Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

The demo is not whole region...they already said that there are gonna be sections where if you pass it'll tell you turn back. The full game won't be like that though. They already mentioned they want to add swimming.
Of course, we can kill him in the final game. My comment was more about the demo itself.

Someone made an observation in one of the threads that having android knights as the enemies could morally justify having to actually "kill" them since they don't have a soul. It would be interesting if they actually did approach with that angle since this is supposed to be a much more serious story.
.
If it was me I also mentioned how Tales of Abyss went about handling your first kill/murder. this works especially well if they want to open Noctis' eyes on how the other half live. May be a reason why he starts the demo leveled below everyone.

For all of the flack ToTA gets for it's plot/cast (I personally love it), that's the one theme I think it did a great job of highlighting. Wouldn't mind seeing other RPGs like XV tackle that.

I'd rather not have every game with android enemies try to ape DRDOES

Fortunately you dont have to worry about that. Not only do most games with androids in them not treat androids like they might be people, they dont even treat people like they might be people.

Did they try to do the warping attack? I would try to warp into it's head/neck. when I play the demo.

No, I don't think they tried locking onto it. They just stood there for a few seconds and the monster looked away.

I'm guessing that you won't be able to teleport considering you would fall on water after doing so, and you can't swim. Or even you can't lock-on to him because there's only a model and animations there, but no interactivity.

That being said, they did confirm you can fight the monster in the final game at least.

There's another Square Enix property that did this

Tomb Raider

BOOOOOM!

I don't expect FFXV to have even a morsel of this kind of intrapersonal depth, but we'll see.

My personal endgame of the story would be Noctis, with his "eyes that see the light of expiring souls", being able to sense the impending death of the people he cares for ("There are things I just "know," and I have no idea how."), but he can't do anything to stop it himself.

I wonder if the demo will be put up for free eventually.

I feel they won't. They never put the Advent Children Complete demo on PSN and that's despite the fact that it was not included in releases of that movie outside Japan.

(though reaching way back... there was the precedent that the Brave Fencer Musashi demo eventually made it's way to the Official US Playstation demo disc.... but I think 15 year old occurrences have no impact on the Square Enix of today).

Everyone will die except Noctis. Lightning will appear in XV-2 to teach him to kill Buni and create a new world or go live on Earth.

The demo is downloaded.

edit:

upon closer inspection the Behemoth also bleeds when hit in the claws this is totally unrealistic

KUSOGE

I think i heard something similar in another video, probably the PS Access one.

Just rewatched PS Access's impression, don't think I heard it there.

So it's either nobody got a gameover in their short time playing a slice of the demo and as a result, finding out that losing also takes away the EXP, like Dark Souls, or the lady at GT made a mistake.

in the videos it seems a phantom sword stucks in the Behemoth.. I guess we can pick it up after the fight. I hope there are a few phantom swords out there to collect.

famitsu already spoiled how many phantom swords we get in the demo. :P

Lol...It's not looking well with SE's nature to spoil everything. Like Type-0's new secret CGI scene, Lightning Returns outright having the final boss appear in the magazine with a screenshot of Lightning and him right before the final fight starts and the various times where SE has scenes from the last section of their games in trailers.

If you don't want to be spoiled on FF marketing, you'd need to go on a media exile for like 6 months before launch lol.

Hey kagari, I just listened to the podcast and I was wondering if there was a work related reason why you didn't have a chance to try it out (such as square enix restricting it to one person per press). I mean, it would've been really cool if you had a chance to play it in a theater for the first time after waiting for almost 9 years

Square Enix America neglected to invite me to see it unfortunately.

I didn't realizes this. I wasn't following LR info much cause I wasn't really that interested in the game. Was it famitsu?

Not sure if posted before, but GameTrailers just put up their impression.

According to her, if you die, you lose the EXP accumulated? I don't see this mentioned in any other previews.

I know I heard or read that, too, maybe in a German preview. I've already wondered why no one mentioned it here, as it'd be quite a huge thing after the instant-retry after losing in FFXIII/-2. I'd welcome it! Adds a satisfying weight and tension to the game. You really don't want to lose progress in the middle of a long dungeon. Losing an hour of precious game time after every lost battle in Lightning Returns really added a lot to it and made you pay attention to every single encounter because losing often meant having your whole time plan thrown off if you didn't have enough time left afterwards to finish a time-sensitive/locked quest you were in the middle of doing and had to waste a whole day again to wait to finish where you had left off.

I'll try find my source. Maybe I heard it in the same video you posted, though, can't remember.

Yeah, if that's true, I think it's a solid idea to add to the challenge. But can we return to the spot we died to retrieve the lost EXP? We'll see. The amount of camps in the demo seem pretty generous enough, at least judging from the map.

Nah, that would seem strange in FFXV^^ Doesn't make sense story-wise that they are “resurrected“ and can retrieve their “lost souls“, so to speak, like in Dark Souls.

So the demo might be a more polished build according to 9:45.
I think GT is the only one to say that though, I might be wrong.

pssshhh if there's a more polished build they should sell it as more-polished-build $5 DLC

hire me square enix

I remember some other site mentioning it as well. I forgot which site.

Didn't know you can lose EXP. Sounds interesting but I'm having FFXI flashbacks.
*shudders*

What I find more interesting is that the lady from GT said that it is possible to ignore camping which not only puts you at a risk to lose a higher amount of EXP but also triggers enemies to spawn that wouldn't be available normally. I just woke up and maybe I misunderstood things, but that sounds like a very interesting feature for hardcore players.

Tabata mentioned that a while back.

You can completely opt out of camping and subsequently leveling if you so choose for a challenge while playing.

I think she probably meant at night time there are enemies that are unique to the time of the day, which we have already known.
