You guys got a favorite Zeta design? PLD and BRD look amazing to me. I don't like the Monk Zeta design, it doesn't look as powerful or unique as the Nexus Sphairai.

BRD is a travesty. I don't mind the Zeta aspects of PLD (glow is fine), but the Zodiac shield is way, way too busy.

For the most part Zeta is fairly inoffensive, setting aside the mess they made of Yoichi.

I think the BRD one would look better without the circle in the front. I actually like the DRG one quite a lot.

You and your misplaced hatred of the superior race.

Fantasia bet.

Let's go.

No.

I know your trying to find an excuse to switch out of lala again but I won't even take a chance of being stuck as a midget.

if these are the MNK zeta claws I want them so bad

6yGHRdX.jpg

they look way cooler than the jam jars

I guess I prefer it to be a little more minimalist. Ragnarok Zeta looks amazing to me. Nirvana Zeta is a huge improvement over the original though.

I love the Ragnarok Axe and Nirvana Zetas, they definitely got the best glow effects. Yoichi Bow isn't that bad but I preferred the normal model for sure.

Actually I prefer the normal model on most of the Zodiac weapons...

That's what I love about it, that little circle, it's like a signature for Zetas (minus MNK).

PLD, DRG, SCH, BRD.

Oh yeah SCH looks great too. DRG looks like a BLM staff to me.

!!!

I have the PLD one and I actually don't like it. D:

Here's to hoping that we get glamour versions of the previous steps - I'd rather have Nexus for some things instead of the Zeta.

All I know is, last ones I did the Lala went back. The cat took their freedom from catdom and ran with it.

I consider permanently decreasing the cat population of the game a kind of public service, and if I have to risk a couple of weeks as a monster to do it, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Plus I need an excuse to reglamour again.

A friend of mine is looking to start playing again and send me a recruit a friend. I'm debating wich class to play, mostly between Dragoon, Monk and Scholar. Is it like other MMO and there's too many DPS and not enough tank/healer ? Looking to possibly raid if I end up liking the game even if it's far far away.

Any recommendation ? He's playing on the server Hyperion if anybody in here plays there.

Generally there's always more DPS than healers and tanks but in raid situations good players of all classes can find a place.

I think Nirvana's the best, and the Longinus is a close second. I have a Lilith Rod Zeta myself, and I think the glow certainly helps a lot, but it was never one of the most attractive weapons.

27/75 Alex now. Did a lot of hunts this morning which was fun. Should easily get my Novus by Monday depending on how lazy I get lol.

Hunts are rather pleasant when going from one to another with the same group lol. (Plus it not being prime time helps lol)

Excalibur and Nirvana are near top, followed by the two books.

Longinus is right near the bottom.

That is not a spear Square, that is a Black Mage staff that got very confused.

I love the Longinus when its dyed a nice blue, like ink blue or even the metallic blue, but most of the Zodiac spears are dyed metallic green or silver and it drives me nuts.

You can still stab with it, what's the problem?

Figured as much. Thanks for answering. How's leveling as an healer if I decide to go scholar ?

Well you can't even become a scholar till you're 30 at arcanist, before that point you're a DPS. Then leveling is fairly easy because you get a pet that helps you heal.

When I eventually get my Longinus, I'll dye it a blue of some sort. :D love Blue.

Well up to 9 zodiac drop now. So far my one shots are: Aurum Vale, Brayflox Hard and Copperbell Mines Hard. AK's currently being stingy atm but got the Labor of Love part of the Zodiac quest done.

Nearly there. AK held out on me for awhile too but thank god that is a fast dungeon to run.

I've heard wait times are terrible for DPS to get onto a dungeon - that's randomly selected though. If you find a good FC, it shouldn't be that bad.

Also FFXIV does a good job for instances. There's a Duty Roulette where you can get bonuses for doing low/high level dungeons and being an Adventure in Need which changes to Tank or Healer whenever in short supply.

Actually hunts are pretty ok all the time now cause a lot of people stopped once poverty twine came to ST.

I always had fun with hunts, bouncing around from zone to zone looking for marks is a good time. This game needs more open world content.

I can't tell if the Longinus makes different sound effects when attacking, or if I just have my SFX turned up higher than usual. Do the other Zodiacs have different sound effects, or am I nuts?

My Lilith road sounds the same as any of my other weapons. I would assume the sounds of magic channeling through something sounds the same regardless of whether I'm using the greatest staff in existence or a taco.

Yeah, but taco heals taste better than normal ones.

Yeah that's what I have been doing. My accuracy is at 501 at the moment, my gear is a mix of WoD, ironworks and evenstar, but I'm not doing Coil so anything around that accuracy should be plenty, right?

It seems that 470 is the accuracy required for T9/Shiva for BLM so you are all set there. Replacing the Evenstar with Ironworks will give you a big boost since you can go all the way up to level 130. Deciding the final mix, though, is up to you. And that's where all the fun is. :)

I wish. I remember the Artemis Bow in 1.0 made a really cool fire sound whenever you used an auto attack.

So when I was doing ST yesterday for lights and twine, there was a healer in my party that got hit by Amon's ice, but he was able to move and skate around while in the ice.

I tried so hard to get Gifcam running.

One day I'll actually beat Mog EX and then I'll finally be able to put that accuracy to good use. One day...

So I did a little googling and it turns out I'm not crazy, there are new sound effects for Longinus. Apparently (some of?) the WoD weapons have new sound effects when you draw them, too.

Just to comment on something earlier. The Longinus does indeed look like a pointy mage's staff. The Longinus Zeta however, looks considerably better. The glow effect they used, simultaneously makes it look like there's an energy blade in the middle of all those twisting spires, and also creates a sort of spiraling energy pattern.

It's overall quite nice. Though an actual blade in the middle would've been better.

Nvidia Titan X announced today. 12 GB VRAM, over 8 billion transistors, and presumably won't throw 6-way landslides at me while I try to play games on it. Is $1400 too steep for 4K FFXIV? Who knows, Squenix needs to fix the awful UI scaling in the game before 4K resolution will be playable in FFXIV at any framerate.

To add on to this, a lot of the weapons in their Zeta forms actually look like complete weapons. Longinus becomes a spear, Kaiser Knuckles gain their claws, Yoichi Bow gains a Gundam reticle, etc.

This does beg the question though ... what the hell were the original Zodiac Braves fighting with all these beam weapons? Are all the dragons in Ishgard mechas?
