Gadzooks, it's at like two dozen pages right now. Supposedly there's a thread of the Japanese forums that is something like 70+ pages. Looooot of frustrated Dragoons out there is seems. <_<;;
It's kinda hilarious reading through the thread and seeing so many comments that are basically identical to things people said about WARs in 2.0.

I don't know what is worse; the people who have never/barely played the class telling those that have to learn to play or the people who have played the class but are too prideful to admit there could be a problem with it.

They just don't bring any utility to a raid while Ninja and Monk both and do and pull equal if not better numbers.

I admit there is problems with it but I'm too busy enjoying the class to be bothered by it
while secretly praying for a bigger buff in the next patch. And not just to the jumps :(

Ugh 10$ for a Name change! Atleast give us the first one free damnit. I purchased Vanilla XIV CE and have been a subscriber since day 1 and I still have to pay 10$ for a name change lol.

i have a dude in my fc that changes his race every week. now hes going to change his name ever other week.

thanks for making this game even shittier, SE.

Realistically, either tank works for the Cube. I can solo DPS (as SMN) the Cube while full DoTs on the Sphere so it's easier for me to DPS both than it is for a BLM to switch between the two constantly. BLM does less damage but are able to tunnel the entire phase.

Could always have both casters go on the Cube and tell your physical DPS to git gud.

We (BRD, DRG, SMN) already have trouble keeping up with our BLM's dps on the cube as it is. I doubt assigning both casters to it would be wise. Heh.

We managed to get the HA daggers from T9 yesterday, so I guess we're moving ahead with the plan of having our SMN go NIN instead.

Thanks for the tips though. Will try implementing them if she ever wants to switch back.

There has been a problem with it for a while, but only now that there is a third melee dps class is it super noticeable. Any raiding DRG knew that MNK had them beat but could deal with that. Parties still had a limited pool of classes to pull from and having a second person that could single target limit was a good thing.

A fix that isn't just changing percentages around is something that I've been suggesting since beta. Change Power Surge from a cooldown that buffs another cooldown to some sort of stance/aura thing. That stance/aura could be anything, chance to reset cooldown on jump, flat damage increase, faster attacks, or even slower more damaging attacks. Whatever. Would also free up another keybind in a toolbox that is already overflowing.

I haven't gotten desperate enough to stick my whm/BRD sold stuff on yet; I'm hovering around i80 but it's just a ridiculously disjointed mess of gear. AF head/hands/feet, unweathered sold body/legs/choker, weathered earrings, Shiva bracelet, Gladiator's Ring/Master Gladiator's Ring, Shiva sword, i95 Levi shield.

I'll probably wind up picking up another sold piece (probably gloves since I can hide helm and already glamoured feet, so I can swap out and glamour over gloves) and calling it good; I originally thought I'd save sold for relic then realized I'd have to tank AK if I wanted to do relic so nahhhhhh.

Ah yeah, I was talking about my shiny new Ninja. So having those DEX accessories made it a LOT easier to increase my iLvl. That plus Syrcus unlocking/no sold weekly cap should have me close to ilvl110 by next week...

T11 for encrypted tomestones.

Damn....I should really get started on Coil ASAP huh. Want to at least get the new expert roulette unlocked before the weekend, so maybe this weekend I will
finally start.

Do you have a static and T9 cleared? It's not like you can just queue up for Final Coil.

Nope. When I say get started on Coil, I mean get started from the beginning. lol

I have been so busy doing the story and leveling alts that it hasn't been a priority.
Now that I have settled on a main I want to start working on it.

I guess we are talking about Assassinate?

The range is so shit I wouldn't even consider it a jumping attack honestly. Definitely not comparable to DRG stuff.

I mean, regardless of range, you literally jump on an enemies head. Plus it's just as likely to get your dumb ass killed (yes I have died because of doing Assassinate :( )

Yeah, but you really have to be right next to the enemy for it to activate.
It's really more of a hop than a jump. :p

JPN dev post confirming DRG buffs coming.

We'll probably get an official translation at some point on english side of forums, but all it says is that they are thankful for the feedback and are currently considering ways to strengthen DRG. They don't have a time frame nor do they give any buff specifics.
please be excited

Saw that, assuming it indeed happens I'm rather grateful. I may not play the class a lot in comparison to Warrior, but I'd still hate to give up on it.

