That would be fantastic. There are fates in both zones that don't level sync me.

Please...please no more evil grinding atmas of doom

Also I probably have to do GATEs anyways because you can get a .01% drop for minfillia cards

Anywho, after healing T10 as Scholar and White Mage, I'd much rather just assume the bulk of the healing duties as WHM and just have the SCH dps and assist with preys if need be.

Our group found that going 2 scholars works well. One does preys, the other pushes dps.

Not as bad as you could have. You only get one item per week and you're going to want the whole set eventually, so if you got a usable drop you did good. I didn't know about the 1 item per week policy and greed rolled on a monk belt my first week. OOPS. :D

It's still a relatively meh piece so more of a case of there's not much reason to take bad loot unless you just flat out don't plan to run it ever again that week. Not a big deal really, oh well etc. etc. Chest will drop again eventually.

Just in case you're unaware, you can only get one item but you can run it an infinite amount of times to try and get a drop. In the event of a full pre-made group, you can just not open chests until the end so you don't have to choose early in the run on whether or not you want an item or not.

Well, my plate is i100, while my gloves were i50. I dont really feel that bitter. My RNG tends to be pretty good, sooo...

Presumably the feeding stuff theyre talking about will be locked behind gardening again? Seems an odd choice to gate stuff behind something only a relatively small potential of the player base has access to. Theres a lot more people who are going to be interested in chocobo racing and breeding than could have access to gardening. Though maybe with the expansion close it wont be an issue as they'll presumably (ha) be adding more plots

It's possible, but not necessary. Could be the existing foods(though obviously that'd make the prices skyrocket for a while), could be vendor bought foods(money sink would make sense right before the expansion), could just be the action of pressing Feed and having the chocobo on cooldown for X hours without anything consumed.

I am clearing my garden before the patch though in case of, but at this point it's just conjectures.

Hardly gospel but theres a comment on this reddit post that says the most recent live letter confirmed its from gardening - http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2wlpna/viva_gold_saucer_part_1_final_fantasy_xiv/ I'm hoping its wrong and as you mentioned its a pre-expansion vendor moneysink myself

I gave up on the relic at Zenith level.

I don't want to grind fates.

I got the ilvl 110 Soldiery weapon with the tomestone upgrade instead. I'll be doing the same with my WHM until I can get better stuff, maybe that that Shiva weapon if I ever get past Titan EX.

don't need to do titan/garuda/ifrit ex to do leviathan or shiva ex

edit: I guess I was wrong. I was probably thinking of just leviathan extreme

No you're right, Garuda/Titan/Ifrit Ex are off in their own little progression chain, the others have their own chain Mog Ex/Levi Ex/Ramuh Ex/Shiva Ex

http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Thornmarch_%28Extreme%29.

Edit: Seems you may be able to do Mog Ex and Levi Ex in any order (wish I'd known that) but you definitely have to have both done for Ramuh Ex and you definitely dont have to have Garuda/Ifrit/Titan Ex down

Our group needs a replacement DPS for T12 for Saturday evening. We would like someone that doesn't have a T12 clear for the week. We are replacing a BLM so a BLM or SMN replacement would be ideal, but hey we aren't going to be nitpicky.
Well, I'm available if you don't mind one chest.

If you're around tonight, let's do it. Friday night is ex primal time. I'll be on from around 9:00 eastern until I pass out from drinking too much (Tomo Takino).

Missed this, but appreciate the spirit of the offer all the same! Thanks! Will try to roll with a GAF group sometime soon.

I spent the last three days crafting and gathering. I thought they were boring, but I can't stop. The only other thing I did was queue for Low Level Roulette to get my DRG to 34 and get B4B. I'm done with that now, so full crafting D: Please help.

And I know I should be focusing on CUL, but I just can't see my characters without full HQ stuff, so I end up leveling the other classes to craft things...

Can any expert gatherers tell me if 600 GP is still the optimal amount (price of melding being considered as well) or do you go for more these days?

Anyone that finished the zodiac weapon (relic) able to help me/give some tips about farming the stuff/answer a few questions?

I'm travelling, so I can't log in to ask my FC mates =D

I'm working on the 9 books to upgrade my Relic, atm i'm at the 2nd book... (Black Mage).

Is it really worth the time, to get this weapon to ilvl 125?

I read the whole guide, and it looks like a hell on earth to finish the zodiac weapon, specially the lights and alexandrite part...

Also, what's that craft part with the 8 items 3 stars stuff?

