Japan is a lost cause for both.
Don't see why even if console sales down in Japan 20 million consoles were sold this gen over there .
Just compare to other gens it was more evenly split .
Japan is a lost cause for both.
Show me the numbers in europe that state the ps3 outsold the 360 in europe.

What? Nah, don't forget the OG was home to exclusives like Ninja Gaiden, Stranger's Wrath, Phantom Dust, Crimson Skies, Midtown Madness and many more. The Xbox had some amazing exclusive titles.
Can you actually talk to in-game characters? Have your buddy or whoever get up and change your tire in a racing game? Not to my knowledge. Not to mention that the Natal in that reveal trailer is picking up the most subtle gestures which Kinect never came close to recognizing.
"USE YOUR OWN GEAR" is one of the main features mentioned in the trailer. Sure you can scan objects. But then use them in a meaningful way in the game? Hardly.
I don't know how anyone could claim that this video accurately represented Kinect.
Sounds about right for a new console launch. I expect Sony to have the same problems.
Spring releases work for Rockstar. And going up against Destiny and Call of Duty in the fall might not be a good idea.
Since when has MS backed down from a Fall or holiday release the whole gen. Spring works for Rockstar, but that's Rockstar.
Again, if you look at all of their prime-time releases, that they truly want to promote the Sep through December makes the most sense.
They threw a ton of money at them, gave them an existing engine to work with, and gave them since 2007 to make the game. Plus they weren't developing on a brand new console.
Infamous SSNot surprising considering what we've heard of MS's next gen offerings and their focus is working on new original IP while all we've seen from Sony are more sequels of same ol same ol.
MS seems to be focusing more on new ideas which are going to take longer to iterate on and be the more risky route while Sony is simply playing the safe bet giving us more of the same only marginally prettier. at least going by what they've shown so far.

in true sony style they will announce heaps of new games...Most of which we wont be playing for 2 years....just going off their history ms at least announce games within the calanderInfamous SS
Killzone SF
Knack
Drive Club
They showed you two sequels and two new IP. Hope you didn't miss the last two as they were part of the unveil too. Knack is the first game they showed. The guys working on Killzone also have another team working on a new IP too. Also, you're in for a rude surprise if you think Sony won't show even more new IP. They have so many teams, it's quite comfortable at this stage for them to do both sequels and original properties. Certainly, they'll be in a much better position than either Nintendo or MS to do that.
Also, you haven't really heard anything of MS's next gen offerings. And I guess you're likely to be disappointed when they unveil their next Forza and Fable offerings, potentially quite soon.
Um, I'm pretty sure the games listed here will be launch/launch window titles.in true sony style they will announce heaps of new games...Most of which we wont be playing for 2 years....just going off their history ms at least announce games within the calander

I think they are more sensitive on studio finance. If studio don't have future promise and MS would like to close them. let more invest to others or built internal studio. Why did they even close studios like Bizzare? They really need to secure more first party studios, as we can see from Sony, third party exclusives have unreliable platform allegiances at best.
Six yearsXbox is 6 months behind where they would like to be, you don't say. How far behind is the WiiU from where it would like to be?

Drive Club isn't really like any other racer out there. Quite different. At least, the aim of what it's trying to accomplish hasn't been done period, let alone done better. But I guess you'll see that when more of it is shown.I realize both will be giving us sequels. I was just reasoning based on what we've seen from sony and what the rumors have said MS was up to.
And my guess is Sony's holding back their new IP for E3. Knack look like it could be fun but calling drive club a new IP is technically true but its a driving game that other IP do much better already and isn't really what I'm looking forward to with gaming in the next gen.
Well, they've already announced four internally developed games for year one. So, if they announce heaps of games, it only stands to reason that some of them will be released after year one since it would be pretty stupid to do otherwise.in true sony style they will announce heaps of new games...Most of which we wont be playing for 2 years....just going off their history ms at least announce games within the calander

If you want to have the exact same issue the ps3 had then sure...its no problem but most people will want games to play now. ..not in 2 years. Not saying that the ps4 wont have good launch games but there will be that big gap between launch and a steady stream of titles this has happened on all sony consoles. ...factor in the rumored ea/ms deal and u might have a drought bigger than the ps3sHow is that a bad thing?