Rather hoping the buff involves something other than a straight potency increase, that'd be kinda boring. XD

Speculation/wish list time:
- ability to equip caster armour for magic defence
- Enhanced Fracture trait
- Jump damage buffed and effects made more like classic Final Fantasy, rendering you completely untargetable and taking you out of the battle for a "turn" (=roughly the time it takes for other classes to complete a full rotation). If the enemy moves from its original position, you get stuck in the ground headfirst for another turn, then die from asphyxiation.
- sound effects for attacks changed to slide whistles and party horns
- trait that changes Weakness into a strength buff
- Microsoft Clippy-style cartoon dragon pet that dispenses advice on quickly levelling a new class and deals damage equivalent to another dragoon, but requires the user to /manderville during its duration
- dual-wielding spears
- exclusive Tissues item mailed to level 50 dragoons via Moogle Letter

DRG buffs incoming. Yoshi P has heard the cries of the fallen.

Btw, I was wondering how things like Raiton damage are calculated. Are they counted as elemental so that something like Foe's Requiem would boost the damage?

I ask because there were a few times where it seemed like my Raiton was doing a TON more damage (and I don't think BfB was up) and I thought it might be because of that.

Most Ninjutsu, including Raiton (sans Doton and the Fuma Shuriken) are enhanced by Foe's Requiem. Before you start stacking INT, Ninjutsu damage is based on your attack rating which is influenced by your primary stat (DEX) and buffs/debuffs.

If I have two desynthesis classes in the 90s and one in the 40s, but want to level desynthesis on a different class other than the one in the 40s, will there be any problems? Do I need to use a reset book on the one in the 40s or can I just start desynthing on the other class and the one in the 40s will go down without much impact to the ones in the 90s?

Man, the FFXIV opening still gets me every time. Bahamut so scary, and then after that - the feeling of adventure that I enjoy so much about this game.

Once you reach 300 in all Desynth skills when you level one skill it will take that increase from one of the other skills... somewhat randomly. To keep the lv 90 skills you'd have to desynth like a lv 1 item along with each 2 Desynths of the one you are leveling just so it won't take from that skill.

The only thing I have to say in response to this is

I don't see how that would alleviate my boredom at all.

It does the random subtraction thing even before you hit 300--but I believe once you hit the cap the subtractions get bigger. So using the desynth reset book on the one in the 40s won't prevent losing skills in the 90s, but it will make the losses (if you don't rotate/lock in) less painful.

Yeah, that 0.01 random decrease especially at lv 90 is a pain to lose. Since they have two skills at lv 90 I'm sure they've experienced the 0.01 loss.

Originally I had Leatherworker at lv 78 then de-leveled it the hard way... wish I would have kept it for the easy Fieldcraft III... oh well

I find it pretty funny that they devote a full expansion to a class that apparently no one in the staff plays or else they would have noticed the problem a long time ago.

If you get those two up to 100 and hit the cap, they won't delevel while you're working on a different desynth now. New modification in patch 2.4.

The desynth cap is sort of annoying, only thing pissing me off since things you want to blow up sometimes change patch to patch.

Those two at 100 will delevel if you're at the 300 overall cap though. RIP when you see that 100.0 skill go down to 99.8 with one desynth.

Maple wasn't asking if he was at 2 100.0 desynths. He was asking:

90 something Class 1
90 something Class 2
40 something Class 3

In that scenario, his best option is to go 100 for Class 1 and Class 2, and then switch to Class 4 that he wanted to do so that Class 3 degrades naturally. He's not talking about hitting the 300 cap. You guys just ended up getting way off topic without addressing his concern.

He'd be pushed to 245-ish in your scenario (due to the mandatory 1 in all classes); if he attempts to level a 4th class he is going to hit the 300 cap somewhere in the 60s or so of that class depending on degradation pace and the 300 cap penalty becomes relevant. The pre-300 degrading of the class in the 40s won't keep pace with the increases of the fourth class, and so the 300 cap is ultimately related to his question--the ultimate optimal path would be getting two to 100 and then book resetting the third class to make the 300 cap not an issue I guess, but just getting 2 to 100 wouldn't do it.

On ilv 70 Artisan Spectacles it's a difference between 98.5% and 100% which means you'll botch 1 out of every 2 attempts!

Finally someone else understands how percentages work in this game. On a serious note, that's good to know from you and Stalkhawk. I figured once you were 90+ you were pretty much in the clear for most items. Makes my desynthing dreams feel more like nightmares, though.