I can play around 3 hours on weekdays and 8 on weekends, but looks like it'll be so expensive to finish it =/

If anyone can help me, I'd love to ask some stuff, so if we can chat on skype it'd be great =D

Semi-pro gatherer here. I can't see why you'd want any more than 600 at the moment. Going over is probably good, but you'd likely wanna aim for 700+ if you were gonna go for more. Seems to be either impossible or a waste of money. One of those. Maybe someone else will have a differing opinion. Dunno much about the newest nodes, but I doubt much has changed.

It depends on if you really want to give your life for this weapon. After Tuesday it'll be possible to get the weapon higher than 125, probably. People are assuming it'll make the jump to 135. If so, the answer is always going to be yes, HOWEVER, it can be a huge time sink. Many people won't think the investment is worth it, so it really comes down to individual preference of how you'd want to spend your time.

The steps coming after the books aren't too bad depending on how hard you wanna go after them. You can take a slow, casual approach and still get it done if you remember to do so. The crafting step comes during the upgrade from Nexus to Zodiac (the current highest step). They're rather easy for people to craft and the mats aren't very expensive, I don't think.

It's really not that big of a deal. There are other ways to get good enough weapons in the meantime while you work on your relic. Or you can abandon it and use Shiva weapon (110 - 115 with upgrade) or Ironworks (120-130) which are fine replacements if you don't wanna grind the relic. Relic, however, will always be the best weapon available, as far as I see it.

I have 633 right now, which lets me hit 650 with cheap vendor food. The key thing is that I don't use toil.

So I hit a node, then waste a swing on the slot I want. This makes the item available.

Then: Yield II skill (500 GP) to give me two more items per swing, Gathring Success 1 skill that usually bumps me from 95 to 100 (50 GP), HQ chance rank 1 skill to bump HQ chance (100 GP.)

It's not optimal if you want guaranteed HQs, but I like it because I end up with more of the item and if RNG gives me an HQ I get multiple I can sell. Since I can HQ craft most day-to-day stuff off NQ mats, this works for me.

You can do the same thing without the HQ bump at 550 GP, but where's the fun in that?

What seems to be the preferred Ruin for Scholars? Ruin or Ruin II? I've always used Ruin but the Sch in my static swears by Ruin II. I don't really understand why someone would choose Ruin II over Ruin as their 'standard' Ruin, given that it costs much more MP for no potency difference. Seems like a waste of MP? Specifically asking about general use, not just situational 'gotta move now byeeeee' times.

I use both. I get all dots up then use Ruin I when I have time. Also reapplying all of them during movements (ie while moving for gas in T12 is nice with the inst cast dot then Ruin and non insta in between.

But yeah, if I have the time and all dots are on and still ticking I chain Ruin I.
It depends on the fight and the situation. I don't think you could say one or the other is the default.

In terms of working up the crafting ladder, to get from 1 star to 2 star crafting you presumably meld HQ versions of your AF gear? Or do you just risk it on HT/TotT until you get enough tokens to start getting artisan gear?

Gah, group making decent progress on T10 and now I can't raid because I have to be on standby because of the snowstorm passing through town, just my luck.

For GP and gathering, imo there's only 2ways, the way iammeiam described which is to get over 600 and enough to get 650 with relatively cheap NQ food, which gives the optimal rotation, or to aim for 600ish, which because of the GP per hit means you can go as low as 585(or even lower if you want to use food, but at that point you're probably going to lose money due to how cheap 585 is versus food price).

With 585, you can do King's Yield+small gathering buff(550, need 650 for the bigger gathering or quality so 600 makes no difference) for stuff you want in large NQ quantities, you can do max gathering max HQ for 550GP for hard stuff you want in HQ(like 2star if you have garbage stats like me) and the important one that "requires 600", you can skip the toil and use +1 hit instead, which is the same cost for the same effect, you hit once to reveal, then 300GP to max quality, then pick 3times(you have 4tries at 95% ish), then use +1 hit since you get +15GP from those 3times, and it's the same result as toil+quality. Once in a blue moon you will miss twice though, in which case it's worse, I think when I was farming HQ umbral rocks for the forager weap x2+helm x3 for retainers, it happened once the entire time.

The only advantage of 600 is you can use Toil if you're going to gather from more than one slot but still need HQ and it gives you a very very slightly more reliable way to get the HQ+1hit combo thing. That's like if you want to do Umbral but also get Shroud soil at the same time, but imo not worth it versus getting done with your umbral crap faster, it's only 5ish k. 585 is basically good enough for the first tier of HQ forager stuff and for gathering 2star. If you want to go higher, you'll most likely want to aim for 650 instead.
