Why not have both?

I like WoW more then this, to bad there is no WoW on the PS4 :p

Probably because I'm not in a FC or any Linkshells, but the game is very, very quiet. I'll see a bunch of people around, but nobody talking or anything. It gets lonely/boring very quick. :/

Hey man, I don't know if you looked at the ranking board before the morning. King Elmer won the last tournament. It wouldn't be fair if we didn't let him compete. He probably win farmed that 3 diamonds NPC though. They seem tight.

But if the most points come against people that already have a lot of tournament wins, wouldn't that work out in the end? Unless you can orchestrate a carefully tiered win trading network.

With only a 15 match cap, it doesn't really require a ton of careful orchestration. Still annoying but let's be real, of the Internet can abuse the system, it will be abused.

It'd probably be worthwhile to join one of GAF's FCs if you're feeling lonely. I did a world transfer for the same reason; pricey, but ultimately worth it. You don't sound like you're too far along, so just make a new character on Ultros or one of the others in the OP.

I came from WoW to this. WoW is a great package, but aside from the poor PvP design, there are few things ARR doesn't do as good or better. Plus, it definitely felt like WoW was balanced in favor of people who have been playing longer, and I was only about lvl 65, you could see how I would feel out of place
fuck looms
.

Sidenote, my free period is wrapping up and I just set up for a 180 day renewal for those mounts and minions, plus I upgraded to the digital collectors. I'm in deep guys.

I'm already on Ultros, level 28 archer named Harvey Specter.

Squenix had literally no idea what they were doing with TT tournament, what a shock. After all, everything else they do is well thought-out in advance.

I should have just gotten 15 people to job for me so I could get the Lightning card and then throw it away in public because Lightning sucks.

Oh, awesome then. You should submit an application here and just look up or find one of us in game (our FC tag is GAF), right-click on us > Company Profile, then submit an application through there. The GAF FC on Ultros is really active and it's filled with really helpful people, I think it'll fix your loneliness issue right up if I do say so myself. :)

This, this is magical.

It completely sucks that Firion, Cecil, Tidus, and Lightning cards are from a broken tournament format. Have the developers ever played a competitive online game before with a rating system?!?! Even World of Warcraft has a history of calculating ratings via Elo or TrueSkill. Where are my statistics text books from university so I can bang my head against them due to this crap?

Not sure, but it seems to affect the amount of speed lost from changing lanes. My play style is all about debuffing the leaders and catching up at the second half with that cunning and acceleration.

Fair, I stick to the front and stand in front of the guy trying to pass me because I'm a troll.

Reddit post said:
Did some testing with friends. My Boco currently has the highest cunning of the 5 of us (40) with the lowest of us at a whopping 12. What we noticed...

1) Reduces slowdown when changing lanes. 2) Chocobo actually "paths" the turns a bit better. He slows down less on turns and also seems to kinda start turning before hand, taking the turn itself a bit tighter. Still stays in his lane though. 3) My Chocobo seems to recover from "Lathered" a lot faster than my friend at 12. Not sure if it's server lag but seemed consistent.

4) The one big thing we noticed is if we tried to move into the same lane at the same time (from opposite directions), the higher cunning chocobo wins. Every time. Lag be damned. In fact, you'll sometimes end up shoving them directly behind you instead of just "bumping"

5) Needed more testing but seeing how lag works and the RNG of it all it's tough. BUT Briars - High cunning seemed to make briars tick for less or straight up tick less times. I have the same Stamina stat as my friend's boco (both 24). We were both at almost dead on 85% Stamina when our third friend briar'd us both (both of us about dead even on either side of him, give or take a bit from lag). When briar's finished, he was sitting at closer to 50% stamina, I was still at almost 68%. Again, we didn't really fully test this one out as we were kinda tired and running out of time, but... Could be it makes your Chocobo more "clever" in avoiding the Briars?

6) Finally, and it was minimal, but the course Pads seemed to be more effective with the higher cunning. My "Sprint" from the pad seemed to last almost a full half second to a second longer than my friend with the minimal cunning. Might have something to do with that with "course navigation?"

Still, all of that needs more testing. And even if it's all 100% confirmed, cunning still seems to be a relatively weak stat.

I don't have much difficulty moving to either side and passing a guy if I have enough stamina. Regardless, my goal of breeding is to gain stars and not lose any. The achievement requires 17 stars at pedigree 9. It will be harder to get to 17 stars if you lose stars on the way.

I'm still a scrub on my first chocobo. Once I have all non-bullshit tournament cards I'm sure I'll take it more seriously.

You don't really have to worry about accuracy if you aren't doing Coil. Some of the trials have some semblance of an accuracy cap but if you aren't doing Coil, you can grab anything you want.

Yeah I just checked the reddit thread and it seems I don't need to worry too much. That's good to know, thanks for the advice.

I wish I was fluent in Japanese to read the complaints about the tournament format that are on the official JP forums.

They seem to be mostly complaining that you can fight NPCs.
That's not really the main complaint at all, just one version of the same complaint NA players have. The NPC aspect of the complaint is someone can farm NPCs for high points, then lose on purpose in exchange for gil. The buyer would then easily get very high rank. But there are other posts in the thread about the same sort of collusion, whether that be between players/fcs or someone with multiple accounts/alts.

The sentiment is pretty much identical to the English ones, this tournament system is poorly thought out and there needs to be a random matchmaking system or something to fix this.

This, this is magical.

I'm still on my first one, a few ranks away from my first breeding attempt. I'm just learning from the derpy descendants of others to figure out my long-term breeding plan.

The free login week has got me back in and I picked up my Archer again. I was in the GAF FC on Ultros back around launch but have probably been kicked due to inactivity. Any chance someone could throw me an invite please? Character name is Dana Vas.

Ta :)

I don't believe you. Japan is a magical land where honour rules. Square Enix wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like that!

Says I don't have permission to view the page. Maybe it's because I registered on the site around ARR's launch? I had the game preordered, but I never had the time to get into it. Now, though, my university's TAs and contract faculty have gone on strike so all classes, labs, tutorials etc. are cancelled until who knows when. I's gots all the time in the world right now.

Na seems it's broken I'm getting the same thing. Can just apply ingame and someone will invite you later on probably anyway then you can explain the site isn't working.

Got my squall card and that's it I now quit TT. I can't be bothered deal with crappy AI who not affected by rules or just shitty drop rate. They managed turn TT from a fun mini game to a test of patience.

Now I begin the next patient grind Atma or maybe just go for Ironworks equipment instead

So someone asked me to perhaps fill in as SMN for T10-12 and while I know how to play it, I have not raided as SMN since the days of first Coil, any tips?

Tell them that they need to prove that they're worth a shit and care to get things done, rather than you focusing on working on yet another class that won't see much Coil because the group falls apart before downing anything.