Another one straight off of mamas milk and new to gaming. What nonsense are you typing? You cant be serious with that first sentence. Sony has consistently pumped out new ideas and IP's every gen.Not surprising considering what we've heard of MS's next gen offerings and their focus is working on new original IP while all we've seen from Sony are more sequels of same ol same ol.

Why would they be dead in Europe? When they have been competitive all gen?
Next gen if MS plays it's cards right they will continue to win NA and still be successful in Europe.
The difference is they actually could gain more ground in all regions that even the 360 was not able to accopmlish.
Activision bought Bizzare and shut them down. I do think Microsoft should've bought some of the companies they had past relations with though, instead of letting third party companies buy them. Why did they even close studios like Bizzare? They really need to secure more first party studios, as we can see from Sony, third party exclusives have unreliable platform allegiances at best.
Another one straight off of mamas milk and new to gaming. What are you laughing at? Sony has consistently pumped out new ideas and IP's every gen.
I think it'll be a different situation if they've just put out a new console and several of their first party games miss launch. If third parties aren't there to pick up the spring slack, they may need to release their own tentpole to ensure steady growth. Even more so if Sony decides to release some of its heavy hitting first party games in spring.
But I see what you're saying, in that Microsoft hardly ever releases its games in the spring. Alan Wake was a notable exception and it may very well have suffered for it. Same with Gears of War: Judgment.
It will be interesting.I think its more likely that they lose ground than gain it. Now I'm selling you doom and gloom by any means, but the large majority of their success was from North America. In Europe, its fair to say their neck and neck with Sony...with Sony having a slight lead. In Japan, of course they are no competition. They won't enjoy a year lead on store shelves, which leads me to believe its highly unlikely that should Sony and MS release at the same time, we'll see a 2:1 sales rate. Or another way of putting it is...We won't see a 8mil sales lead again. That gives Sony room to encroach on market share from the beginning. I envision a neck and neck battleground in EU and NA.
Of course that's predicated on my belief that the system will be around the same ballpark feature- and price-wise.
Its like I said I'm basing my opinion off of what Sony has shown and this thread http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=511206&highlight=ms+new+ip
I'm not saying Sony won't have new IP. I also like your liberal use of "new ideas". gave me a good chuckle.
other than being highly cinematic there's no new ideas behind KZ, UC, resistance they're hallway shooters nothing more.
What about LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain?
Heavy rain was an interesting experiment but the character acting and dialogue ruined the experience really just a longwinded QTE
LBP is a mario clone with editing tools
they're new IP in the branding however the concepts of gameplay are not really new
my comments are referring to next gen anyway based off of fact and rumor because the thread is talking about why Durango is behind in game production.
Whatever either company has done in this gen is irrelevant to the next gen. new systems = clean slate

I can't wait to see how "the concepts of gameplay" are all going to be entirely new with the projects coming from Microsoft's stable of developers.

I honestly don't think you will see any new or innovative ideas coming out of the Microsoft first party. The brass running the show is squarely determined on profit return. I expect a by the numbers shooter, a COD money hat, Forza rehash, and various attempts at Kinnect titles.

Uncharted is not a hallway shooter, the fact that you actually believe this shows you have no idea what you're talking about. Its like I said I'm basing my opinion off of what Sony has shown and this thread http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=511206&highlight=ms+new+ip

Show me the numbers in europe that state the ps3 outsold the 360 in europe.
The new Respawn game wont matter much since although the devs left IW , they didnt take with them EA's tools and middlewares which are best in the industry
these stealth trolling techniques makes every x360 owner look bad. PS3 outsold x360 by a huge margin in PAL/europe. Look at eu charts. where is an x360 game besides the UK charts?
What EU charts? The ones that we get sporadically from platform holders or the ones that end in a 'z'?
Look at the PAL charts, if you havent gone to any place in the PAL region
