Not everyone has a choice really. If you want practice, and your group isn't running for awhile, you've got to pug.

Besides, not every pug out there is bad. I think sometimes people are a bit too eager to jump to that conclusion.

A group that doesn't run in awhile is probably no bueno.

On this point, think I read this on reddit but what do folks think of someone creating a Farm PF, saying have clear experience or whatever.

Then you get into the fight, see the bonus sol message. And then clear it in one go. Instance ends and the PF Creator (who originally put it up as a farm) got the achievement for the instance and goes "Thanks for the clear" before disbanding the party.

That's quite dishonest, especially for anyone joining it to 'farm' the content and everyone but this person had clear experience already.

This is why "will quit and reband if bonus" has started appearing a lot lately in the Party Finder on Adamantoise.

A group that doesn't run in awhile is probably no bueno.

A group that isn't putting in at least three to four hours a week and keeping a consistent roster isn't a static group, really.

So, finally got to the point to where my raid group is wiping to Turn 9 at under 5% Boy, is that horribly exciting and soul crushing all in one go.

In other news, I'm shocked it took them this long to institute the ability to change your character's name. That seemed kinda obvious when you can change your character's race and gender already.

They're not really the same thing though. A name is the central identifier for the character, especially in larger groups. There's a few people in the FC whose name I recognise that I don't even know which race they're playing as.

I really like that T9 makes the tank CD absolutely necessary. Out first wipe yesterday was really fast: I took a Reavensbeak in the face without any CD. I died.

At the third try I already knew exactly when to activate the CDs and which ones, and it gives a nice change to the basic "do your rotations and use cooldowns if needed" that I'm used to.

Jesus christ I was trying to fish at the Empty Heart in lower la noscea and a lvl50 Croakadile appeared and I'm pretty sure the entire Yojimbo server showed up in a minute to kill it. Have never seen anything so laggy in my life lol PS3 ;_;

I thought some FATEs were bad but this was a whole new level. The input delay on my controller to put away my fishing rod took like 70 seconds and by the time the first damage number popped up the croakdile had already died.

Well that was a bizarre dungeon run in Stone Vigil last night. I was uneasy about the dungeon expecting another Brayflox type wake up call, but instead it was the first clean run I had since Haukke. On the flipside it was also the first time I had group problems, so it was rather amazing that we finished with no deaths. The tank, healer and ninja were arguing fairly frequently and it got rather heated but thankfully they left me out of it. I immediately started the beast tribe quests and am having a lot of fun so far. I cannot wait to check out the other tribes missions in the next few levels. Garuda still terrifies me though, I am not looking forward to that battle.

The thing about Garuda normal, is it teaches you absolutely nothing about Garuda hard mode. Ifrit you kinda see nails(I think?) and like Eruption, Titan you see landslides at least, but Garuda is like the same place, the same spells but completely different effects and way to do it. It's so weird.

Stone Vigil is slightly challenging in general, if you tank sucks or your healer sucks. If you had no deaths then they were both probably relatively decent players. More so than Dzemazel or the dungeon before.

Qarn was a disaster because no one knew what they were doing, just like Brayflox. It took 2 wipes for us to figure out how to avoid getting one shot by the first boss (embarrassing). Cutter's went great overall, but I died a couple of times. I am not sure if it was due to my mistakes or someone else, but we finished without wiping so it's not a big deal. I was impressed with the tank, he did a great job explaining things and kept his cool for the most part despite the vitrol being thrown by the other 2. I also appreciated that they waited for me to finish the cutscenes, I have run into problems with that also.

I feel like I saw someone post something about war and SMN should be on cube in T11? I think those were the two classes but I can't find the post now, I just remember the person sounding very sure of themselves and not giving a reason why, curious about the reasoning now.

Only just now started leveling my Naruto.

Why the fuck does Mutilate have a random backflip?

+10 style points for next 3 attacks.

