you need to wake upSo it's true. Nearly 3 years after MK8 launch, the only thing Nintendo has to offer is a port with updated DLC content. Wtf.
I can definitely see the Splatoon Inklings making their way into this game with a splatoon track, also even a variant on the squid attack weapon where it sprays multicolored ink on the screen.
I think they should just go all out and include all (well most) of the 3d tracks they ever made for MK plus a few new ones.
Call it the Mario Kart collection or whatever.

Yes, that's the only thing they did in those 3 years.
MK8 has 48 tracks? Holy shit.
The article flat out says even more new levels, characters, and a real battle mode.
3 years later or not, but this seems moe like the OG games, its DLC, and a hefty expansion pack; hardly offensive.
you need to wake up
I mean, to be fair, MK8 is the first HD Mario Kart game, it has 48 courses, and they all look like they were no joke at all to make. Building on its foundation seems understandable - starting from scratch and throwing all of that out on a dead console would have been a waste.
several months from launch = holidays.
There's a team dedicated to Mario Kart yeah. Usually, they put out a new game in 3 years. What they put here in 3 years is an upport.
MKDS: 2006 -> MKWii: 2009 -> MK3DS: 2011 -> MK8: 2014 -> MK8+: 2017

So new tracks, characters, and new Battle mode, plus all the content that came to the Wii U.
Nintendo should just call this MK9. I mean it sounds like a sequel.

Day One. Make it happen Nintendo. The only character they need to put in Mario Kart is Kirby.
16 base new ones, 16 classic, 16 added by DLC.MK8 has 48 tracks? Holy shit.

I think it's just better to call it "MK8.5" because that's what it really is.

Everything is exactly the same as MK8 except for King Boo and the double item system.

I'm not sure I would expect more than at most 8 new tracks. The game will already have all 48 MK 8 tracks as it is.
Hope Xenoblade and Bayo 2 get the same treatment.
Mario Kart 8 was an ongoing project, 16 news tracks were developed. It might be a little early to judge what Mario Kart Switch is but this report makes it sound like a pretty great package.
How do you know that is the only thing they have been working on these past 3 years? Maybe the "Mario Kart team" actually was able to work on something different than a Mario Kart game. You literally know nothing.
They did 16 dlc courses after the launch in 2014. You have no idea if they reduced team size or the scope of this project.
Hope Xenoblade and Bayo 2 get the same treatment.
So through DLC we saw Link, Villager, and Isabel added to the roster. What other Nintendo characters do you think will be in this game at launch?
Think we will see Pikachu?
What's this mode?Battery mode!! Megaton.
That doesn't mean anything tbh. It was just an introduction video to the Switch. They show the basic UI's from Mario Kart 8. They could easily change up the UI's and menus to give it a different feel from Mario Kart 8 so people who bought Mario Kart 8 will feel like they're almost getting a Mario Kart 9.I think it's just better to call it "MK8.5" because that's what it really is.

The game will directly go to trash if they put more abomination like this one in the roster.

Yes, so as I said, MK8 + old DLC + new DLC. As someone who already played MK8, that's disappointing that 3 years later, we get a MK8 port.
Yeah, but what they showed in the trailer was a retro track, and every MK since MKDS has had those. And graphically I don't think its a big deal if they kept MK8's art style since it still looks really good.
They are changing the item system, adding new tracks and characters, and adding a new battle mode. I feel like they are underselling this game if they just call it an enhanced port. Same with Splatoon, and that game actually looks different compared to the one on Wii U.
I get where you're coming from but what would a sequel be? I mean they could make a new engine and remake all the assets but I think we would pretty much end up with Mario Kart 8+ anyway. I agree though I would prefer a new game built from the ground up.
I don't know for sure, I'm commenting what we learn from the thread.
