Trials seem pretty stingy with cards it seems, my luck with dungeons has been far better than the short trials. I have run Mog HM so many times for light and I haven't seen a single card.

Man, the Zodiac stage of the relic chain really is just dungeon Atma. I just started running dungeons for drops today and I already hate it. I don't know how any of y'all did this...

Key is, like the original Atma stage, just mix it up constantly. Don't grind same dungeon constantly otherwise it'll drive you crazy.

It only sucked for me due to a single dungeon taking 41 runs. Luckily I was able to get through most dungeons before the i110 cap was introduced. That will make a lot of dungeons suck. Sure, still way overgeared, but running those dungeons at i120+ was nice.

Oh, I am. I queue for all the dungeons I need crap from in-progress in my duty finder and whichever pops is the one I run. It's just these pure bloody RNG steps I hate. Atma was exactly the same way back.

It's been a while but I'm thinking of jumping back in. Wish me luck. I don't even remember the controls anymore and I'll have to relearn my powers.

Is it possible to queue up to make more than one item at a time for crafting? Kind of annoying to have to go back and hit synthesize each time you want to make an item.

Yes, you can do quick synthesis after you've made the item once, allows you to make a bunch of the same item. It wears down your gear faster and it's rng based whether you get hq or not but it's handy for when you need to make a lot of some mats and don't care if it's hq or not.

just be lucky. it's an enjoyable step since you can go in as any class. next one is even easier. currently doing the last stage casually. 40% left.

I'm a fairly new 50 just getting started on crafting and wanted to make sure I have this right. Does the progression go like this?

1) Fresh 50 crafter (in my case, GSM and LW so far)
2) Get HQ class gear for 1 class however possible and max materia meld it
3) Get the HQ universal slot items (ring, neck, etc) and meld them
4) Get enough cross class skills to start HQing master 1 book turn in (rose gold ingot for GSM)
5) Get enough cross class skills to start HQing artisan gear token item (rose gold cog)
6) Make enough tokens to eventually replace my class gear with artisan token gear
7) Eventually farm enough ehcatl sealants to get other people to make me crafted HQ artisan gear

Where in there do I go for Supra and Lucis tools? Should I basically pause all progression and get every class to 15 or 50 first before even bothering with any of this? Is it better to get culinary to 50 asap and use it make all the token turnins? I know people use CUL to farm artisan glasses for desynthing, so is that the way to go for all the other token items too?

Don't max meld AF(the 55 crafted armor), just meld it enough to have the stats you want. Max meld jewelry/belt because you should be getting the endgame ones right away(rings and bracers are cheap, earring/neck/belt aren't super expensive). Craft a ton of tokens, get the artisan turn in set. Then you either farm a ton more to get full crafted artisan, or you just get a lucis and don't bother with the crafted artisan other than the offhand. You have enough with partial/no meld in the offhand+lucis+token artisan+jewelry/belt max melded to do 4star, so no real point in getting full artisan.

You probably want to level the crafting classes before you start actually trying to craft anything higher than 1star though. You don't need everything at 50, but you want the essentials, CUL 37, WVR 50, ALC 50, CRP 50 then for 3star and higher you also want ARM 50. BSM 50 is pretty useful for a bunch of stuff including 1-2star crafts and low craftsmanship 3-4star 5steps progress. Rest is fairly useless but might as well get them all to 50 eventually for repairing(GSM especially) and because why not really.

What's the best/easiest way to farm gil?
Not from instance/raid/crafting. I guess it's from hunt?

Hunts don't give money(well not a noticeable amount). The best way is spiritbinding. Buy gear(either from a vendor or the market, or craft it yourself for the lowest cost), equip, then kill garbage mobs within the level range of the gear until it spiritbinds to full, then break it down into materias. There's generally groups in PF doing spiritbinding in Urth's Gift(lots of water elems, get a lot of crystals doing it and the mobs spawn quickly and in large numbers). Gathering, crafting, playing the market, using ventures efficiently are all ways to gain money otherwise but involve specific activities, spiritbinding has very little preparation required other than having a combat class leveled high enough to bind the gear you want. Even lower materias are worth decent money so it's doable even at low level if you want.

Oh and ehcatl sealants everyday from Ixal daillies too, forgot about that.

Been trying to DF Titan EX for a couple of days now... Let's just say that those real European servers can't come soon enough. Avoiding all of his AoE is basically impossible.

Spiritbinding? How did I miss that?
Urth's Gift? I'll give it a try then, many thanks!

Right there with ya buddy. Just started my zodiac step yesterday. 10-15 dungeons in and haven't seen jack nor shit. Queuing as paladin so I get fast queues and can dictate the pace of the dungeon run makes them less painful, but this is still easily the worst thing I've done in my time playing this game. Maybe the worst thing I've ever done in any game.

So I've discovered the secret to getting alex to drop from FATEs is to lose all hope and drone myself on in a semi-conscious state of misery for hours on end.

5 in 4 hours. Not bad.

Have you tried hunting? A single A-train lasts 4 hours and you get enough seals and soldiery to get 4 Alex per (3 via seals and 1 via soldiery map purchase). I was able to blaze thru my Alex step doing almost nothing but hunting, and this was when hunts were ludicrous. They are super duper tame now but still active. That's reliable alex too, you don't even need to pray to RNGsus.

5 in 4 hours is pretty bad. I think I got maybe 15-17 alex from Fates as the rest came from maps and hunts. Had to delay acquiring the last Elite set piece for it, grrr.

Seconding this, don't even bother with fates for alex. Hunts have no RNG and are faster. Also you get soldiery from them which you can turn in for even more alex maps. Win win.

Ugh I don't know what's up with it but while I like Amdapor Keep HM, that last boss battle wreaks havoc with my eyes...all the red makes it tough to see anything...=(

I'm looking to get back into this after only playing a bit at launch.

I played (and enjoyed) a rogue in FFXI, are they any good here? How about ninjas? Seems like they'd be a popular class.

Otherwise, I think Arcanist / 学者 looks appealing until the new Astrologers(?) come out?

Hmmm, maybe I should just wait until I can reroll as an Au Ra.

Is this a pretty casual, farily solo-friendly game? I have a 2 1/2 month old who may call me away at pretty much any time...

Also you can do FATEs in between hunt spawns (which is how I got my 4 or 5 random alex from FATEs during that step), so it's a win/win. You're never not potentially getting alex!

You're not a test case though, your relic luck is off the chain. It you as many runs to complete your zodiac as I did of Haukke Manor HM for 1 drop.

Off the chain is it, I remember doing 80+ fates with no alex in a row.

Any tips on where someone new to Triple Triad should play their very first game outside of the Gold Saucer? Everyone I take on has much better cards than mine.

Memeroon Upper La Noscea (14, 24) and Mother Miounne New Gridania (11, 13) were pretty easy for me. they have worse AI.

So far it hasn't been the AI, but rather the high-quality cards that everyone nut me has at least one of. In FF8 you could turn enemies to cards, and use your one really good early-obtained card (Ifrit) to win some matches, but I feel like my default cards are

I like some of these exotic new rules, though! Having to play the cards in the order they are dealt... that would never have occurred to me if I were designing new wrinkles!

For Ultros players: Team Sly Cooper Fan Club is looking for a replacement WHM for Turns 10-12 this week as our current one is attacked by lax US labour laws. Looking to go either tonight, Wednesday or Thursday at around 7-8 EST. Experience required!