The cube has a lot less HP so they can solo while the other 3 DPS tackle the sphere. Cube also doesn't resist magic like sphere does.

Yup know that already, the person who said it just seemed very sure of their pick of those two classes. With that info I see no difference between pld/BLM vs. war/SMN. Just wanting to know if I'm missing something.

With a lot of people coming back for 2.4 and Final Coil being released, I thought it might be a good idea to post a reminder about the GAF Coil LS.

For people on Ultros, we have a GAF Coil linkshell for members that are geared up and interested in tackling content in second and final coil. There are groups that are still looking for permanent members and membership can change within groups from time to time. If your schedule is not conducive to a static group, you can also use this as a resource to fill in for other established GAF groups as needed, when people are looking for temporary replacements.

I would recommend joining if you have any interest in this content at all. Just ask for an invite in FC chat or PM one of the officers. Most (all?) GAF coil groups should have at least one representative in the LS that can send invites. If you are a NeoGAF member, you can still join without needing to be a member of our FC, if that is an issue. Just send me a PM here on NeoGAF with your character name.

Was it because I got to go to sleep instead of wipe to T8?

We need all of the echos

PLD/WAR for the tank isn't a big deal, though PLD is the better Cube tank due to better Awareness and even that isn't really a big deal. SMN over BLM is simply because they can fully DoT it up and be enough DPS to keep pace with the other group and let the BLM tunnel. It, too, doesn't matter too much in the end, just simply out of convenience: One DPS will tunnel, the other will DPS and switch. BLM benefits more from tunneling, SMN can split DPS easier.

Alternatively, both casters just go ham on the Cube until ~10-15% and let the tank finish it off while they switch to the other add. Whichever works.

Ok cool, nothing too definitive then and just do what works with the group. Finally going to admit that I'm going to regret my lack of quelling strikes for once. Tank can't keep up cube aggro with their cheapened attacks due to that physical resistance.

This is pretty much the encounter I figured would either force Quelling Strikes or I just overlooked an option for the phase. Even with DoTs as my primary damage a good Fester crit means I'd potentially pull aggro without Quelling.

The bottleneck for the phase is almost always the sphere so BLM on it + my DoTs sort of makes up for not having a 3 Physical : 1 Caster split. Easier to do that with SMN on Cube / BLM on Sphere rather than the opposite.

So with everyone on point and staying on their own mob (2 physical and a caster on sphere and 1 caster on cube) the sphere is still staying alive longer? Thats reason enough for me to want the SMN on cube then. The ease of having dots on both will help narrow that a lot.

T5 down :) At first the party was not very good, but once the ones who really didn't know what to do got out, we managed to beat it rather easily. Cue the friendlist requests and the invitation to join a linkshell ^_^ Gosh, I'm so happy.

Congratulations! Good luck in second coil.
And with more and more divebombs!

Need some specific solo tank advice for T9:

I got how I need to use my cooldowns at phase 1. Apparently, I don't need any CD on phase 2, right?

At phase 3, I need CDs because of the Ghost. Do I use any specific CD at an specific moment in the phase?

And phase 4, I need the CDs for Claws. Any specific rotation I should follow? How many claws should we get?

No CDs needed during P2.

I don't use any CDs during P3 either (never have, not even during learning stages). If you're solo tanking, you should only see 1 ghost. If you're seeing 2 ghost while solo tanking, you may as well go with two tanks.

Worry about mastering those before even thinking about P4.

has anybody had problem with 90K lately? I got disconnected every 10-15 minutes since few days ago. I've been playing for a year and never had this kind of problem. I contacted SQE support and you know what to expect: "reset router", "firewall", "turn off programs" blah blah blah. None of those helped. My PC is wired by the way.

I'll try to play on my PS4 and see if I get the same problem.

Well all 8 of us could just walk in the center. That's probably the fastest way to kill the most things in there. Though we've been doing pretty good without a death wall so far.

I had no issues on that one run where we lasted more than 10 seconds into add phase lol
