor profit on the return. I doubt anyone's going to be breaking even with current mat prices due to the naruto boom though.

I'm trying to hold off on this and try to make a poverty set with the Ironworks chest instead.

Doesn't seem like you can get much mileage out of that chest though. There's no way you're popping a sand on it during progression so it's forever i120 and at that point, the crit/DET of Auroral might outweigh it? Reminds me of Wyrm vs unweathered Astrum.

I think I'll finish getting a few more crafting classes to 20 first. Having full access to all the cross class skills should be leveling any single crafting class, far less annoying.

Doing penta-melded gear is such a waste if you aren't doing FCoB right now.

Unless you're in a bad group full of selfish players, no way tanks and healers will get the carbontwine for a while. Those are for DPS.

We'll be starting Turn 12 soon enough so that's the reason I'm getting some.
